Its probably because its a super popular game. Thanks to updates this last month or two, it can actually run on GPUs less than a Titan (seriously, my Titan Xp struggled to go above 70 fps at 1080p...). Now it runs 4k native at about the same FPS, though really for this inconsistent game (aiming choppy, also multiple things tied to internet ping), you want in the 200+ fps, so I run 4k low. CPU doesn't seem to matter, Ryzen 1800x at 220 fps, overclocked i7 6700k at 230 fps, old FX-8350 stock at 200 fps, doesn't seem to make much difference. The CPU tests were at lowest settings at 360p with a Titan Xp (Ryzen), GTX 1080 (i7), and GTX 960 (FX).
Jake Garrett that’s weird that your titan couldn’t run it well. I’ve had the game since October and it’s run fine on my 780ti at 1080p all high with a solid 110fps.
I'm thinking it was mostly Pascal being affected (cousins GTX 1080 was getting about 40 fps at 1080p epyc settings). Even mixed ~medium settings 1080p, I was getting pretty bad fps with the Titan. I don't think his brother's GTX 960 was taking as much of a hit, though it is running much better with recent updates. I haven't tried my R9 Fury cards (the game is incredibly Nvidia biased). I'm pretty sure performance went up for every card since then, I just can't remember what they ran to begin with, so I wouldn't really know.
Spend an extra $100 and get the version with the i5-7200 an nVidia 940MX and 8GBs of RAM. That's what I opted for and I definitely don't regret it. It also comes with a 256GB SSD rather than a mechanical HDD
DeliZoZo you might be using the integrated graphics instead of the nvidia card. My laptop always used to default to integrated graphics to save battery life. You need to go to the Nvidia control panel and change the settings so that the graphics card is the default for games
DeliZoZo hey!! I have the video laptop (4gb ram and Intel hd 620; which Fortnite says its OK as minimal requirements) BUT IT DOESNT RUN!! not even on minimum graphic settings!! How come!? Any suggestions!??
If you are going to go through the expense of upgrading to the SSD and 4 GB Ram. I suggest this one "Acer Aspire E 15, 15.6" Full HD, 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8250U, GeForce MX150, 8GB RAM Memory, 256GB SSD" as you get the ram, bigger SSD, better 8th gen I5 and a MX150. For the $150~ increase over the one in this video plus suggested upgrades.
I had this laptop for about 4 1/2 months now and it is amazing with 8g of ram and the ssd. I can play cs go at higher settings. From someone who uses this laptop almost all the time. It is worth it. You were correct Austin
No, he's too low end. Just go look at the competitor, Linus. Linus will give you much more value for your money and he can get wicked sponsorship deals like when Seagate gave him a petabyte of storage for free, or Intel giving him a $2500 Xeon Phi. If you buy a Linus, the brand deals alone would make him worth it. P.S. Austin is great and I'm just making a joke here
I have the 550 dollar one with a dedicated graphics chip, 8 gigs of ram, and a 256 gig SSD. It runs a lot of games such as CS-GO, Fortnite, and more less demanding games, just be sure to change the graphics in Nividia Control Panel to High-performance Nividia Processor. The same exact model is no longer available sadly but just wanted to share. Pretty cool to see the product I own represented! Cheers!
My dell laptop cost like 50-100 more and has a terrible screen, worse trackpad, lower than average speakers, absolutely horrendous battery life (about 4 hours or less on light browsing google chrome) not great for games, bad camera, slow laptop, 6gb ram but makes no difference, laggy, some bloatware, screen flexes, speakers aren’t loud and I have *WAY MORE TO SAY* but the laptop model is Dell Inspiron 15.6 6gb ram core i3 3000 series 1tb hard drive

