I have been carrying mine for over 20 years. No complaints. Got in the 90s when a bunch flooded the US market, well over 2,000 rounds through it with no malfunctions. Change the grip to FAB Defense PM-G grips and it completely changes the character of pistol.
That's an amazing precision tool.... I think it's a beautiful gun...simple and reliable if used correctly and properly maintained... I cannot find these in California since they are illegal according to the Justice Department's list of prohibited firearms from the General public to ever own...
@Ivan Hernandez Makarov pistols were once available in California. I got mine Russian “Baikal” during the 90’s. For some reason the market dried up even before they implement the handgun roster. I think the only way to get one in California is through the used gun third party transfer. That is if anybody is willing to sell.

Your problem is that the grip screw is a bit too tight or too long. It is a common issue. Remove the mag and clear the weapo. stick your finger in the mag well and feel for the grip screw protruding in the mag well. If it does then file the screw down until it does not protrude into the mag well and then file a small bit more. I hope this helps. Stay safe.
I bought my 1st Surplus Makarov Pistol from Sportsmansguide and my 2nd Makarov I got it from Southern Ohio Gun. I paid a little extra for the best condition both my Makarovs are Bulgarian made.
Still CC my Makarov probably more often than my Sig P238 or P220. If you have one, try the Mesko ammo from Poland. Some of the best shooting 9x18mm I've ever had. The Maki seems to be inherently accurate just by design, but paired with good ammo it becomes even more so. I can keep all 8 shots in about a 5 inch circle at 25 yds, way beyond any normal self defense range. Plus it's fairly light and compact, and I like to carry one in the chamber, hammer down, no safety. First shot DA, the rest in SA. What more do you want from your CC?
I love mine...from Classic Firearms as well. I had a local holster maker provide me with an OWB holster and spare mag holder and I sometimes carry mine. It’s now had about 300 rounds, mix of factory FMJ, JHP and some old surplus...no malfunctions of any sort. The trigger is much better now...and it’s a tack driver...very accurate off-hand. Nice video...here is a peek at mine. th-cam.com/video/X5H37e0fSBg/w-d-xo.html
