    Welcome to Jeremy's IT lab. Jeremy hopes that you will stick around till the end of the quiz so he can show you an Ex-Sim Max bonus question. Jeremy used Ex-Sim Max to pass his CCNA on the first try. The picture on the upper right is Jeremy leaving the exam building.

    I choose this video to comment because this is where I wanted to give up. But it got easy once I pushed through.
    I got my CCNA today, and all thanks to you jeremy.
    Every time I opened a new video I spent few minutes reading comments of people thanking you for helping them pass their CCNA, I knew I would write my own comment soon and here it is.
    My study for CCNA was 6 weeks and I only used your videos. I did not use any other study materials, It was just your videos day 1 to day 63 + Boson.
    I barely finished all your labs (maybe 25% labs) and did few flashcards (only hard topics). I would suggest anyone that is preparing, that you always recap what you study, in portions. That is what helped me retain all of this in short time.
    I used Boson to make sure I filled my knowledge gaps.
    I would 10/10 recommend Boson, without it I would not be able to fill my knowledge gaps.
    Thank you Jeremy!

      @@JeremysITLab yes, it was faced paced. But i knew i got do it because of how easy your explanation was to understand.
      For me it was two videos a day on weekdays and 3 videos every sat and sun( day 1&2 3&4 5&6 etc)
      So that was 16 videos a week. Doing this I finished the playlist in 4 weeks. Last 2 weeks was my prep. Used boson only the last week of prep.
      I could do this only because of the hardwork you put into your videos.

    Thank you for the great lesson! 23:12 additionally point to multipoint ospf network type also uses hello 30s dead 120s, that used to be "gotcha" thing ccie proctors would try when inserting faults into your network or being asked to make timers be certain values without using the "ip ospf network" command. 31:52 changing the network type changed the default hello/dead timers, these can be changed back to match to make it kind of work despite having a different network type configured.

    Just FYI to those prepping for the exam, I saw a lot of questions regarding non-braodcast and other OSPF types. Non-broadcast and point-to-multipoint Non-Broadcast networks do not allow multicast packets. To configure OSPF to send unicast updates, you must configure neighbor routers with the neighbor command (like jeremy says in the videos). Broadcast & P2P allow multicast packets so manual configuration of neighbor routers with the neighbor command is not needed.

    Hi Jeremy, question about Quiz 2, in the lecture you stated that in the broadcast network type routers only form full adjacencies with the BDR and DR and so being that R1 is a DR is that the reason why R1 has 4 adjacent neighbors? If R1 was a DRother that is when it would only have 2 full adjacencies and 3 regular neighbors correct?

    • @aloshim
      @aloshim ปีที่แล้ว +3

      DRother interfaces only will form a full adjacencies with DR and BDR. The Result is going = Full State.
      DRother interfaces will not perfrom full adjacencies with another interfaces which is DRother. They both stuck at 2-way state with each other they never reach the full state.
      So in the quiz is saying that DR is activated on the Interface and we have 5 Routers included our Router. So we have our Router with DR and there are 4 Routers.
      - one should be BDR 1x
      - and the rest DRother. 3x
      Total = 4x
      So since DR or BDR perfrom adjcacencies with everyone so we have the Total of Routers = 4 Routers are going to be fully adjacent with our Router.
      at minute 12:20 above he said:
      'in the broadcast network type, routers will only form a full OSPF adjacency with the DR and BDR of the segment. '
      He meant either possibility 1:
      BDR and DRother are able to form adjacency with DR.
      OR
      DR and DRother are able to for adjacency with the BDR.
      _____________________________
      I tought at first time as well that DR is going to only perform with BDR.
      I hope this could help because i misunderstood what he said as well.

    • @eng_muud
      @eng_muud 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      since R1'G0/0 is DR it will make full adjacencies to its all neighbors (BDR and DRotherS )

    Hi Jeremy, just a quick confirmation. All OSPF adjacent routers are OSPF neighbors but all OSPF neighbors are not adjacent right. I mean, in the 192.168.2.0/29 subnet used in the video, the DR and BDR are OSPF neighbors and adjacent but the DROther routers are neighbors but not adjacent. Right?
    Edit: Got this cleared from the explanation at the end. Precise and clear as always, Jeremy. Kudos 🙂

    When you use the 'Default information originate' command on R4, will that automagically make that router the ASBR (if there is a default route to an external network)? Thanks for the series, it's awesome

    • @JeremysITLab

      Yep, because it's advertising destinations from outside of the OSPF network into it.

    Hello Jeremy , as you lectured us many videos ago, the minimum size of an IP packet is 46 bytes. When you entered the IP mtu command , the range is from 68 to 1500. That means that the lowest value of the maximum transmission unit can be 68,69,70....... Up to 1500. Is that right?

    42:52 if you attempt to change the priority on one of the routers interfaces, doesn't it loose its adjacency and all routers go down? was sure you showed that earlier in the video

    Hello Jeremey, I have a question please it is not related directly to the CCNA but do you maybe know why at schools the teachers make the IT subjects complicated? I hope I can get an answer from a teacher himself. Thanks in forwarding for answering. AND 100000000000000000 thanks for the free series of CCNA.

    Hi Jeremy,
    Do I need to enter some kind of promo code for the two Boson software, or is it included already if I get both?
    Thanks!

    • @JeremysITLab
      @JeremysITLab  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't need to enter a code, if you buy the kit that includes both it's cheaper than buying both separately.

    HI Jeremy. While using the cisco packet tracer labs router ISR4331, every time i add additional ports NIM-ES2-4, I am unable to configure ip addresses to those extra ports. The system says error when I input ip address (ip) (mask). What could be issue ?

    Hi!
    I have a question. If R4 has packet for R1’s G1/0 int if this interface is down for some reason then R4 will not sent any packet to R1.
    Then if R4 has packet for R1 via it’s loopback interface for G1/0 interface, but R1’s G1/0 interface is down already then what is the need to sent this packet if the destination interface is not UP?

    Hi Jeremy:
    @ 9:43 : if OSPF interface priority = 0, can we say router will not participate in DR/BDR election only on that interface /subnet or it will have global effect ?

    • @JeremysITLab
      @JeremysITLab  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just that interface, the OSPF priority setting is local to the interface you configure it on.

    So how can we make R2 become the DR after changing its ospf priority withlout clearing the ospf process on a live network?

    Thank you so much, Jeremy. I have one question, on the requirement to be neighbors it is stated that the interfaces should be in the same subnet but the routers in the diagram like R1 and R4 or R5 are not in the same subnet but share the same LSDB. Can you explain this? Thank you again for your kindness.

    • @JeremysITLab
      @JeremysITLab  ปีที่แล้ว

      R1 and R4/R5 aren't OSPF neighbors, so no need to be in the same subnet. R1's only OSPF neighbor is R2.

    Nice video..
    i'm new on networking, i'm planning to add a new cisco 2960x on existing stacks. The switch i will add is not new. Do i need to reset it to factory default before i add to the stack?i know this is out of the topic.i appreciate your help.thanks..

      I'm not sure if it's needed, but I'd factory reset it first to be safe. Better to search through Cisco documentation for a proper answer.
