Have you used a powder foundation before? What was your experience, and which powder foundation did you try? Thank you for spending your time with me today, and if you enjoyed my video, I would love to have you back, so make sure you click the subscribe button! Warm Wishes, Zack
@glambydeeep Hopefully, you will find these tips helpful if you decided to give powders a try again! I do love a good cream or liquid foundation, and I am working on a video sharing a similar set of tips and tricks for helping liquids and creams work for all skin types too! I had a handful of more oily clients, and they were so against cream foundations until I showed them how to make cream foundations work for their skin type.
I tried the Benefit Happy (?) But, I didn't like it. I thought it settled into pores, made my under eyes look cakey, etc...I realize I was applying powder wrong and you helped explain why. I'm looking forward to buying Mac Studio Fix Powder during a sale this month. However, if you have tips for oily/combo skin wanting a liquid foundation?
Hi Hannah! I love products from all price ranges! Over the past year of having my channel, I've got to play with more drugstore makeup, and there are so many wonderful products! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my video and comment! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
I Love Your Breakdown!!! The Easiest Powder Foundation I've Used Is The Laura Geller Baked & Brighten...Yassssss!!! I'm Going To Pick My MAC & Cover FX Back Up And Use Your Tips. I Never Considered That Powder Foundation Needs To Be A Shade Lighter...Definitely Going To Get It After I Master Practicing With The Others. Thanks A Bunch!!!!
Hi Kandii!!!! Thank you for such a lovely comment, and I am thrilled you loved this breakdown! The Laura Gellar Baked and Brighten has been one of the top finds of the last little while because it's just so easy to apply and wear! MAC's Studio Fix Powder was a long-time favourite of mine, and it's still something I reach for when I want coverage quickly that doesn't look heavy. I tried the Cover FX several years ago and cannot remember my feelings. Some powder foundations (MAC Studio Fix) will oxidize quite a bit, so getting a shade that looks lighter at first will deepen to the right shade once it mixes with your skin's natural oils. Thank you for such an excellent comment, and I hope you have success with these tips! I hope you have a fantastic rest of the week!
Hello! I am so happy that you found this video to be helpful! Finding the perfect shade of Studio Fix Powder can be tricky; I recommend getting matched at a MAC counter/store and walking around for 10-15 minutes to check for oxidation. This foundation is prone to getting dark as it mixes with the natural oils of our skin. If you have any other questions feel free to let me know, and I will do my best to help you! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment!
Your so soothing Zack! And calm. I’m all over the place. Not a powder person myself; however this is amazing tips for those that want to use one. You did such a good job and explaining. Your like the Powder Whisperer😂
OMG, the Powder Whisperer! 😂 Thank you so much for the sweet compliment, Gabe! I love the energy in your videos! You have so much fun, and your energy is beyond infectious!
Thanks for great video, I really want to try powder foundations back in the days I was bareminerals girl. Now I'm 54 and I'm minimalist type. But really want to use powder foundation . Can you recommend which one as I have mature dry skin.🙏🤗
Hello Mini! I am thrilled you enjoyed this video! My favourite powder foundation for dry skin is a tie between the bareMinerals Original Mineral Powder Foundation and the Laura Gellar Baked Balance-N-Bright Baked Mineral Powder Foundation, as they both take on an almost creamy finish when they are buffed into the skin in whisper-thin layers. I also find using a large fluffy blush like the MAC 150S, BK Beauty 105, or the Real Techniques 201 Ultra Plus Powder Brush are all examples of my favourite shape and size of brush for the most natural-looking powder foundation as their fluffy size applies less coverage up front and almost allows your to create an almost watercolour effect with a powder foundation that looks practically invisible to the eye! Another tip for powder foundation applications for dry skin is to look for a primer, moisturizer, or sunscreen that is slightly more emollient than you would typically reach for, as they can help melt the powder into the skin, creating a lovely healthy glow to the skin! I hope these recommendations and tips are helpful; cheers to a wonderful week!