I've dropped this on tile floor and while the plastic cracked,my computer is still fully functional 3 years and 4ft drops to the floor later. Truly an amazing computer. The RAM memory upgrade Nitro boosts this PC. I'd buy it again if it didn't double in value :(
I have the i5-7200U one and I gotta say that this is a really good laptop still. I upgraded the monitor to an IPS panel, added another ssd since mine already came with one, gave it another 8gb ram since it had 8 initially, and when my speakers blew in it, I bought a new set on ebay for roughly 7 dollars and had working speakers again. I also hackintoshed it and switched to a broadcom wifi card and everything works on it. It isn't all good though because the more you open it, the more likely you are to have the bottom housing crack in places, which could cause some screws to strip out. The battery hasn't really held up as well, but beyond that, still a really good option for a cheaper laptop that still holds up for school related stuff and mac os tinkering.
Imagine - tries to flex the screen and screen breaks: Well then... By the way, i did bend the screen on my old Hp laptop and the screen cracked. That's why i was so uncomfortable to watch him flex it like that...
Hey, I just bought this laptop including the 2 upgrades to use for school as well some light gaming. It’s been several years since I’ve had a laptop or computer that was not Apple (yes I know... *booo*). I’ve got 2 quick questions if anyone could help me; 1: Do i need to install Windows/something that does not already come on the laptop. And 2: I remember using Norton Anti Virus in the past, if I ran that weekly would there be anything else (or a stronger alternative) that I should run to help keep my new laptop in pristine internal condition. Please let me know in detail these two things as I am quite the noob. Thanks! 😬
Andrew J you can swap over the OS to the ssd or just reininstall it via usb and for the antivirus you won't need one on Windows 10 as it has it's own protection just keep it up to date.
suhzuki I’ve been looking up guides to transfer the OS to SSD, but have not found a solid guide. Any advice there? One said to use paragon transfer os (which costs $30), is that necessary?
Andrew J nah don't spend any money on it the best route I've always done is download Windows 10 home onto a usb (off Microsoft's site) and do a fresh install from the usb. Just press whatever key yours is to get into bios on boot and change boot order to usb then save an exit and it will boot into the fresh Windows setup then choose your ssd as OS drive.
I have the version of this laptop with the Geforce 940MX graphics and i5-7200u. It works very well, and the only thing I changed about it was adding in a 1TB 7200RPM hard drive, because the 256gb SSD was just not cutting it for me. It has a good display, nice keyboard, and performs surprisingly well in games and content creation. Fully worth the ~$500 i got it for last fall.

If you aren't willing to spend $440, but you don't care about bulk you can also opt for a refurbished Dell latitude e5420. The Latitude is bulky, but is easily upgradeable. Load from external drive, use macrium reflect or any other disk management software to make an image of disc C, than format disc C and load that image to an ssd. Not hard at all.
You should totally review an Acer Spin 5. It's a pretty solid device with pretty solid specs, and if you're lucky you can get it for about 550 DOllars. Would love if you review it!
ROFLCOPTER Why, those macbooks are just outdated and slow as hell. And you pay serious money for old Junk. Cooling Problems, Throtteling, Slow as fuck. And limited stock Operation system. No thanks. For 350$ you can actually get paptops with an 770m or a gt940mx, who actually are usable for gaming, video editing and work.
@@likeagrape57 I don't game at 1080p- I have partial cataracts so 720p and 1080p are the same to my eyes in detail. I did try it tho- fps dips to low 30s :(
@@likeagrape57 no worries :) I'd say console graphics would be a bit better in terms of textures, but draw distance is much higher on this laptop. Also, MODS! You can't mod a console game (I think)
No, life is pain, its not worth living, you cannot be free because there is always a paywall to go through, disease kill and hurt a lot of person every seconds. You work all day just to have a little penny at the end of the day. The world is collapsing on itself, we are all going to die in a painfull death, nuclear, biological or chemical war is near. The end is near
i actually have this laptop... as a matter of fact, i'm watching this video on that laptop. i got it just because i needed a computer at home and its been a good solid buy... hell, i didn't even know that i could upgrade it! definitely going to try and upgrade it now!
I have a $500 budget right now from birthday money. Should I buy this? Or should I just save for something else? Im not a heavy gamer, so I dont know if I should save up for something better. But the thing is I dont know how to do the upgrades like he did in this video.
i have an e15 with an i7 8550u and an mx130, 8gbs ddr4 2400 ram and a 256gb ssd and a 1366x768 screen. im not fussed about the resolution, because it still looks decent and if it was 1080p my fps in games would be way worse lol
So I own this laptop and it's pretty dope for the price. I can't play space engineers on it but I've jammed out to some older games like kotor 1 and two and also oblivion. Bridge builder runs perfectly on it. I do recommend upgrading with ssd and more ram but besides that it's been pretty good to me. I initially had only intended to use it for school but ended up "gaming" on it during my down time. I honestly wouldn't recommend trying to use it on any game that requires a real time competitive edge though. But as far as a basic "I need this for homework" machine it's perfect.
Austin, I usually am a big fan. But this time I think the review is not quite geniuine. In order for us to understand the performance of this laptop we need to see it run on its original specs. With out any hardware modification.
My gaming laptop runs fortnite at 30 fps without being plugged in but when it is plugged in, it runs at like 120 fps. I've tried to use maximum power and stuff buy none of it is working. Can someone help me
For Intel: Control Panel >> Hardware and Sound >> Power Options >> Edit Plan Settings >> Change Advanced Power Settings >> Intel Graphics Settings >> On Battery >> Maximum Performance For Nvidia: Nvidia Control Panel >> 3D Settings >> Manage 3D Settings >> Global Settings >> Power management mode >> Prefer maximum performance
Amazon sucks because they have "free" shipping or free shipping "eligible" for orders over a certain amount. So you shop for an additional item and go to check out but you don't get the free shipping. You get charged for each item.. They are trying to force you to try the prime for 30 days for free. But they don't understand the concept of free so that's an issue again. Also once you try it for 30 days and never order anything they want to charge you for nothing every 30 days.
As a University student, I like the cheaper model that can support an apple pencil (for note taking). Pro is too expensive for features I don't care about.
It literally doesn't make since to have a 720p screen, they are trash. If you ever want to bump down the resolution to 720 on this laptop you can just if I watching any kind of media, I would like to be able to have a 1080p screen and not be stuck with a crappy 720
Fortnite isn't going to run that well for a long time on it tho, bc I have an i7 Toshiba laptop and I got it a year ago now when I'm trying run fortnite on it it's either complete shit or 20 fps at max. So if you're getting this laptop for fortnite, well, you're only going to have a good experience on it for a bit of time
i like how he says he’s reviewing the laptop but then adds 100 dollars worth of upgrades.

