    This sim is spot on . I have shot slides at this locale since 1982 and you have captured it very well. Never saw F units on the Tracy City branch tho'. , just dirty GP's . Man, I miss the old L&N !

    I had grandparents and great grandparents who lived on the mountain near Sewanee. I remember as a child the Tracy City Branch because the branch ran over the interstate, the bridge running next to the highway there.

    Nose mounted mars lights anyone?
    These are what made L&N locos awesome.
    I sure miss those days.
    The last L&N U30C I remember seeing was pounding the diamonds at Marion , OHIO about 1990 on the C&O. Still in grey!

      I couldn't agree more. The modeler who repainted this unit did not chose one with the Pyle Gyralight unfortunately. There are limitations on what I can do in the simulator based on my current skill levels at modifying and repainting. So I have to run what is available out there.

    (from one Boomer to another) :) I think what you and many others are doing is the future of TS classic. I too have been dabbling, shall we say, for over 4 years with my rewriting of the old B&LE release from DTG back in the in the day and then discontinued due to copywrite BS. I understand it's been rereleased under a new name without the branding or some other silliness. (I thought it was free advertising but what do I know). I choose to fix and update this route to the 1950's simply because it is the track plan that I found most interesting. Burned up my first PC attempting what I imagined. I'll never be able to publish my route for others because I do not own the route. But I hate laying track....lol and the B&LE had what I was generally looking for. (I will eventually post videos of what I'm doing one day soon) To those of you with the wherewithall to start from scratch, god bless ya. But back to the main point, this route and routes like Minerman's Bergan Line is the future of this platform. DTG always catered to those with low end specs and you can't blame them for that, but for the rest of us...this is certainly one of the best train sim platform to create works of art. And you have certainly proved that point. Outstanding scenery. Great editing.
    Well done. Meaty sound mod BTW. Made my table vibrate!! Thanks for sharing your hard work. (The narrow rock cuts and tunnel are not easy to do in World Editor) Wow! You have given me inspiration to try something like that myself. Making TS classic go above and beyond. It is the future. Keep going my friend.

      Thank you. If there is one good thing to come out of the recent pandemic, it was that I had time on my hands to learn to use the Route Editor in TS2020. The first time I looked at the editor back in 2015, I was totally confused and closed it right away. I decided to try again and slowly learned it by watching you tube tutorials.
      I agree that it is a great platform to create in and I tell others it is the only artistic thing I've ever done. I really enjoy the scenery creation and wanted a route I was familiar with so I started with the Cowan area because it is unique with the pusher district. Learning and creating has also inspired me to try and help others with my tutorial videos.
      I understand why DTG keeps it low end to market to folks with average computers and other platforms like Xbox. I'm thankful they continue to support the program and bring out new content. I hope they do for a long time. Thanks again for your kind comments and I look forward to seeing your route in the future.

      Very cool. Say hi to Tom Knowles for me. Someday, I will publish it on one of the share sights like RailWorks America. I have a lot to finish before its published. Maybe you guys can run the video in the depot for folks. Its not monetized so I won't make a profit....

    • @agwsdad
      @agwsdad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Me 😁
      But in someone else's program, of course. Dovetail Games Train Simulator 20XX.
      I had to use assets that are available in the game. I haven't learned how to create the 3D buildings or assets that would be exact. That is a big learning curve. I'm trying to get some folks to help me create the correct depots and structures for the town... I used what is currently available.

      @@agwsdad I live in cowan and I'm a volunteer at the railroad museum and a board member. I can help out with that.

    • @agwsdad
      @agwsdad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Bobby, I have a friend who is promising to work on some of the buildings for me. Do you know how to create assets using a 3D drawing program like "Blender"? I have not taken the time to learn that process yet. I enjoy the creation of the route and adding the scenery. That's complicated enough to me. It is the main reason I have been trying to create some tutorials for folks to learn how to do that. You can see those on my TH-cam channel.
      In the hobby, we are blessed with lots of folks who create new content for the simulator. Some do route creation or scenery or reskin paint jobs for the various locomotives and cars (why I have those nice L&N U30C's) and some create new versions of cars or locomotives. People share their work on sites, like Railworks America and others, for people to use in their own routes. There are also several Payware folks creating content. I try and support their efforts as well as the game's creator Dovetail. We need them to continue to support the game with new content, which have been for over 12 years after it was first released.
      I welcome any effort you might attempt in the asset creation. There are lots of tutorial videos out there on doing it. The good thing is you are at the primary building that is needed in the route, so you have access to the dimensions and info on the depot to create an accurate representation. I used a stock depot from the Clinchfield Route to temporarily represent the Cowan freight depot until my friend can create one. I have not found dimensional drawings for the N&C depots yet. Only representative elevations. I have photos of the Cowan, Sewanee, Monteagle, Tracy, Coalmont, and Palmer depots.
      For my own use, I run the railroad as L&N and CSX eras. Since the TCB was abandoned at the start of total CSX control, I realize it didn't exist when the modern locomotives began to rule. To my knowledge there are no NC&StL assets that have been created for TS2021. At some point in the future, it would be easy to abandon the branch and yard to make it current and release it as more accurate modern day. I prefer to use my imagination and consider that the branch, yard, and cement plant still exist into the CSX era. I have created the branch all the way to Palmer, which of course was taken out in 1973. I have a ton of scenery to add to the route and have to lay track from Tracy City to Sewanee. I have completed the main track of the branch from Palmer to Tracy City.
      This is a form of model railroading that allows me to build it as big as I want to invest the time in completing. At some point I will complete it to Chattanooga and maybe the Sequatchie Valley Branch too.

    • @agwsdad
      @agwsdad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is Dovetail Games Train Simulator 2021. The route is my creation using the route editor inside the game. What you see I started in January 2020. See my route creation tutorial #1 on my channel.
      The closest route in the south that is a packaged download for the game is the Clinchfield.
