Horus HOVR 5-20x50 Scope Review: Budget Tremor 3 Scope

  • Will the Tremor 3 and Tremor 5 reticles scratch that long range shooting itch you've had at the range? Check out Horus's own optic, the Horus HoVR 5-20x50 scope. It's essentially a rebranded Nightforce with a choice of the Tremor 3 reticle, Tremor 5 reticle, or the original H59 reticle. As you might expect, the controls are precise and the image is sharp. It takes 30mm accessories, too, so you can drop this scope onto any of your rifles using commonly available mounts and rings.
    ~Budget is still $1500.

    Great review. Thanks. I have one in Tremor 5-excellent scope. I'm pretty sure it's a rebranded Nightforce NX8. Of which I have 3-in Tremor 3.

    June, 2024. The Vortex Gen 2 with a tremors reticle is over 4 thousand dollars. It is the third most used scope used by PRS shooters in competitive shooting. This scope , the gen two, has gone up in value. The Leupold Mark 5 with a tremors reticle, goes from 2.3 to 2.8 thousand dollars. The Leupold has done well in PRS, and was the most used scope by winners. I own the Vortex and am happy with it. Source: "what the pros use" and Vortex and Leupold web sites.

      The second most winning scope 2024, in PRS, is the Tanget Theta. Its pretty expensive.

      There's a lot to talk about. I'm actually kinda excited about these times. We've lived a wishy-washy cultural Christianity for a long time; now we're getting to a point where people will have to decide: will we actually choose to follow Jesus? We won't be able to coast anymore.

      @@SocialRegressive I am very impressed with the clarity of this scope. The reticle is new to me so I will wait for any comments concerning that. If you bore sight a bit on the low side your first shot will be in the lower part of the reticle allowing you to use the reticle to zero. I used 3 rounds to get a zero and I was off and running. So far I am very impressed. I have not used the range finder/Bluetooth feature yet.

      It is hard in a recession type inflation times to have spendable cash for a scope on a Savage .

    • @jayjudd6518
      @jayjudd6518 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ok ❤ your excitement but your homemade Savage more money on the rifle, not so much on the scope. But as I said, inflation, recession, spendable cash just so you have it . your not putting it on the AR?

      Thanks for checking in, Eddie. Nice to hear from you, and I hope everything's going well over there. Last time we chatted, you were in a real rough patch.
      I didn't want to stop production this way; I hoped to at least put out a goodbye. Between work and family, I'm out of time. The last time I fired a round of ammo was about a year ago. I hope to get back to production someday, probably years in the future. Keep your eyes open, though. I have other ideas in mind. We'll see! If I ever get back to production, I'll be looking for you, buddy! I always appreciate chatting with you. Until then!

    Have you looked at the 25-45 Sharps? I know this is not a cartridge thread but it's your newest I found.
    25-45 Sharps is .223/5.56 necked up to .257. In my opinion keeping the 5.56 bolt face is a big deal. I've reloaded 80 grain ttsx to 3000 fps and 100 grain tsp to 2700 fps. I like Barnes bullets! I've also loaded lead core bullets from 110 grain FTXs to 120 grain Game Kings and find it is the balistic twin of the 6.5 Grendel. I used 26 to 28 grains of Ram Tac and cci 41 primers for these loads and although slightly compressed there were no preassure. signs. My barrel is 20 inch. The only improvement I would do is maybe sprinkle some Ackley on it to get a little more performance.

      Hey there, Ron. Thanks for checking up on me. I'm doing fine, but I suddenly lost the ability to produce videos. The last time I was at the range was, I think, a year ago. I didn't want to stop, but circumstances forced my hand. I'm bummed that I wasn't even able to film a goodbye video. I'll be back someday. Not sure when. Till then, shoot straight, man! Or curvy, if the wind is being obnoxious.

    If this is the same as Nightforce SHV 5-20/56, then NF is cheaper by about $300. Then why would you still go with Horus???

    • @SocialRegressive

      Match Pro all the way. The only thing it lacks is a lot of turret travel. But most people don't shoot that far.
