- They finally opened! our new tenants have opened their dream ice cream shop... twice cream and I couldn't be happier for them! plus I find some sweet treasures while out picking antiques today!
A busy... and fun episode!
That's a feel good video right there. Good times and good luck.
The ice cream shop is adorable..the owner seems to have a great sense of humor. I wish them much luck..love the clock as well.
It's been lovely to watch Curiosity, Inc grow over the years.... but there is something really special about seeing this project make other folks' dreams come true as well.
Aww am I the only one who felt sort of sad when we looked at your empty stores
But whatever is in your future will be brilliant for you and the family xxx
I think I detected a bit of regret in Alex's voice.
No, you weren't the only one!
I felt very sad after all the work he put in to building that place to not get to use it for himself.
Sad, yes.
I exiled myself from the internet for a while. Last time I checked in the shop was thriving, and now it's closed. What happened?
I haven’t watched this channel in a while. I can’t believe Alex shut down his store. It was so adorable!
"I'm not much of a gambler" the antiques dealer says LOL
So nice that someone's dream just became reality today, in part thanks to Alex
OMGoodness! Just get chills with the WWII memorabilia! The war where literal miracles took place. My Father served in WWII. Thank you for sharing this and seeing the Provenance still attached to the piece!
Alex's enthusiasm bounces off Jason and Abigail like a deflated basketball off a padded wall.
Teenagers
This is why the family doesn't make much effort to put the kids front and center. There are always annoying Internet yenta qvetches who want to judge them.
It would be nice for someone to open the store into a hamburger/sandwich/salad bar eatery. That would bring in lots of people from the neighborhood/church/and more to enjoy a great place to eat. Then people would go next door for ice cream. I'm hungry just thinking about it!
That was good ice cream! It was great to see you guys!
Are you the Dave with Bill in the ice cream shop?
@@julier.1902 yes! Also known as Diecast Dave by Alex!
Ice cream, marbles, model train, old clocks and a trunk... awesome day with Alex!
Yay! Romeo and Lily seem like nice people, I really hope their new business is a success!
Well, I'm sad that I won't be able to visit the Curiosity Incorporated store, but now I can visit the site and buy ice cream! It would be super cool if Alexander hosted meet and greets there on a regular basis. I bet people from all over would show up 😁
The pristine finish of the train cars, the whole train set is like going back in time. A real Treasure Chest with the trunk being an antique too. It would be so cool to auction the trunk and the train paraphernalia inside! They seem to be Complement Provenance, they tell each other’s story.
So glad nobody’s LOST THEIR MARBLES! Seriously, the old ones are awesome!
I love watching you unbox your treasures!
So happy for Twice Cream. Wishing them great success!
Really hoping you find a new tenant for the store side of the building that drives business to the ice cream shop and vice versa. I'm dating myself because my first thought was how nice a bookstore would be LOL.
So sad to see your store empty, but the icecream store looks fun. That clock is gorgeous!
Congratulations to Twice Cream on their opening!
Very interesting treasures, Alex.
😊❤️🇨🇦
So impressed! Businesses supporting other Businesses! Really appreciate supporting Small, Local Businesses! I hope and pray for your success! B~}
On the rug, the new owners will be able to find a reputable rug restoration place and have the rug re-fringed. I have done that on a similar size antique rug and it really brings a rug such as that back to life. Advise them to get it appraised at the time of the re-fringing also. Awesome video and huge congrats to Twice Cream! 🎉😊
When you said "you had a duck inside" I'm like why, ducks love the rain .. thought you had a new family member 😂
That Eames chair set is fantastic
Those wooden castors would be great for furniture restoration
That trunk has my dad’s initials
Hooray! What a wonderful occasion. Congratulations to everyone.
There's $100 worth of star wars figures there buddy. Awsome find.
😊🤗
The ice cream parlor is so cool. I grew up in a town that made ice cream they sold. Seeing the shop and ice cream made for good memories. The cats eye marbles may be current but I played with them back in the 50's
I keep hoping you will reopen your lovely store. But it is nice seeing you still picking and doing projects.
Wishes for great days ahead to Twice. Cream!
Great day for icecream.
Congratulations Twice Cream!!! Great name and I hope you have more business than you can handle!
Glad Twice Cream is open. Wish I lived closer but Ottawa is far away. Miss your old store with you and friends in it. I miss seeing you with Josh, Hans, Zinovia, and others. I hope that now that your house is done, your channel will become something other than pre-advertising for your auctions combined with your new house. I miss the old channel and Alex.
🇺🇸 ❤ 🇨🇦 thanks for being great neighbors!
I can remember flying in the late 60s early 70s in the UK . If you were a kid you could go and see the pilot in the cockpit and he would give you a gift of a model airplane.
Congratulations to the owners of the ice cream shop. Brazilian Canadian coffee ice cream. That sounds absolutely yummy!
that was my exact thoughts yum.
