Another wonderful lesson! I have a wagon wheel adorning my flower beds. It is one from my great uncle. He came here from Denmark with my grandfather and cleared land that is within a mile from where I live now. While I never knew my grandfather, my uncle, at 97 years old, used to take me for walks and teach me about trees and wildlife. I will paint this one in memory of him, as he was an amazing man. He lost his leg in a tractor accident, in which he was alone and had to remove the rest of his leg and crawl home for help. He had so many stories to tell, I loved spending time with him.
Thank you Ginger! I hear from so many people how your paintings/tutorials, either on TH-cam or the Academy Lessons will bring a memory and/or feeling. You have a gift for choosing lessons that touch so many people. Not only are they instructional, but the paintings themselves seem so motivational and touching.
Thank you Ginger for ANOTHER fantastic tutorial. I find that I learn so much with YOUR STYLE of TEACHING. It is the whole experience of your channel and tutorials that make up that experience. There is something about the laughter, companionship and joy that you have on your channel that makes it a pleasurable experience. I have to believe that the mind chooses to remember what is pleasurable over what is not. Thank you for all that you and Jon do, for free I might add, to give to others.
This reminded me of my mom's flowers...She had a big wagon wheel covered in purple Sweet Pea vines. The variety of greens with pea pods and blossoms and tendrils was just beautiful. We saved the seed every year and replanted them over and over. I love your painting !
TH-cam or the academy lessons, your instruction is phenomenal. I can accomplish works I never would have thought were in my wheelhouse and yet now there are masterpieces that adorn my walls. The confidence level I have in my own skills since following you in both locations is priceless. I encourage all my painting friends to at least try the week level membership once and just see if you don't wow yourself from following Ginger Cook.
Well all I can say is this is another wonderful FREE TUTORIAL from our wonderful Ginger. I know that I can speak for myself personally the wonderful gift I have been given by joining the Academy. At the risk of baring all here, I will say that I suffer from several health issues and my finances are extremely tight as in non existent at times. I was given a scholarship from Ginger and Jon so that I could join and be a part of this wonderful group. I cried when I found out the generosity that they bestowed on me. If it wasn't for there willingness to help others I would never have been able to join. My deepest wish is that I will someday be able to make donations so that others in my situation can experience the same gift. I truly feel that having Ginger as an Instructor has been a privilege and I am learning more every day. Not only via the Academy where I get art coaching, but the lessons here on TH-cam. I consider myself one of hundreds who gain great tutorial instruction from them and guess what?!? They are FREE! So I am sending out a gigantic thank you to Ginger and Jon for all the time they contribute to making us all be better painters and people. Sending Big Art Hugs from a really grateful student:)
I am so happy for you Sheila! I'm crying for you....I can understand exactly how that surprise gift would make me feel! These 2 people are fabulous individuals!
We are so very touched by your kind and supportive words. art hugs from Texas. (ps. find the book "the medical medium. ) (my soul said to tell you that).
Thank you so much Ginger. I meant every word and truly love to be a part of this. I will look for the book for sure and I'm sure it will be great. A big thanks to your wonderful soul :) I like to read as many positive and spiritual things I can. It helps so much and makes you feel better on those tuff days. Just know that both you and Jon totally Rock and have enriched my life tremendously. Can't wait till the next live FREE tutorial :) Lots of love to you both....
Robin thank you so much for your kind words. And you could not be more right about these two wonderful people. I feel truly blessed. This is the best group ever and I'm so glad to be able to share this experience with great people such as yourself who all share the same interest. Thanks again for your great support. Paint on :)
Beautiful painting! 100 percent ... LOVE this format, calm, focused, screen is not distracting. When I have time to paint, it is to relax and unwind so the 'focused' tutorial is very helpful. I sincerely appreciate all the wonderful art you have taught.
I't s been 3 years since I follow Ginger. I've been a member of her academy. She is a wonderful teacher and her competence is huge ( is it correct?). She must be paid! It's her work and what we pay ( if one is a member) is ridiculous, is simbolic because she would deserve much more. There are so many free videos on you tube so, dear Miss ( I don't remember your name) don't complain ammore! Thank you Ginger and Jon!😍
Amazing lesson... I laughed so hard at the end when you kept adding just one more thing! Lots of hugs! I hope you and Jon enjoy your vacation! Loved this one!
It bears repeating, Ginger and Jon are creating a community where real skills are taught in a relaxed environment and they share an amazing amount of high quality material for free. A great lesson and a generous teacher!
Another super painting Ginger. I need to practice my loose style a lot more so this is on my list. I know I am an Academy member and I can access you only teaching awesome paintings but I do miss Jon and the banter and laughs of Ginger Cook live You Tube tutorials. Tell Jon we miss him. Have wonderful break and travels. Hugs to you both xxxx
Ginger Cook - I am so sorry Jon is not feeling 100% and has been working too many long hours. Please rest Jon. We love you and need you back with us but not at the expense of your health. Sending love, hugs & healing xxxxx
Thanks so much Ginger and Jon! Love your tutorials, here on TH-cam and the Academy. So grateful to be a part of this wonderful group, and your guidance is priceless. Not much in life is free, unlike yoyr TH-cam videos. We are all very appreciative and thrilled to have your guidance and support, and Jons constant tiis and tricks! We love you! 💞
Another stunning abstract, Ginger! It seems to me that, in an abstract, the viewer is really helped by the elements that have a reliable structure, like a wheel with spokes or citrus fruit with segments. Segments and spokes let us fill in the blanks. I also notice that my eye is drawn to the sections of the front wheel, light green surrounded/outline with the dark edges of the wheel. Thank you for generously sharing how you turn a flat surface into a DEEP COLORFUL WORLD!
