    Looking good! It's like watching the story of a heritage railway, through expansion, acquiring more stock, rebuilding stations etc.

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Alex, you're right it is like that! Perhaps when I start getting more scenery down I'll have to do a video telling the story of the heritage railway through the years. Thanks for watching 😃

    Love the eclectic stock and the Pecket running with two unrelated carriages. It so reminds me of a time in the 1970s and early 80s where such things were ‘de rigueur’ and no one really gave a monkey’s because they were just happy to see a working steam engine! 😎
    That station will give you plenty of scope for operations and I am already happy to see a graceful Schools and an LNER J-class freight (J15? 🤔).
    The Pecket took me back to standing on Keighley platform 4 in about 1975 on a lovely crisp spring morning. We had just arrived after getting on at Oakworth where we then lived, and my dad took me up the front to explain how ‘Fred’ (A handsome wee Hunslet once resident) was going to be attached to the front of the train so we could go back up the line the other way. It suppose it really was my first ‘favourite’ engine, in a handsome blue livery, and I was so sad to learn they let Fred go 😕 On the brighter side, restoration is underway at Tysley so I hope one day to be able to visit to be reunited with Fred once more 👍
    Cheers fella, really loving this wee series 👍🍻🍀

      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Haha yes it really does give it the feel of a heritage railway doesn't it so hopefully that will continue as the scenery gradually gets completed. I dare say there will be room for a few more prototypical running sessions in the future too - just for a bit of variety! Thanks for sharing those memories of the KWVR and thanks for watching too 😃

    Superb production as always. Loving the Heritage Railway feel already. I’m guessing you will eventually need some sad pieces of half-scrapped rescued carriages and locos sitting there with tarpaulins over them awaiting renovation as there always seems to be in every Heritage Railway siding!

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Andrew, glad you enjoyed it. Yes, the two carriage sidings were added with exactly that in mind! I'd like to have an old rusty boiler sitting out in the yard by the sheds too as if there's an overhaul happening very slowly somewhere. Thanks for watching 😃

  • @kleedhamhobby
    @kleedhamhobby 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm very impressed with the landscaping of your embankments - really natural looking. The smooth running is also admirable - DCC, presumably. I'm rather envious... there are very definite advantages to working in OO Gauge, but I'm limited to N Gauge in view of available space.

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, I'm quite pleased with how they came out too considering it's my first attempt at proper scenery. In this video the layout is running on DCC but it runs just as smoothly on DC too.
      Yes I imagine there is a big space advantage to using N Gauge, although I have a lack of space myself which is why I decided to build a modular railway so that it can all be packed away at the end of the day. Thanks for watching 😃

    So good to see you having fun playing trains at last. You work so hard on your construction videos. Just one thing I may have missed (?)...is there a video which includes how you have hinged the fiddle yard? It's just that I am not agile enough for a "duck under" and I'm going to have to make a hinged lift up section to access the centre space within my runaround the loft walls layout. Please just point me to any video material you have already. If none, please can you include this subject in a future video. Many thanks. Keep safe and well.....

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks John, it is nice to be able to run things on the new layout finally. You know what I don't think I ever have shown how the fiddle yard hinges so I'll be sure to include that in a future video. I'm afraid that it only folds up for storage though, as when it is setup with the rest of the layout it's bolted to the modules on either side. But like I say, I'll show this in the next update if I can. Thanks for watching 😃

    @mathewdickenson4908 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That was great. The layout is coming alone nicely. This is just a suggestion, but the track you kept the diesel and 0-4-0 on. Turn it towards the back of the layout and see if you can fit a turn table.

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Matthew! I think I did experiment with having a turntable there when I was designing the layout and although a small one did fit it was still too big to look realistic sadly. The plan is to have an inspection pit there instead though which is why that siding is still a bit unfinished. Thanks for watching 😃

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Matthew! So I think the two barriers you're referring to are the endplates that I use to hide the baseboard joints. In this case they're marking the height and width of the platforms so I know where to put them on each board - that's why they're so close to the rails.
      Yes there will be a footbridge, though probably at the headshunt end just so the scene doesn't get too crowded. Thanks for watching 😃
