Technically, he did "point" the gun at the officer.... but he didn't point it at the officer in the traditional sense. I slowed it down and he was holding it by the slide with the grip pointed away from him. The muzzle did point in the vicinity of the officer, but the guy didn't have the gun in a firing grip. He had it in a "here I want to hand this to you" grip. Only problem was it was muzzle first instead of grip first. Still totally stupid and could have gotten him shot, but "he pointed the gun at the officer" is kind of misleading.

As a long time CCW holder I have been stopped by police, and had other interactions with them more than once. The proper procedure in a traffic stop is to keep both hands on the wheel. Inform the officer that I have a permit, and am carrying a firearm with me. he will usually ask where it is. I tell them and either they get it or ask me to produce it. Either way, it is a totally amicable thing.
There is a Black dude that teaches proper handling and how to correctly carry and identify to PD that he is armed. He has his ID, Lic., Ownership, etc., on a chain around his neck allowing him to pull his ID without his hands disappearing. Hands on the wheel. The PD pulled him over recently as he was on his way to shoot a video, and the Officers recognized him and the stop was both friendly and funny. Hands on the wheel at all times is a good thing.

What you do is hold still, inform the officer that you're legally armed, don't move, ask for instructions. Me, I'd leave it wherever until the situation is secured.
A buddy of mine did the same thing with a gun. We got stopped buy local police. Traffic stop, and we had a fire arm in the car. My friend grabbed the gun to give it to the cop. I screamed at my friend dont touch it. The cop pulled his weapon and pointed at my friend. That was very scary. Nothing happened. You never touch your weapon at a traffic stop.

The reason why he tried to hand the cop the gun is because he was trying to get out of a charge, in FL you can own a gun without having a carry permit but you must have it in your glove box locked its called the 3 point move to get your gun ,1 to reach the glove box 2 to unlock it and 3 to grab the gun. If I'm not mistaken he said he did not have a permit, so even possessing the gun, within the vehicle and having it readily accesible, is a crime. So this isn't just an really stupid accident, this guy was fucked up from the beginning. And now he won't be able to own any gun whatsoever! Thank God for that.