Beautiful! I love your loose style and and confident brush strokes. I am blown away by how much content we can get by subscribing to your paid lessons, and completely amazed how much you give all of us for free entirely. You hardly charge anything for access to hundreds of lessons, and constantly have no-charge videos on TH-cam. Free videos. Art lessons for free.
thanks Rachel. and just as a side note, there are hours and hours of pre painting and research before you guys ever see a tutorial or TH-cam and Academy. Yet how wonderful to be able to do what one loves and was born to do in life. Jon and I are extremely grateful to our Academy members and TH-cam fans that support us.
You have a way of making me feel so relaxed about painting. Your instructions are so easy to understand and you make it seem possible for anyone. Great teaching and great lesson.
Oh my goodness. I can't believe anyone would say that. It's a shame. I love your videos Ginger. You and Jon make my day when you come on. I'm sick and don't get out much so I look forward to your TH-cam live shows. I'm so sorry anyone could be so mean. Keep up the good work. Thank you for all you do.
Loved this Ginger. Was lots of fun! I want to start to be much looser, it's hard for me, I've always tried to paint everything so realistic . Anyway I always enjoy watching you and ty so much!
There's always got to be at least one sour apple in the bunch (Ms. Marsh) I don't always get into the banter with Ginger and Jon, but I use it as background noise as I try to catch up with Ginger if I'm painting along. As Ginger and Jon said, there are plenty of other youtube channels to watch if this particular one annoys you so much. Ginger, don't take this personally, because I did find it hard to watch your channel at first (mostly because of the quality of the video..now you have awesome cameras!), but I kept revisiting your channel because I seemed to learn the most from you! Your "trick" of making a grid has saved me so many times! Your "where there is dark, there is a light" is something I chant when I'm trying to fix something. I wish I could afford your academy, but it's just not in my budget these days. I do appreciate your knowledge and it makes me sad when some feel it's necessary to attack your personality. I've grown to adore you and Jon, your stories of childhood and travels, and most of all, how you make us all feel that anything is possible in terms of our art. You help me lighten up and just go with the flow and just have fun. Your channel is an acquired taste and I'm glad I kept coming back for more. Please don't change a thing!
that Joanne, doing a bit more of this style as its fun to play with and has a modern current feel to what is selling for people now in the art market. I want our members to be able to sell their art successfully if they want to.
The Wagon Wheels and Flowers painting is very pretty. I learn a lot about mixing colors and complimentary colors from you. I'd like more information about your classes as I am taking private lessons and don't want to spread myself too thin, but I am interested. I am a beginner senior. I like your style of teaching. Much happiness, Teresa
All I want to say to the people who believe they should get free stuff. I would like you to run a business that you do for free... As for traceable Ginger isn't about that she encourages you to draw. That woman gives Scholarships to people who can't afford to paint. Because they can't even buy supplies. How do I know... I received a scholarship. They didn't tell me I had to paint 4 paintings a month to keep. Because I had cancer they wanted me to have a plcee. To hide from the world. I challenge you or anyone one to go work a 40 + hour a week and hand your check to a homeless person. I am sure having a steady income makes people complain about what they get for free. Angela, Jane or the Artsherpa DO NOT GIVE FREE SCHOLARSHIPS. THEY DONT SEND GIFT CARDS TO PEOPLE WHO CANT BUY PAINT. THIS IS A BUSINESS PEOPLE YET THEY GIVE AND GIVE WHAT DO THE OTHERS DO?
Ms. Marsh isn't going to understand any reply to her comment earlier. You can help the ignorant but there is no help for the plain stupid. People who are miserable in their own lives whether they admit it or not, will spew venomous words to others to try and bring them down as well. Sad. We are a worldwide community who love, respect and appreciate Ginger and Jon. That's the focus. Supporting them in anyway that we can.
I am new to acrylic paints. Is there something you put in your paints to keep them from drying out yo fast? And I love this tutorial and glas I found you...
Ginger I didn't realize that you could get ultra marine blue in green shade and red shade. I ordered a big jar of it but it says green shade. So now seeing this video I realize I need red shade! So what dam color did I get? LOL LOL Is there a color comparable to my green shade? I guess it won't make my olive color grass . lol
If you have access to a printer, just print the final image, place tracing paper on this, trace away.... then retrace this to your canvas. Easy peasy 😊
Very nice tutorial, could follow along without the distraction of Jon and toys. Very disappointed that you have chosen to only allow access to traceable to those who can afford to pay for your Academy. I understand that you and Jon are building a business but using a traceable to get new members is not really helping your art community. But as Jon would say - watch another channel so perhaps I will.
