Great example of humility and openness here. Thanks for the reminder.

Revisiting this excellent short video. Especially good for having a thorough safety plan in place with phone numbers.
Well, it finally happened to me. After > 30 years of working in my shop, I had to go to the ER. My push stick touched the blade on a table saw and kicked back into the palm of my right hand. It tore a 1" square of my skin back. You could see the muscle below and fortunately didn't tear any nerves or tendons. Bleeding profusely, I immediately put a rag and a spring clamp on it. I then switched the clamp to a tennis ball (which matched the curve of my palm) and a neoprene glove to hold the ball in place. I showered, changed and drove to the ER where I got 6 stitches. The doc told me that the quick response to clamping the skin back in place likely saved me from having extensive grafts. It healed quickly and I have feeling in the skin. They also gave me a wrist brace that had a metal bar which extended over the palm so I could still use my hand.
The lesson: experience doesn't replace vigilance. Think in advance of ways to prevent injuries. Stay calm and deliberate in an emergency.

I'm glad that you took the comments that way, but it was all out of self interest. We only want you to be around to make many more brilliant woodworking videos. One thing I still need to do is buy a silicone wedding ring. They are cheap and great for anyone involved with athletic or hazardous activities. Besides, I have abused mine by working with sandpaper, tools and lots of other harsh surfaces.
