I know this is 10 months old but I have the 7’6” MH F rod on a shimano sustain 4000XG with a 20lb braid to 20” of 25lb mono leader. I can use this on the beach when I’m surf fishing as a “buddy” rod throwing spoons and artificial lures. I personally think 4000 is the max for these rods.

  • @therealstormyd6572

7'2" med h with toadfish new 4000 reel recently purchased. I fish for stripes (check my vids)always been a Penn man but over the years I feel like the quality went down. Toadfish performance is on another level. They put the fun back in to working lures for me pain free .love Toadfish. Performance,10 toughness and durability remain to be seen

Fished with a guide inshore last year off GA coast using Toadfish gear. Had never heard of it. Shark, drum, flounder and trout all caught with really good feel. Rod tip telegraphs strike extremely well. Reel handled 32" red drum and a 5 foot shark no problem. Lots of fun on the medium action. Fast tip not only sensitive on bites but slings lighter lures well with enough power for good sized fish.

I absolutely love my 7’2 medium. The weight is fine for me and I don’t mind the split grip and I really like the little finger grove on the bottom grip, yet I do wish it was just a bit shorter. First fish I caught was a 27in red. I watched him eat it, not unlike the videos y’all put up recently.

I bought travel one - I will not buy it again - they sell things different from advertised,i purchased this one through Fishbrain site and it is says 1/8-3/4 oz, but in fact they will send you one with 1/4-1 oz. This is Huge difference for one wjo using small lures.Even with 1/4 you cannot cast for more than 15 meters. Action - it should be fast, but i cannot feel the bites. I opened the paypal dispuite and they refusing to refund. Moreover - one tip was broken, so they contacted me and told that they will send new rod , and I agree with that despite the fact that the original one was sent not as described. After I agreed they just sent me 1 replacement tip instead. So at the end - I have unwanted purchase that was not sent as described. I tried to write a review on their site but it is impossible if I put it on 1 or 2 star , it is censored or whatever reason, I dont know. All reviews on site seems only from one or 2 last months, this is looks strange

Toadfish rods are junk. They will snap out of nowhere on a cast or while you're trying to net a catch. They will try to give you a new one for half price.
The last one 7'6" medium heavy snapped in half casting a greenback with a split shot.

You have to question the wisdom of anyone that names fishing gear Toadfish. It's like naming a line of chicken products Salmonella. You don't want to catch either of them.
