    This layout is a great example of how much can be accomplished in a small space with some creativity and ingenuity.

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it's definitely been an exercise is getting as much as possible into a small space without it feeling cramped! Thanks for watching 😃

    I liked it, specially that the track isn’t made for high speed train. It made my day.

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Me too! High speed trains don't really do it for me - give me a small train trundling along an industrial branch-line any day! Thanks for watching 😃

    One of the best running session videos that I have seen and shows off the layout so well. Goffod Tynn looks so realistic especially with greenery and the people added.

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Nigel, I'm so pleased with how this video came together! It seemed like everywhere I pointed the camera I got a nice shot, made even better by the slow running of all the locos. Thanks for watching 🤩

    Lovely slow shunting and running! Plenty of time for admiring the rolling stock and the scenery! Great video 👍

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah it's really nice to have the layout running this well to allow those sorts of operations. It also makes the layout seem much bigger if you run round it slower 😂 Thanks for watching 👍

    so lovely just to sit and watch, especially when you've followed the whole build. really looks excellent. more narrow gauge please

      Thanks Ian, it is nice to be able to just watch the trains trundle past. I definitely think there will be more narrow gauge along in the future... I have some ideas! Thanks for watching 😃

      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Eddy, I do like doing these sorts of videos where you just let the trains and layout speak for themselves. Hopefully I'll do more of these in the future when I finish some of my other layouts. Thanks for watching 😃

    Great to see the double Fairlie out and about again. Absolutely love this layout you have created. Would you be able to do a video on track and train maintenance. I think that would help alot of beginners out like myself. Also can't wait to see more on your module railway.

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks Sam! I decided to run the green Fairlie this time since it hasn't appeared much on the channel - if at all actually!
      As for track maintenance, I could try and do a video on that but honestly my maintenance goes as far as running a track rubber over it every once in a while so it might not be a very long video. I generally tend to focus on getting the track as good as possible when first laying and ballasting it so that any maintenance down the road is minimal. Thanks for watching 😃

    • @MrClarky08
      @MrClarky08 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ThatModelRailwayGuy is that the peco rubber. I do have one of those and some special train oil. OK that's fair enough. Didn't know if there was anything else I was missing that's all. It's great to here from and watch someone I can actually understand. Thanks for making the great videos.

  • @jeffreysutcliffe1139

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Fairlie is a fantastic model isn't it - Bachmann really knocked it out of the park with that one!
      Yeah I could definitely look into doing a video on maintenance - I don't do that much to be honest though, other than cleaning the wheels every so often. Thanks for watching 😃

    Fantastic, That Model Railway Guy. I could watch this for hours, and likely will! I can't believe how well the tiny locos run, and how much operating pleasure one can get from such a tiny layout. Anticipating your next work. Say I think Prince is out for overhaul this year. Oh well, this one looks great with it's tiny coaches. Well done.

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have to admit I'm really pleased with how well these tiny locos run at slow speeds. At one point during filming I got a bit annoyed when I overran and bashed into some wagons - only to realise when I stopped looking through the camera lens that I'd only overrun by a 2mm 😂 Thanks for watching 👍

  • @adam_fordham

    ¡Hola buenas tardes! A fantastic achievement, both technically and visually, within such a tight-fitting build platform. The suitcase housing was an ingenious idea and you have certainly fulfilled your original build brief. As a OO scale scratch-builder, my hat goes off to you for your patience with such small building parts and materials and, finally, it should never matter what anyone else thinks of the end result, as long as you reap the pleasure of your work. As ever, stay safe and well. Un saludo. Gary

      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I did consider that with the Double Fairlie - the problem is that the driver figures hit their head on the tunnel portals if they're on the inside of the curve. They were threatening to strike so I turned the locos round to appease them 😂 Thanks for watching 👍

      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd love to get some of the Skarloey range but I think the fixed wheelbase might be too long for the curves on this layout. I'm only really able to get away with the Double Fairlie because they're essentially running on bogies. Perhaps a larger 009 layout will be required to open up my options 🤔 Thanks for watching 👍

      The coaches are two of the GVT kits from Dundas Models. Really nice to put together although the instructions can be a little unhelpful at times. I've got two more to build at some point and I think I'll put them together a little different than what's recommended 😆 Thanks for watching 👍

    Reactions, in order of appearance:
    Great colour on the shed. Like the old wheelset sitting in front. Ooh, a Fairlie!
    People on the station!
    Track seems a bit uneven on the far left of the station. Was that intentional?
    I do like all the various drivers.
    I like the slate wagons. Fairlie seems to have its couplings on very long poles.
    Is the guy in red with the camera a 3d print of you?
    People in carriages :)
    Colours are so vibrant. Planter boxes with their purple flowers really stand out.
    Green side-board backgrounds look good. Join baseboard decor almost seamlessly.
    Amazing work. Looks fantastic and runs really well.

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great reactions and I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
      The uneven track definitely wasn't intentional but if you saw the series where I built this layout you'll know I had a bit of trouble with getting glue in the points and so it's a bit of a hangover from that 😅
      I added PECO couplings to the Double Fairlie when I took this layout to an exhibition recently which is why they're a bit longer. The Bachmann ones aren't as reliable for some reason but that's about my only gripe with those wonderful engines.
      And yes the figure on the platform is indeed a 3D print of yours truly done by Modelu!
      Thanks for watching 👍

    I've watched this go together and I think it's come out really good be interested in more stuff like this in the future although I am curious how do you know where the train is on the inside passing loop/fiddle yard is it easy to see from inside the suitcase or have you got a monitoring system inside the tunnel?

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nick, the back of the hill and backscene are open so you can see through to the hidden loop if needed. More often though you just get a sense of where the train is. If I'm intending to hide something there I just make sure it's short enough to fit inside the points easily. Thanks for watching 😃

    One day. When I have a good place and money, I wanna build a 009 narrow gauge layout like this. But not in a suitcase. As a transformers collector. I, don’t have money. Soo I might have to get a job and make money

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  24 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Sounds awesome! 009 is great for packing a decent sized layout into a small space - obviously I've taken it to the extreme here by putting it in a suitcase but I've seen really brilliant and fun narrow gauge layouts to operate that aren't much bigger.
      There are some cheap options for getting started in 009 too - the best in my opinion are the little KATO 0-4-0 motor chassis then getting a 3D printed body to fit on top. Could be fun little project to work on in the meantime. Thanks for watching 😃

      As in starter sets with track, loco/rolling stock and controller? I don't think so but there's plenty of ready to run models available now from Bachmann, Heljan and Peco in their respective 009 ranges. Peco also have a track set which contains a loop of set track and some points to make sidings. Thanks for watching 😃

      Depends how long the train is really. For the shorter trains, it tends to be fine. There's actually a second run round loop in the hidden fiddle yard which is longer so I tend to use that. The one in the station is mainly used for running round trains. Thanks for watching 😃
