Lowkey this video is misleading, they're hiding the kids so they can keep more at the house for more money, they probably freaked out when they saw a police car and 3 licensing boarding outside the house and put too many kids downstairs, still fucked up though.
It’s fair to say that she bit off more than she could chew and that her actions were wrong, but not to the extreme levels of evil that dramatic portrayals might suggest. It also raises questions about how much oversight and regulation there is for daycares, and how easily things can spiral out of control when corners are cut.
yeah. she took more children than her licensing allowed. the "smell of soiled diapers" and all that, I mean it's a daycare, it's not like the children were covered in shit. diapers sometimes need to be changed because babies shit in diapers... i don't know if they're always in the basement or elsewhere but too many for that small space for sure, I don't know if it's to the point of child abuse but that's not for me to decide. parents want to save money and leave kids at a strangers at-home day care, people are empathetic to. but someone cutting corners and taking in more children than allowed is "worthy of the death penalty" according to some comments. they did a great job building the story up as something spooky and sinister, but it's just a lady who wanted more money so she took in more kids. greed is no good, thank god she didn't actually have nefarious intent. "the child sometimes has nightmares and is scared of the dark" "thought it was normal child behavior, and it might still be the case" chat spamming Aware. come on, dude
The reason her sentence is one year is because she wasn't a human trafficker or a legit kidnapper like the title leads you to believe. She simply wasn't licensed to have that many kids in the daycare and tried to hide it, her intention was to run an illegal business, not harm the kids.
@A.J.6325 No, because human trafficking involves transporting and selling people for personal gain. She just committed a license infraction and hid the kids to try to get out of it.
Not only did she take more kids like you said, she was literally hiding them and was actively lying about their whereabouts. That deserves way more than a year.
In NO way am I justifying the girls actions, however I feel the need to clear some things up. Based on the video provided, it doesn’t seem that this daycare provider was trapping kids in the basement and starving/torturing them to death, no kids had injuries. I think what was actually going on was wrong, but not as twisted as people think. Seems like the girl took way too many kids, and to protect herself from licensing infractions she made a secret door to keep excess kids in the extra space, when needed. So like parents coming to pick up kids or license agents. She has 3 employees with her to help take care of the extra kids. So while I do agree it was wrong and against the law, I don’t think was quite as bad as this situation portrayed. The narrator even says, when the license agents showed up, all the kids were taken downstairs to hide. They were all down there specifically to hide from the agents in that moment. Probably smelled like diaper bc they were down there for 2 hours without supplies while the police were there. Now if they walked down to shit all over the walls and the kids handcuffed then okay I’d see the point. But this seems like purely a licensing issue that escalated because the girl didn’t want to face the music. The child abuse charge with no injury is once again, purely a licensing issue because she didn’t have “official means” to take care of that many kids. Whether she had practical supplies is irrelevant, it’s solely based on licensing.
People clearly didn't understand this. They read a Dramatized title and immediately jumped to the worst possible conclusion which i guess is understandable, but regardless. All this lady needed to do was get licensing and then she could have avoided this entire problem. If you run a daycare, ALL of you need to be properly LICENSED. Not to mention, How in the hell did the parents of any of those children never ask to see their Licenses? If i had a child and needed to put them in a daycare, i would ask to see their licenses before ever agreeing to put my child in the daycares custody period.
Well brother there is a reason why this industry is regulated with licensing and there is a limit. Do you think 3 adults are enough to take care of 20+ children in a small house like that?
@@gitgudgaming506 I don’t think the conditions were ideal for that many children, so I agree with the sentencing. I guess to say she JUST needs licensing is wrong, she also needs to provide the children with a proper facility and care. 3 adults is not enough to take care that many children properly. But at the same time this wasn’t a child killing factory. And she obviously knew she was pushing it because she went to the trouble of creating a secret wall to her basement and then continued to lie about it. I guess my point is just that it’s not as serious of a crime as a lot of commenters think. Everyone in the comments is saying she should be locked away for life because she was trapping children in the basement for years.. like no that’s not what was happening lol the children went home to their parents every night and obviously it wasn’t bad enough for them to feel like they needed to say something. She literally just got caught by licensing agents and it all escalated in the matter of hours.
there is a reason those regulations are in place and there is a reason she couldn't get a correct license. how were they not trapped in the basement? please explain how they are getting out on there own in an emergency situation?
The reason some of these kids are having sleep issues is because they are being kept in the dark and she is doing this out of greed. A big reason why there are limits. She’s also employing people with warrants that the parents aren’t ware of. There’s so much wrong with this and you are missing most of it

