    Mike, thanks for the ideas and inspiration on my build using an 86 Nissan 4x4.
    V6 Engine powering big 13-64 GPM hydraulic pump, with hydraulic motor powering the transmission for hydrostatic drive.
    Can't wait for the next video...and don't worry about the negatives, someone always wants to be somebody else's boss/no-it-all!

    Looking great Mike. When you stood in front of it to start it I said. “Next step. Build a dashboard so you can start it from the seat.” and then you gave us the teaser at the end. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    Shorting you on gas has become an industry standard. Even ten years ago I had to check every bottle before it left the truck. Only a few times of that and I started getting full tanks. Fantastic build, beautiful workmanship. I wish I had have had the opportunity to learn CAD but I'm a little over the hump now. Not sure how much longer im going to be fabricating. Watching you is pretty easy on my body! Keep up the good work!

    Have you thought about a dozer blade attachment? you already have the hydraulics. would come in handy for spreading whatever your carting.

    • @adhdieseltech236
      @adhdieseltech236 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My Opinion it could definitely work, it’s just about if cost is a problem. It’d be another $1000 to run hydraulics and make a blade

    • @lostin.psychosis7080
      @lostin.psychosis7080 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just throw a straight blade from a snow plow truck on it they come with their own hydrolic systems and you can pick up a used one pretty cheap

    • @myopinion69420
      @myopinion69420 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lostin.psychosis7080 That's a good idea and would be all you need for the type of work i'm guessing it would be doing/ (spreading gravel / woodchips, flattening pathways and such)

    • @Lucas-qb3bs
      @Lucas-qb3bs 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      My Opinion only thing is that you might need to modify the plow to make it not as heavy and have a better edge on the bottom

  • @glenking3337

    May I suggest that when you build the bed. Make it easily removable so that you can have different bed platforms for multiple purposes. Like one dump bed, one log skidder/tow truck bed. Maybe with grapple arm like Donn DIY logging trailer. Oh and then Donn's Homemade MatTraks. Ohhh I am so damn jealous of you guys and your youth, and tool capabilities!

    Awesome build. This would be like a $20,000 machine assuming you could even find one. And the fact you built it yourself will make any future repairs super simple. I'd put up some vertical posts behind the seat in case of a rollover. And you can use the posts to add a roof to protect from the elements. I am sure you already had it planned.

    I love your videos! My grandfather was a tinkerer and after WWII bought some stamping and rolling machines from aircraft manufacturers as scrap and rebuilt them . One of his first projects, he made a steam powered locomotive the size of a bathtub and it looked like a real train from the 40-50's with several cars, working lights and about 5 miles of track made from 2" I beams that went around his farm. Some guy bought it after he passed away for $100k from our family. I think you're a lot like him :-)

I hope that you submit your final work to Harbor Freight for their project video's and I really think they would consider becoming a sponsor to your channel. I would love to visit your shop and spend some time in what looks like a beautiful area but then I know so many others would as well so that is not going to happen. I'd have a hard time choosing between this and donndiy's tracked amphibious vehicle as my absolute favorite diy from scratch ground vehicle build (sorry guys, Mike Patey has my vote for over the top amazing - Draco! ... And scrappy is no slouch either.)
    But even though i can't see myself ever affording to do an aircraft like Mike Patey, I have a HUGE interest in maybe following your example someday and building something useful like this. There's SO MUCH POTENTIAL in a platform like this. Thanks for the continuing inspiration and enjoyment!

    Great stuff, Mike! So funny hiw people jump and skip thru videos instead of watching them all the way through...then they’re so quick to comment on things that you’ve already explained in the video, like the temporary seat and battery. Sheesh! I guess people haven’t figured out how to change the TH-cam Video Playback Speed so they can view the entire video in a shorter amount of time. I use it all the time! Saves me hours without sacrificing missing content! Love the build! Talk soon! ohh....and I might be needing one of those gear reduction jackshafts for one of my projects! I just finished building a Honda GX390 with electric start, essentially same engine as the HF 420.

I think your design and fabrication is top rate. 1st gear still doesn't appear low enough especially carrying a load up or down a steep hill. 10-1 might be a better granny gear. The steering is incredible. Have you worked out the hydraulics for the dump bed? How about fabing your own skidding winch for timber retrieval.

    Whoever thought you had the battery settled there permanent and the ktm seat as a permanent solution is as limited as a balcony. Keep up the good work and keep us hocked.

      Right on Brian thanks for commenting and checking out my videos! Yes Salvaging is great 👍 Have you see my bandsaw mill? It was the first project I ever posted on TH-cam. It’s almost completely built out of salvaged parts. Take care and hello from The Pacific Northwest in Washington state 👍

    That design is top notch! Really like the battery install. Well thought out, and implemented build. Economical and hard working, Subscribed!

    You were spot on with the 8 to 1 ratio, that is plenty fast enough for the design of the machine. I think it's going to be awesome when completed. One note I'd put a small hydraulic cooler in front of the engine off a case 222, 444 extra because when you start using it your going to be heating up the hydro and then you'll have everything leaking and falling.

    Very inspiring build. The outcomes speak for themselves. Wouldn't worry too much about the trolls.

    This is an amazing video series. You do great work. I aslo think its funny that everyone is somehow a mechanical engineer as soon as they see somethinf they dont like, finished or not lol. I think its fantasic and you have a greay way of explaning stuff. P.S. good job on that shifter. Being able to work it so the pattern isnt flipped was a really neat move, especially for how simple you made it.
