I just rook delivery on mine, and couldn’t be happier. This handles my 19lb camera build with ease. The bottom line for a head is “how smooth is it?” After 25+ years in the business, i can say without exaggeration that this outperforms any tripod under $10k that I’ve used or owned. I want it to hold upover time, of course, but for $400 It’s practically disposable.
I actually pulled the trigger on this tripod earlier today (before watching your video), it has a lot of nice little features like the lighted bubble that I haven't seen on any other tripod in this class but one thing that I didn't like was that it has a floor spreader which is fine if you are shooting on a indoor on a flat surface. When I found out the sell a mid level spreader I decided to purchase it. Hopefully this will work for my needs. Good job on the video Chris.
Great review and thanks for sharing your experiences! Tripods are an interesting beast. Many work well but I recommend that for fast tracking and super smooth movements it’s all about counter blanching and that microsecond as movement starts and stops. That fraction of a second is what separates the good from the bad, especially when shooting at longer focal lengths. Regarding counter balance, your camera must never drift as you tilt and let go of the handle it should sit there, slow drift at 600mm will ruin any shot. I should also mention……I recommend, if you can consider that the fluid head is 80% of the performance of a tripod system, over spend here. A good set of legs can be had for reasonably cheap but a cheap head will just ruin your day. Hope this adds to the discussion. Cheers
I have concerns about how long it will last. I do like the one stage, handle, and bowl fluid head. I am impressed with what Sirui is doing in the industry right now.
I don't understand WHY many P/V/F TH-camrs constantly say that the subject matter of tripods is boring or "unsexy". As literally one of the most CRUCIAL pieces of equipment a filmmaker needs, the tripod/monopod is one of the most *_EXCITING_* things you can THINK about, much less talk about in connection to your craft, especially depending on the quality, the build and advanced features _(where applicable)_ of the tripod at hand -- especially in the budget/affordable range. Speaking of which, on another note -- I also don't understand why people consider $420 a _budget_ price, especially coming from Sirui.
$420 is absolutely a budget tripod system, when name brands like Miller, Vinton and Sachtler are 10x or 20x the cost, and Manfrotto and other budget offering cost significantly more than this, while performing worse.
Well, here's the thing,@@Sunporchmedia -- Miller, Vinton, and especially Sachtler are the big guys -- direct defaults for the motion picture industry. So, those names aren't even a discussion when it comes to those of us in indie/hobbyist/prosumer market. However, "budget" level pricing tends to be more so usually under $200, whereas $420 is more in the "affordable" range. Follow what I mean?
seriously whats the point if a vast mayority are saying iphones are better than high end cameras? I know its a click/ragebait when they compare highendcameras to iphone to then reveal the good looking one was the iphone all along but how will this came to be in the eyes of the clients? they will think they themselves can do it with their phones and how ive seen it happens before they contract a videographer, they hear some tiktok news about phones, never hire the videographer again, try filimng themselves with their phones, fail and never try to expand their businesses with videography ever again.
ive had a really rough time and had to sacrifice way too much to admit just to save for the fx6 lenses and gear for some upcoming gigs. I have the studies and 3 years of experience ( I know im starting) but now that im almost there on the budget I cant help to click on those iphone videos and think to myself if Ill ever recover the ammount of money invested on all this gear or if people will not care about film anymore because of the iphone rumour and anyone being able to do it rumour. that plus AI video
This is really an informative video 👍 Thanks for always bringing amazing videos for people like us who are interested in cameras and gears. These Tripods are great, I think I will need one in future for myself 🤍 Thanks for the giveaway, will love to enter ~
For $420, actually a SOLID solution for most people! What do you think?

I appreciate the review. I have other Sirui products and they make really great, affordable equipment.
