Their versatility is what made it so easy for Minnesota to mask KAT’s weaknesses, just so many different things you can do schematically when you have those flexible wings.
As a Lakers fan, I was so happy to get rid of Westbrick and receive Vando with a dirt cheap price.
Which is why KAT didn't look lost out there. Pat Bev, Ant, JMac, Vando all around him to cover defensively. It was nearly perfect
last year Wolves when Ant, Jaden and Vando play together, it gave me a bit vibes of watching MJ, Pippen and Rodman back in Bulls.
And I hate that for us TWolves fans and don't forget to add we drafted Kessler Walker adding him would've been a huge bonus

Crazy to think the Wolves had JMD & Vanderbilt, and drafted Walker Kessler but traded him (sorry Wolves fans) to Utah. MIN could've had a 2004 Pistons level defense if not for that trade.
And the gave Vanderbilt to the Lakers for free. Helped them a lot.
Yeah true dat they did make one of the worst trades in NBA history 😂 and they will loose Jaden this season as well and probably KAT too😅

As a timberwolves fan who is well versed with both. McDaniels. The thing that makes Vanderbilt special is his hustle. He truly wants it. He gets rebounds and blocks and he trains hard. The reason McDaniels is better though is his versatility. He guards the 1-5 and he switches so easily. He also takes the other teams best player routinely out of the game. Against the knicks, Julius randle had his best career game and was on fire. Non coincidentally McDaniels was on the bench and in foul trouble. He came back into the game and in the final 3 minutes of the game completely shut down randle. He had a steal, a block, and denied him the inbounds pass not once but twice that led to a turnover. And the steal was a one on one with randle trying to dribble past him. He does this routinely btw. Lebrons, Lukas, and durants worse games this year we’re when they went up against McDaniels. (I’m pretty sure, don’t quote me on that) I really do like vando though, but it’s an argument of god given talent vs hustle.
Mcdaniels blows vando out the water offensively and is definitely better defensively only thing vando has on mcdaniels is rebounding
@@noyou113 Im a suns fan who was obviously very excited for durants return against the TWolves about a month ago, so you know i was watching the game. Unfortunately for KD, his first game back in 3 weeks was against one of if not the best perimeter defender in the league. McDaniels played extraordinary defense on KD. I mean, whens the last time hes gone 1-8 in a half? finished the game shooting 5-18, just spectacular defense from McDaniels. Hes been one of my favorite players all season, but seeing him play that well against a player who i believe to be the most gifted scorer in the history of the game absolutely did it for me. I also recall him shutting down Luka Doncic and Lebron James, two other extremely gifted offensive players. Yall got yall a good one over there in minnesota

Most versatile? Maybe you've never heard of OG Anunoby. He's the best isolation defender in the game... and unlike McDaniels, has the strength and mass to guard bigs inside.