Well, I for one, love the "distraction" of Jon and "toys", who happen to be Sammy & Chester. Other people charge you on Patreon to get their traceables. Ginger is the only one I know of offering personal art coaching in her academy. $30/month is far less than you would pay for a paint & sip class. I am most appreciative of Ginger's time and expertise. And I would never post to anyone's channel what you have said. I've always been taught "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all".
I believe Angela Anderson charges for hers on her channel though Patreon. . My daughter the art sherpa does not. We put up TWO FREE REALLY GREAT videos a week on youtube, and allow people to watch all 350 of our lessons on our paid Art Academy for a full week 24/7 for under $10.... if you think we are being unfair that i am sure the art sherpa would welcome your patronage. Jon and I have do this full time and most people are very appreciative of what we do and who we are. we were probably never your channel or art club.
Perhaps you should watch another channel, not sure what you do for a living but I'm sure you wouldn't offer to just do it for free.... Certain styles of teaching don't speak to everyone and that's ok but you really don't need to be rude about it. I'm guessing you may want to skip the Art Sherpa too, she wears fun hats.
Diana Marsh I love watching Ginger, no matter the circumstances. I love it when "Jon and toys" are there, too. The interaction causes an atmosphere of having fun while learning. I laugh at lot too. Good medicine for the soul. The academy is a wonderful tool and with personal art coaching, it can’t be beat. Ginger doesn’t have traceable that are drawings of the subject like Angela Anderson or the Art Sherpa. She chooses to show you how to draw it yourself. This adds a new dimension to painting. I’m proud to be a part of her art world....and of Jon and his toys. Relax and let the learning begin. ♥️♥️
I love Ginger and Jon, Sammy and Chester they are not a distraction - they are part of the experience of Ginger Cook Live. I am a member of the Academy by my own choice but have not used any of the traceables. I print out the reference painting and, if necessary, trace the major portions on my canvas. Bye - won't miss you.
Another wonderful lesson! I have a wagon wheel adorning my flower beds. It is one from my great uncle. He came here from Denmark with my grandfather and cleared land that is within a mile from where I live now. I cannot wait to paint this. I grew up on a farm in Germany and we had those wagon wheels everywhere. Reminds me of home

You are the "Master 'ess". Your painting is beautiful as always, hope you and Jon get some R&R, Big art hugs from CT

Loved this Ginger. Was lots of fun! I want to start to be much looser, it's hard for me, I've always tried to paint everything so realistic . Anyway I always enjoy watching you and ty so much!
This turned out lovely. Loose, colourful and pleasant to gaze ate.
That is so beautiful. I love your style so much. The tutorial was very good. Thank you GInger!
Thank you so much.
This is Beautiful! I don’t know if I’m going to have a lifetime to do all your beautiful paintings you teach ❤️
Love this!! But then, I love all your art instruction.Thank you for your generosity :-)

I just love this technique.
that Joanne, doing a bit more of this style as its fun to play with and has a modern current feel to what is selling for people now in the art market. I want our members to be able to sell their art successfully if they want to.
Thanks Ginger & Jon got my painting today...just beautiful...jug and apples...makes mine look a bit to be desired.
Beautiful thank you
This was a fun one, and one I think a lot of people are gong to try to paint.

Hey Ginger and John :-)
Well Tonia good friend, your love and support is always appreciated and right back at ya. too.
I am new to acrylic paints. Is there something you put in your paints to keep them from drying out yo fast?
And I love this tutorial and glas I found you...
no I just make sure I put out enough. But you can get a fine mist water bottle and spray the paint once in awhile too.
Ginger I didn't realize that you could get ultra marine blue in green shade and red shade. I ordered a big jar of it but it says green shade. So now seeing this video I realize I need red shade! So what dam color did I get? LOL LOL Is there a color comparable to my green shade? I guess it won't make my olive color grass . lol
just add red to it.
As I look at your painting and your color mixing, if you add stems you have another painting/////////cool
I love it Ginger! So sad to hear traceables will only be for Academy members. I just don't have the money. 😐
They are on the Academy site, just scroll down to you tube videos. they get replaced when new stuff comes out. So get it quick.
If you have access to a printer, just print the final image, place tracing paper on this, trace away.... then retrace this to your canvas. Easy peasy 😊
Or block of the print kmage kn a grid style, grid your canvas, and draw in what is seen in each grid box
Tricia B Thank you! 😊❤
I think you mean "impressionist" instead of abstract..
Its sort of a combination I think. I have been trying to decide as there is a blending more like watercolor but finished like oil in acrylic.
I think that this is a figurative abstract painted with an impressionistic style.
Very nice tutorial, could follow along without the distraction of Jon and toys. Very disappointed that you have chosen to only allow access to traceable to those who can afford to pay for your Academy. I understand that you and Jon are building a business but using a traceable to get new members is not really helping your art community.
So beautiful. You're a great teacher. I look forward to each lesson😀
thanks so much Karen. I appreciate the positive feedback.