One of my favorite Star Trek actors was Canadian and served in WWII - James Doohan, aka Scotty. He was wounded by gunfire six times, and lost the middle finger in his right hand from one of those injuries.
The Ice cream shop looks like it will be a busy place especially when school starts back up, do you know if they will run as a seasonal business or all year? Love it when you do picks and find such interesting stuff to show us. Hope that your family is doing well and enjoying your swimming pool and garden. Looking forward to a garden update from Melissa soon. Blessings to you and your family, hope you enjoy your summer.
Romeo seems such a character and fun guy, best wishes for a successful venture. Melissa looked really beautiful and relaxed.
the ice cream shop is such a great space.
Matchbooks with the striking sandpaper surface on the same side as the opening are older. I distinctly remember my frustration when, for safety reasons, the stricker moved to the back of the matchbook.
Alex, I had to stop your vid. to make a comment. Your grandfather clock will be gorgeous. I'm hopin' that it will be for your home, beside your staircase. Your comment:- "A project I will have to get to, when I have.....TIME." Ha-ha. Very cute!!! :-) Off to watch the rest of your vid., now. 🙂
Alex, it is nice to see that you have not "lost your marbles". It will be wonderful to see Twice Cream have success in their location. A neat coffee shop will be a welcome addition. 😊 Our grand-daughter had her wedding reception across the street at the community hall back in September 2021. It was a wonderful day. (You were not in your store that day because you were in small town Alberta for the Model T Races.)
Oooo I want that Brazilian/ Canadian coffee ice cream. Looked so great. I don't think it would survive the drive to the East Coast.
Ooh, well, SOMEONE'S got a girlfriend. 🤗
All the best to the ice cream shop too, looks delicious!
did you notice the giant "mark" on her neck? oh, how i remember those days. lol
@@Midlife_Manical_Mayhem It looks like a birth mark, not what your thinking.
@@juststeph6701 sure🤣
Is it?
@@Midlife_Manical_Mayhem Wow, ok. I'd like to keep seeing Jason in the vids. Sure, we've all been there, but maybe not pointed out on social media.
My son has a home that is 100 years old , it had old wiring when he bought it . When he replaced all the old wiring he actually used the old push button switch plates to keep the old look in the house.
My grandparents married in 1916 and got a Seth Thomas mantle clock as a wedding present, it sits on my mantle now and still works. I don’t run it, keep forgetting to wind it, once a week, but it keeps pretty good time when I do wind it. It will go to my cousin’s oldest when I’m done with it, and he has two kids, so it will stay in the family.
A match book from the “Brown Derby” from downtown Cleveland, Ohio was a very classy place that famous people would not only eat there but people with money in the Cleveland Metro area, also! They closed down in the late 1960’s early 70’s! A Top Round Steak dinner would cost about $30.00. Most folks went on Sunday’a after church services or the Cleveland Brown’s games. When the Brown’s began losing after Jim Brown retired and the Brown’s lost game after game there was no one going to the games! The stadium was empty & very little activity in downtown Cleveland! So the Brown Derby closed it’s doors! It’s worth money to the right buyer who remembers going to the Brown Derby & it is still talked about today on the historical sites!
Love the brass pieces. I have been watching a Victorian house restoration that has light switches like the ones you showed. I wonder if he could use those? His channel is- The 2nd Empire Strikes Back. He just finished the bathroom and used those switches. Love the clocks too. Great to see the store again. Happy for the Ice Cream Shop. Looks like a success 👏
My thoughts exactly.
I just offered up my collection of door knobs and he didn’t show an interest
Maybe not the type he wants- someone else might. eBay?
@@jonijohnson5110 you could be right , I imagine he gets lots of offers
I watch him too and thought the same thing!
A few months later and would absolutely love a tour of the new restaurant next-door if they are willing!
The lamp is circa 1950’s “television lamp”. That’s when the tv screen wasn’t as bright, so they were a soft light turned on to keep from interfering with tv viewing.
Romeo seems awesome!! Good luck with the shop!!
Happy (belated) Canada Day! I hope the ice cream store is a huge success, they seem like nice people. Thanks for giving them some free exposure on your channel.
Oh my gosh, those trains! My parents had an old set that we would put together every Christmas until I was about 16. I think they belonged to my uncle. What fun it was to set it up and get it going.
I hope people buy ice cream from the new store. Looks like a fun treat for the local families 😊
WOW!!!!!!!! The best channel I have ever seen on TH-cam. I have only 'discovered' your channel yesterday, and been watching it since then all the time. Of cause I have subscribed, and will watch every post from now on, and catch up with all the previous posts. Do not know if you are interested to know it, but I am from Johannesburg, South Africa. Please keep up
the good work, Kind Regards, Johan.
Welcome!
