“I’ve never seen it shine, so bright before.. I stumble blind into the light of it all.” Kleiner reciting those lyrics is so haunting.. It’s like a callback to witnessing the crystal surging in power, mere seconds before humanity got its one way train ticket to the depths of hell..
I just wanna go ahead and thank you Ray for introducing me to Strata. They're one of my favorite bands now after I watched this video 10 years ago, and they've lasted through the years of my cynical music taste.
Hey Ray, I don't know if you're active much anymore, but this this video introduced me to Strata and they've become one of my favorite bands ever. Thank you for making this, It's incredibly well done for it's time and quite memorable to me.
even though its been over 4 years i still find my self listening to this....ray i hope you keep it up for machinima because you have don your fans damn proud!
Look at this video.. don't you think this relates to the actual hl2 lore, you notice that it relates to actual HL2 lore? As you can see it starts with a metro cop playing the drums to make some beats buts that's not all, Barney Coulhon appears in the video quite the man, to be involved since he was there since the beginning of the Half Life story. While Barney sings we can take a closer look at what he is saying, at the start he says "The room filled up with water and the roar of the crowd died" what we can try to infer from this information is that Barney gave us is that Earth has fallen and the population of it has died down into small numbers going further into the lyrics he says that he is the "I'm the ghost in the corner" referring that he wasn't much a significant of a character in Gordon Freeman's story which is you, the player compared to the other main cast such as Alyx, Eli and Issac Kleiner. While Barney Coulhoun sings we can Issac Kleiner flying by down "Water hazard" around at 0:39 in the video, while he was flying down on the rocket he sang "I've never seen it shine so bright before, I stumbled blind into the light, the light of it all. You've never seen it shine so hard before. You'd crumble underneath the weight, the weight of it all" This refers to the start of the resonance cascade which happened down in Black mesa where Eli, Issac, and Barney had worked at. The start of the cascade was a devastating one where all machinery in Black mesa had crumbled down and what most people could see down in the Black Mesa facility were bright explosions which Issac Kleiner has most likely seen. It then cuts back to barney singing in another verse which we will call "Verse 2" at the start of the verse he starts by saying "The walls of this city are all cold metal and stone but we're nothing permanent we're just soft skin and bones. I'm just the pins and the needles attacking your toes, I'm just a message saved On your phone a long time ago, Where I'm singing how." This could refer to where the combine had located the majority of mankind locked from the wasteland locking mankind into tight metal walls with patrolling Civil protection that ruthlessly beat the citizens that refuse to follow orders. it then goes over to the chorus again which I had gone through already, but we will go over some more as you can see at exactly 2:20 we can see a metrocop playing the guitar, perhaps it could be Barney's imagination, you would think that he would've gone crazy underneath Black mesa or maybe its Barney himself who is playing the guitar but we will never know much about this metro cop other than he is either Barney's imagination or himself. Then the outro begins "Oh.. I'm always with you, I never left you alone (oh..)" At 2:28 It then cuts back to the metrocop and Issac Kleiner playing the guitar, as you could feel tension then.. Issac Kleiner had suicide bombed the center of City 17, could this song be Barney Coulhon mourning his friend's death Issac Kleiner?
There are those times in life where you feel like a moment is truly epic.. the moment that nuclear explosion goes off and he hits that high note, the screens shaking, and your listening through headphones that make it sound so awesome.. its a moment where you just think.. Epic... This is, even for a virtual video game, A moment we were born to see. This is how you know a moment is epic. and that moment is.
Lyrics for anyone wondering. The room fills up with water and the roar of the crowd died down, they didn't hold their breath, they just waited to drown. Now I'm just the ghost in the corner that nobody knows. I'm just the chill in the air that comes and cuts you to the bone. I've never seen it shine so bright here before. I stumble blind into the light of it all. The walls of this city are all cold metal and stone, but we're nothing permanent we're just soft skin and bones. I'm just the pins and needles attacking your toes. I'm just a mesage you saved in your phone a long, long time ago where I'm singing how I've never seen it shine so bright before. I stumbled blind into the light, the light of it all. You've never seen it shine, so hard before- You'd crumble underneath the weight, the weight of it all. I'm always with you. I never left you alone. Jeez, that's such a perfect song choice for HL... Props man.