I just got an Amazon ad before this video. Oh God the CIA is spying on me !!!!!!
Oh Really ! Now imagine your CIA agent saying, "Oh shit he knows!"
Arget lol😂
No Google is spying on you😂
Sam Gerers Damn right! And they censor their search results!
It's Google, not the CIA you dumb fucks. I mean it's both. But Google is worse.
Dang I can’t believe that 350 dollar laptop is dat good
Hey VSauce, this is Austin. Is Michael worth it, and why do guys exist in 2098?
Glad you're not choosing the LinusTechTip route and spam your video with ads.
2 years ago I was on a LENOVO IdeaPad 110s vid by Austin that I was getting for Christmas now I’m here 6 months before I get this laptop! :)
Hey guys this is austin.👌👌👍👍

Hey guys Snap Austin has fallen in love with SSD lately
Can you do a tutorial on how to move the Windows Installation to the SSD?
When I upgraded a few of my laptops to ssd I found it easier to backup any important things and just reinstall windows to the ssd
Johns Memes won't you need to buy the Windows key or something?
techtech72 no I was worried about that to so I just looked up windows product key viewer and I wrote that down if the computer did not automatically activate windows
Johns Memes ah. Ok. Thanks. Did u have any guides online that you could link me to? I'm thinking of replacing my optical drive with an SSD
I don't know why but this youtube channel is hard to digest, the way he reviews the stuff :P
I’m looking for a laptop for my parents, and this is great 😂
Hey austin get a 300$ secondhand laptop with a 940mx and compare it to this.
Rehan Khan Or a gtx770 Desktop;)
GamerGuyPVP PVP or a macbook from 2009
GamerGuyPVP PVP lets just stick with a laptop
ROFLCOPTER i doubt we could play a game on that
ROFLCOPTER Why, those macbooks are just outdated and slow as hell. And you pay serious money for old Junk. Cooling Problems, Throtteling, Slow as fuck. And limited stock Operation system. No thanks. For 350$ you can actually get paptops with an 770m or a gt940mx, who actually are usable for gaming, video editing and work.
That laptop is 600 bucks now
No it is $330. The $600 one has a MX150 gpu and a core i5 professor, as well as 8gb of ram instead of 4.
This thing plays skyrim on 720p low settings at 50 fps+. Easily. Minimal heating too. WITHOUT ANY UPGRADES.
No 1080p?
@@likeagrape57 I don't game at 1080p- I have partial cataracts so 720p and 1080p are the same to my eyes in detail. I did try it tho- fps dips to low 30s :(
@@AyBee9725 sorry about the cataracts man. So what does the game look like compared to consoles, do you know?
@@likeagrape57 no worries :) I'd say console graphics would be a bit better in terms of textures, but draw distance is much higher on this laptop. Also, MODS! You can't mod a console game (I think)
@@AyBee9725 cool. I still haven't got a laptop, so I'm considering options.
I got this for Christmas. It ain’t too shabby and I’m enjoying it.
Is this world worth it??
Nope
No my friend
CAPED CRUSADER In 2018,
Oh hell no.
No
That computer is so good, I have 2 gig of ram windows xp