The house is up to standards as a daycare the basement was turned into the sleeping area which is typical of such facility. If she was not reported there would’ve been 5 adults working that day. What exactly was proven to be the abuse? She was done for taxes, taking more kids then her license allowed and two of her staff members were not fully trained. No abuse took place but why believe me go and check everything that’s out there but pls listen carefully to allegations before making assumptions. Also, check the stats to see how many kids are abused but truly by a family member. Everything is a witch-hunt in America…ah,
Here an idea. How about you yell down the vent, or through the floor? “ if there are any kids down stairs please yell back, we will RESCUE YOU!” That probably would have sped things up. And a simple call to the city Would probably confirm the blueprints that there IS a basement.
I came here to comment that his chat is stupid, but then I read these comments and it seems that most people are just confused to what actually happened. These kids were not kidnapped, the parents dropped them off there the same day. They babysit kids for money, and they have a legal limit they are allowed to babysit at a time, and this was their method of going beyond that limit. The worst thing they did was have them in a location in poor condition, which is what they got charged for.

Any overreaction could have caused a lawsuit if the PD was in the wrong and would have been bad for what looks like a severely underfunded department
when I first saw this, my initial reaction was that it was a get-out-of-dodge mass child trafficking case where she took on all the kids for the day and planned to sell em off or whatever before fleeing the country I'm glad it wasn't that, but that just calls into question just why were they so adamantly lying about the situation? sure they were violating the regulations and taking on more than they were supposed to, but it'd be far less punishing to just admit to that than to have all this happen and end up with jail time the jail time is also just disgustingly lenient; sure on the surface it's all just over a "licence infraction" meanwhile all of them colluded, lied, and deceived the police whilst traumatizing and neglecting the children all for the sake of making a bit more money; this kind of despicable behavior warrants far worse than what they got

When she wandered off to the toilet to do whatever she wants the cop should have been yelling orders and putting her in handcuffs, both of them and their phones confiscated until they find the kids. When they do finally put her in cuffs she orders them removed to give them what they asked her for and they do it lmao. I guess all you need to be is a middle aged, white woman and you can wrap cops and courts around your little finger. She locked kids in a basement, supervised by known criminals who shouldn't be allowed to do that job, all this behind a secret door she lied to cops about over and over. She should be locked up for life. Because she didn't punch a cop or get angry I guess that means she doesn't deserve the same treatment and sentencing. 1 year in jail for hiding kids in a basement, being a convicted criminal who shouldn't be there taking care of kids, having drugs around kids, skipping her court date again and not giving a damn about any of it. She would have got a bigger sentence and more rough treatment speeding with drugs in the care then flipping off a cop that stopped her lol. That's a bigger deal to cops then having drugs around kids.

@@doc3353 despite them having nightmares? lol. This is wrong on so many levels
She simply wasn't licensed to have that many kids in the daycare and tried to hide it, her intention was to run an illegal business, not harm the kids.
so human trafficking
@A.J.6325 No, because human trafficking involves transporting and selling people for personal gain.
She just committed a license infraction and hid the kids to try to get out of it.
Not only did she take more kids like you said, she was literally hiding them and was actively lying about their whereabouts. That deserves way more than a year.
what a trustworthy and kind-hearted individual, I would definitely have her babysit my kid in the secret basement

25 kids in a mini
I guess there's an unspoken 4th addition: Child Abuse.
Braindead comment. Brainrot even
In NO way am I justifying the girls actions, however I feel the need to clear some things up.

Look I get the concerns but there’s other points to criticize the officers about than not calling the whole PD to descend upon their location lmao. Up until the escalation near the end, there was no cause for that level of response as it’s all pure speculation and there was no kids REPORTED missing. Any overreaction could have caused a lawsuit if the PD was in the wrong and would have been bad for what looks like a severely underfunded department
They don’t punish people that endanger children enough. These laws suck! This country has to do better smhhh
when I first saw this, my initial reaction was that it was a get-out-of-dodge mass child trafficking case where she took on all the kids for the day and planned to sell em off or whatever before fleeing the country
I'm glad it wasn't that, but that just calls into question just why were they so adamantly lying about the situation? sure they were violating the regulations and taking on more than they were supposed to, but it'd be far less punishing to just admit to that than to have all this happen and end up with jail time
the jail time is also just disgustingly lenient; sure on the surface it's all just over a "licence infraction" meanwhile all of them colluded, lied, and deceived the police whilst traumatizing and neglecting the children all for the sake of making a bit more money; this kind of despicable behavior warrants far worse than what they got

When she wandered off to the toilet to do whatever she wants the cop should have been yelling orders and putting her in handcuffs, both of them and their phones confiscated until they find the kids.
Police officers hear childlike piano and crying children underneath your building, they ask you almost desperately multiple times, “there ARE children here, where are the children?” You deny and giggle in response to every question right up until they stumble across the SEAMLESS SECRET DOOR to your dimly lit room of 20 children.
