    Once done you can also glue the items, which makes it like it was a stereo track to begin with

    Don't know if anyone mentioned it but for me it's faster to pan both mono's left and right and then throw them in a folder. Select folder track and run action: Render Selected Area Of Tracks to Multichannel post-fader stem tracks. Delete the original. Done.

  • @JonasSharpe
    @JonasSharpe 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I find it easier to create a new track and put the two seperate mono tracks that you want to be a single stereo track in a track folder and then right click on the track folder choose "freeze/render to stems" something and then create a stereo stem out of that folder. There should immediatly appear a new track with the same "track name + stem". Delete the orignals that Reaper automatically mutes and you have your stereo track. Go to the panning knob and right click on it and choose "dual panning" option. Now you have a visually easy way to look on the panning of your new stereo track.
    I hope this makes sense since it's harder to explain than doing it IRL...

      Fiore Deste, create a new track put it above another track and click its folder button on the lower right hand side, then click the folder button of the next track if you want to make it the last one in the folder
      but of course all this can be automated with a custom action

    This tutorial is really good as always, but the problem I have is another one.
    I have a Line 6 UX2 sound card. Basically what happens to me is that when I want to listen to whatever I have in Reaper through headphones (wired to the Line 6) you hear both left and right. Then, if I want to listen through the speakers, it only plays left side.
    I don't know why it happens, but it does. I just want Reaper to let me hear from both speakers and I can't find how :(

    No, that's not completely it.... it seems as though this frees up a fader on your control surface, so that's a plus. However, I'm curious as to the PAN control left on track 1 in the track control panel... does it have any affect? Is it only for track 1 or will it move both as a stereo pair? Do we still need to click on each one and hit F2 Item properties to change where they're panned?

    I record one dirty and one clean guitar signal through AXE-FX
    I had an Idea to record these two signals as a stereo track
    and hear only the dirty one while clean is there if I need it and they edit together
    Only problem is how do I hear only the dirty one without it being on one side only (Left)?
    Is there such an option as "Hear only left side of stereo"?

    • @marijandesin8226
      @marijandesin8226 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I found an option in "Item Properties"
      "Channel Mode" If I just set "Mono Left"
      That works but it's not convenient to do every time

    • @marijandesin8226
      @marijandesin8226 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The "Dual Pan" (You show in your other video)

      but unfortunately it does not allow to mute the right channel

    Hey, what does this achieve overall? a bigger sounding mix?

    • @dzamija922
      @dzamija922 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Basically it makes things easier by not having to have as many tracks. Before this trick I used to treat overheads by sending them to a stereo track and panning them left and right. So I had two muted tracks and one that I was sending them to at a pre-fader level, so I had three tracks instead of one.
      Now I can just put the source material on one track and I have two tracks less than I usually would. Clears up a lot of confusion.