Honestly this is really good for a $350-450 laptop. Back in the day, you were lucky to get a Pentium 4 back in the day, on a 720p panel, for $600
i actually have this laptop... as a matter of fact, i'm watching this video on that laptop. i got it just because i needed a computer at home and its been a good solid buy... hell, i didn't even know that i could upgrade it! definitely going to try and upgrade it now!
I have a $500 budget right now from birthday money. Should I buy this? Or should I just save for something else? Im not a heavy gamer, so I dont know if I should save up for something better. But the thing is I dont know how to do the upgrades like he did in this video.
butch jebbodiah something else I suggest a 200$ labtop for work or games
Johan Olguin k thanks
depend do you focus on gaming or productivity?
BRISTLEBACK more on productivity and some light gaming.
Try ordering parts and make your own
Is Austin Evans worth it
Viewer: Lemme flex my laptop's screen *screen cracks* OH F%€&!
AstralKoda ikr
AstralKoda BECAUSE I CRACKED MY LAPTOP BY BENDING IT?!?!?!?!?
Tomas Gaming thanks, you saved me. I keep doing it randomly, which isn't a good idea when you've spent a 90$ to upgrade to a 4K color accurate panel.
That's no excuse to flood the comment section
Asha Gaming ....Well fuck Life then
I love how he jumps at the start
These days you need a laptop just to exist. So it's nice to know that more and more (not so bad) budget laptops are available.
Can u play all these games without any of the upgrades?
O lol I just ditched this laptop 4 days ago to buy a new PC, but yea I loved it while I had it.
yeriq what pc did you get? I want to get one but it must be small.
Buster Gundo mine is anything but small
can it run games like garrys mod and geometry dash
@@topaz9186 bro my old computer could run geometry dash. It was $180

Homo Ludens definitly
*hey it's VSauce here and we're discussing if Homo Ludens has a life*
Good job Austin now you're seriously making me think about buying this. And to think I was contemplating buying a Macbook Pro...
My sister has this exact laptop which I just upgraded for her, and it makes a world of difference!
Common, it has got more ports than a macbook pro
i have an e15 with an i7 8550u and an mx130, 8gbs ddr4 2400 ram and a 256gb ssd and a 1366x768 screen. im not fussed about the resolution, because it still looks decent and if it was 1080p my fps in games would be way worse lol
Ive watched this video at least 30 times
But why
@@faycalaqariden4898 to know if i i should get it lol
@@kilurz8629 did you?
@@faycalaqariden4898 yes
@@kilurz8629 was gonna get this, then somehow ended up getting an msi gl72m lol
I had that laptop in 2016 i miss it
So I own this laptop and it's pretty dope for the price.
Can someone help me
For Intel: Control Panel >> Hardware and Sound >> Power Options >> Edit Plan Settings >> Change Advanced Power Settings >> Intel Graphics Settings >> On Battery >> Maximum Performance
For Nvidia: Nvidia Control Panel >> 3D Settings >> Manage 3D Settings >> Global Settings >> Power management mode >> Prefer maximum performance
Christopher Coutinho it’s not working, any other ideas
Manufacturers deliberately throttle performance when not plugged in to save battery. Just plug in lol
Go to the GeForce Experience program go to settings then GAMES and change Battery Boost settings.
BATTERY BOOST in GeFroce Experience is default set to on and 30fps. I had this problem also.
Is life worth it?
no life is not (jk)
NerdyGamer why jk
NO
Not worth it
life is just a short trailer after you die the real shit starts
Amazon sucks because they have "free" shipping or free shipping "eligible" for orders over a certain amount. So you shop for an additional item and go to check out but you don't get the free shipping. You get charged for each item.. They are trying to force you to try the prime for 30 days for free. But they don't understand the concept of free so that's an issue again. Also once you try it for 30 days and never order anything they want to charge you for nothing every 30 days.
What up guys it’s ya boy fortnite and today we are going to be playing Austen
Review the one with the mx150
Why doesnt anyone ever review ROBLOX on computers

As a University student, I like the cheaper model that can support an apple pencil (for note taking). Pro is too expensive for features I don't care about.
with specs like that on a laptop, i would prefer a 720p screen over 1080p
It literally doesn't make since to have a 720p screen, they are trash. If you ever want to bump down the resolution to 720 on this laptop you can just if I watching any kind of media, I would like to be able to have a 1080p screen and not be stuck with a crappy 720
Did anyone notice that he’s playing rocket league with no hands on the laptop
Lychee Daichi i saw that
Lychee Daichi it’s a controller

They are my school computers!!!!

Oliver Panizzutti my school got 8 to 16GB of RAM.
Niceu
My school computers have 3.1 GHZ processors, 16 GB Ram, and a 1 terabyte hard drive.
Fortnite isn't going to run that well for a long time on it tho, bc I have an i7 Toshiba laptop and I got it a year ago now when I'm trying run fortnite on it it's either complete shit or 20 fps at max. So if you're getting this laptop for fortnite, well, you're only going to have a good experience on it for a bit of time
Toshiba is trash, and saying it is an i7 doesn't automatically mean it's better at running fortnite
New Model out called Acer Aspire 5
It's crazy that less than a year ago, I got this same laptop for $100 cheaper... Was a way better deal back then.
