Highlights vs. Minnesota Twins (7.14.22)

- The Chicago White Sox posted a dominating win over the Minnesota Twins in a final score of 12-2 in the series opener at Target Park on July 14, 2022.
Starting pitcher Johnny Cueto threw 5 strikeouts over 6.0 innings pitched, only giving up one run to the A.L. Central leading Twins.
José Abreu hit a RBI single to score Tim Anderson and get the Sox on the board. Andrew Vaughn hit an RBI single of his own, giving the White Sox a 2-run lead heading out of the first inning.
The Twins scored their first of two runs in the 2nd inning, but the Sox were able to hold a one-run lead heading into the 4th inning. Twins pitcher Sonny Gray loaded the bases in the top of the 4th inning just in time for Luis Robert to come to the plate. Luis Robert knocked a ball into left field for his first career grand slam, adding a few insurance runs to the score.
The White Sox offense struck again in the 6th inning, on another hit by Luis Robert which scored Tim Anderson. José Abreu hit a sacrifice fly ball, where Yoán Moncada tagged up to score another run for the White Sox, giving them a 7-1 lead.
Andrew Vaughn crushed a solo home run to lead off the 7th inning, and Seby Zavala joined the home run party in the 9th inning to seal the deal against the Twins.
Relief pitchers Jimmy Lambert and Tanner Banks each contributed a scoreless inning against the Twins lineup. Closing pitcher José Ruiz was able to get the final out, locking in the victory.

This is a type of game that could spark something in the clubhouse! A big offensive win against the division leader. Abreu and Moncada jumping around in the dugout with the guys. A little bench clearing never hurts! Right before the All Star break is a great time for all of this to wake up the boys! It’s been tough but this season is not lost! We can make a run in the second half! Let’s do this! Don’t stop now boys!!!

Yeah he's the best White Sox hitter shouldn't doing that. A worst-case was a Chicago Bears player decided to get excited over a tackle over a Patriots player (who were up by 3 touchdowns) so decides to do a backflip but comes awkwardly tearing his ACL. BOOM out season and everybody was call Stupid.

One of the best outings I have seen against the Twinkies. Johnny Cueto is absolutely filthy and a fantastic addition to this team.
Offense was just spectacular and gained momentum thanks to Robert's salami!
Certainly hoping this is the push our boys need for the next 3 before the break.
A sweep is quite a rare feat but I would like to try and take the series if we can.

Yeah Sox haven’t had many of those smashing against the Twins this year. 5-2 against the Sox this year and still in first. Twins seem to usually respond after these games.

Ole Johnny has pitched really good for the white Sox. When they signed him. I was like eh 😕 really. Now I'm like 👍 😊. Also can we just enjoy luis Roberts getting better. Future MVP

Eloy is only talented as a hitter. He’s not athletic at all, and that’s why he keeps getting hurt all the time. I do like his enthusiasm though.

Everything went south after the Twins didn’t challenge. As a Twins fan. Not worried. Twins have these types of games once every three weeks. As for the White Sox. They are hoping they saved enough runs for the rest of the series. Sox are either on fire or an absolute dud

Problaby because they've just realized how over their heads they've been so far this season , and that smack in the face they got tonight woke them up and how bad they really suck !! He won’t pitch til after the allstar break he’ll have enough time to rest, I’m sure TLR asked Cueto how he was doing/feeling.