Great finds
Didn't read all the comments, so don't know if you've got this info already, but David Lewis was indeed a watch and clock maker in Llangelynlin, Merionethshire, Wales. He was born in 1788, and died in 1884, at the ripe old age of 96. He had been a widow since at least 1861 (the furthest back I could trace him easily), and when he died, he was worth the equivalent of $82000. Since it took a number of years to master his trade, you can assume that the clock was made no earlier than 1810, but probably later than that (to have built enough of a success that he commissioned his name on the clock face). Cheers from Susan in Shelburne, ON
Such a cute ice cream shop! When you went to pull the paper out the case, all I could think was that it would be a grocery list. LOL
Talk to your ironworks connection - the one who just did the front gate of your old store - to possibly fix that clock piece.
Nice clocks! The little washboard looks like a salesman’s demo model.
How exciting to see the ice cream shop opening! It’s a cute shop, I’m sure they’ll be successful. Hoping you get someone for the store soon too. 👍🏼
They say there’s always someone who has an interest in old things, I just recently relinquished my door knob and skeleton key collection due to downsizing, I am grateful for the miles between us, because I would be trying to buy those 😉
The clock pieced together is stunning!
Love the look of the ice cream shop, best of luck to Romeo & Lily! You scored a nice assessment of "stuff". It may seem odd to be nostalgic about matchbooks but we always had them around the house when I was growing up! They made cute and useful little souvenirs as well as advertisement for the businesses ❤
Best wishes Romeo. Congratulations on the Opening !
Look at matchbooks sold items & sort highest to lowest - you will be SHOCKED at some prices realized. A LOT of them are valuable!!
Oh I wish them much Luck 🍀 it’s really a cute shop!!!
Hi Alex 🥰glad to see you again
I find that when the clock hand moves as you wind, that's the clock wind. The chime wind doesn't cause any movement on the face of the clock
Oh My Gosh the clocks ! Oh My Gosh the terrific ice cream/store. Beautiful day !
Love the ice cream shop... Around here we've had ice cream shops that did real good for about a couple years and next thing you know they close down...They never stay in business very long which is sad..
Really fascinating finds today. The asthmatic cigarette case is so interesting. I had never heard of such a thing. The trains, the grandfather clock… I could spend hours scanning those matchbook covers into my computer. Very, very cool!
David Lewis!
Right side is the main spring, left side is the chime side. They should wind clockwise on the chime side. Counter clockwise on the main spring side. The tiny pin at the top is to regulate the overall time keeping. Mine tends to run too fast, so I can back it off so that the hour hand actually takes 60 minutes to make one sweep of the face.
😋 I will have VANILLA!!!!! Congratulations to them and you Alex on your adventures.
Love the clock! So happy for the ice cream store.
Mint chocolate chip for me…💞. Wish I was closer. That mini sewing machine is neat.
Agree on the MCC!!
I think that’s a beautiful parlor rug
great thing about cutting a hard ribbon means, it's going to be a strong company and do really really well.
Yay! A Jason sighting! Handsome mini me.
and with a pretty young lady too...
I wish the ice cream shop a big success.
Ice Cream video on my birthday! Love it!:-) The "grandfather" clock is cool!
Happy birthday! Eat lots of cake or ice cream. Maby ice cream cake? It's really good for you.🍨🍰
The lamp is hard to find. Glass is usually broken. Great find!
Always love your show. You are an upbeat guy and you’re fun to watch. You and your family are awesome. Take care
Congratulations to the new ice cream shop may they sell cones above all the others
I hope the very best for Twice Cream!
Ice cream is always great and always good fun finding treasures!
Hooray! A video! So happy the ice cream shoppe is open…hoping for great success! I hope you can find someone to rent the store part! The two button light switch was like the ones in the farm house we moved into in 1956.
I love that grandfather clock. My great great grandfather was a cabinet maker in Wales and came to Canada in 1822, so I like to think that the clock cabinet may be like something he made. Thank you for showing it.
Love the little sewing machine.
Would be interested if it is for sale and love collecting these little machines.
Great to see the ice cream store open. You hurried out of your store only for it to be empty. 😔
You can always use the wash board for a musical instrument! 😅 I'm sure Elvis seen plenty of those. Lol
What a great addition to the neighborhood!
when I was growing up (in South Africa) a lot of places would give away match boxes/packs. Also if you were having a function you could contact any cigarette manufacturer and they would be happy to supply enough for all your guests
That ice cream shop looks really nice. Those are really interesting finds . Keep Safe ❤Keep Well ❤
Finding a Stormtrooper on top of a Nahtzee cigarette case was apt.
I guess it's time for:" I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream"! 😋
The bolt chasing the nut may also say " Not without a washer!".
Those are some cool finds. Especially the WWII cigarette case. Btw The Golden Nugget is in Las Vegas, NV and was o. The original Strip before they moved it to the current area. My family used to stay there in the 1970s when we'd visit.
Here's to much success for Twice Scream! Love that old Grandfather clock, hope you can get it working.
Oops, Twice Cream.
Best of luck to the new ICE cream Shop
Does every Canadian have hoards of antiques in their basement?!! You always seem to find such neat things! Hope you can find someone else to lease your store, I feel bad for the ice cream store that it's empty.
