    Brilliant idea, using the bits of paper to demonstrate. I really appreciate how you take the time & effort to make everything crystal clear in your tutorials. And of course, the Feline Overlord content was a bonus!

    Thank you, the paper was a clever concise way of showing what to do. Enjoy your holiday! Missing the Waffles, but a lady deserves a rest. :D

    I have done this with a quilting cotton and I find it can work better to overlock the edges rather than French seam them

    💚🖤 I love a tiered skirt and you are the first to say just use the width of the fabric which makes so much more sense than measuring. TY

    Love the way your dress turned out and the method of construction. The Chi content was also very cute! 🎠

    Looking forward to this. I do my floofy petticoats as either 1/2/6 or 1/3/9 panels :) (the 1:3 ratio means you can just pleat 1" all round as you go without too much drastic measuring). Also do lapped seams on the selvedges! (But it's a petticoat...). I use the nice quality cotton from Dalston Mills.

    Thank you for yet another great tutorial! I already know a project for which I’ll come back to this - hopefully soon. ❤️

    Very clear as always. I learned to, as you called it, break up the gathering stitching in even smaller portions. It makes it easier to distribute the gathers evenly. Have not done any gathering since my return to sewing. But this dress … that skirt … it’s can’t be long any more 😉 Need to order some fabric … indeed #sianmademedoit 😉😽💕

    You referred to the width of your fabric. Does it not matter how wide your fabric is? I m presuming the wider the fabric the fuller the skirt? How wide is the fabric you used? Lovely dress.

    • @KittenishBehaviourSian
      @KittenishBehaviourSian  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Indeed! The wider the fabric the fuller the skirt. I like a very full skirt (As you can see 🤣) it's why I mentioned that some people like to do double their waist measurement and then double that for the next tier. It really depends on your preference, for me there was less measuring and more floof with this method 😊. I've used quilting cotton so 45" wide, cotton lawn 50" wide and viscose 60" wide.

    I really needed to see attaching the gathered skirt to the bodice...rather than just verbal...could you do that for me? Ty...btw I love your tiered skirt
    Method.

    A really helpful and informative video. Thank you. Rather than attaching this skirt to a bodice, I want to leave it as a skirt and attach it to an elasticated waist band. What depth would you recommend for the waistband?

  • @marybaker5837
    @marybaker5837 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What type of rayon/ viscose can you hand rip? Challis ? Twill? Etc. we have so many types and some have lycra in it.

    • @KittenishBehaviourSian
      @KittenishBehaviourSian  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is a challis, I'd say experiment (carefully 😉) with an edge and see what works 😊

    Lol I love the hashtag 😂 it’s true, just ordered shelving with cubby holes so I can see and touch my stash 😎 totally holding you responsible. sorry , not sorry 😆 What a great explanation for making a tiered skirt. I saw you enjoyed Bianca’s year’s makes video too. Are you ever tempted to make a historical costume? I’ve been watching the Cook of Castamar and am sorely tempted.

    When you say the width is length of fabric - what is the length of fabric you are using ? ??