I am so happy to see you again! Sometimes, something similar will happen to me, and I will think, I haven't seen someone's video on my feed in a while, and I must go searching! 😂🙃 Are you comparing MAC MSF or Laura Geller BBB? If so, I feel there are similarities; however, I prefer BBB more as I can get a better colour match, I can vary my coverage from sheer to medium-full, and the finish is very adaptable. I used MAC MSF for years when I worked for the brand, and I loved on clients who had slightly dry to slightly oily skin, but sometimes I felt like the shade range pulled somewhat too warm/yellow, so I would mix them with a tiny bit of one of Mineralized Blushers to get the right colour. I hope this was helpful, and it is so lovely to see you again! I hope you have a wonderful week!
Hi Farah! I am so happy that you found this video helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Hi love the video & the tips were so helpful. Am curious, do I still need like a loose/setting powder after the powder foundation to set everything before the Pixi setting spray? TQ :D
Hi Navita! I am so happy that you found this video enjoyable and helpful! After applying a powder foundation, using a setting powder is an optional step that I often skip on myself and my clients. However, using a setting powder after a powder foundation can be helpful if someone with very oily skin finds their powder foundation isn't keeping their skin matte enough for their personal preference. I hope this was helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment; I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week!
Hello Br! NC20 could work for you in MAC Studio Fix Powder, but if you find your skin gets oily, then you might want to try shade C4, which is a fraction lighten than NC20. Studio Fix Powder can oxidize as it mixes with your skin's natural oils, so sometimes you have to go a half to a full shade lighter than your Studio Fix Fluid shade. I hope this was helpful, and best of luck!
I just realised I was using the wrong sort of brush. I used a RT powder brush and it worked a treat. Before I was using a generic mineral brush that was making a muddy mess.
Thank you for sharing your experience! I adore the RT Powder Brush, haha; currently, it is giving my go-to MAC 150S a run for its money! 😂 I am thrilled you are having a better time with a new brush; is there a particular powder foundation you favour? Cheers to a lovely weekend! 💖
@@ZeeDooley I’m still testing out, Mac Studio Fix has been working so well with the RT brush. I’m not joking when I say I was about the throw the compact out the window because of how bad it was showing on my skin using the mineral brush. I’ve used BareMinerals, but it made my face itchy. I had the same issue with Nude by Nature. I’ve ordered the Tarte loose powder foundation and I will test it out. The Clinique Beyond Perfecting foundation was beautiful, but doesn’t have a great colour match for me. I hit pan on it by using it with a tinted moisturiser. Honestly I’m happy with my Mac one.
Thank you for sharing! When I worked at Sephora in the mid-2010s, several customers said they experienced an itchy feeling from the bareMineral loose mineral formula, which was interesting as the ingredient were relatively simple compared to others on the market, but it goes to show that makeup truly is not a one size fits all product. I have seen Nude by Nature in the shops but have not tried it. I have tried the previous formula of the Tarte Amazonian Clay Loose Powder Foundation, and it was excellent! Since I haven't tried the current formula, I cannot speak to how they compare, but I will note I experienced a learning curve as it had much more pigment than I was expecting, and a small amount of product spread a long way, so I would love to know your experience! The Clinique shade range has remained the same since I was in high school, and I wish they would change something because they have some gorgeous formulas! I have swatched the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Powder Foundation, and it seemed heavenly, but the colours were just so off for my skin tone as well. Thank you again for sharing, and I hope you have had a wonderful weekend; cheers to a lovely week!
Hello Gety! I tried The Ordinary’s High-Adherence and High-Spreadability several years ago, and they were not my favourite primers. However, I love to use The Ordinary’s Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA moisturizer under mineral powder foundations for creating a fresh and dewy finish. Thank You so much for taking the time to watch and comment!
@@ZeeDooley Thank you for replying, i have a tube of moisturizing factors and also the Mac powder foundation, i’ll give it a try. Also, a video suggestion : a video about how to apply the Mac Studio Fix Fluid so that you get light-medium coverage, but it still doesn’t cover all the face natural contours and skin still looks like skin without being cakey. It would be much appreciated and helpful. Also how to cover problem acne skin with lots of redness and blemishes.
Hi Gety! It's been a few years since I last tried MAC's Studio Fix Fluid, but I will add it to my list of foundations to pick up, and I will add the video covering acne and redness to my content calendar! Thank you so much for the wonderful suggestions!

I'm into wet dry powder foundation since I live in a humid country, MAC studio fix is good but breaks me out 😓

What an incredible amount of education in such a short amount of time!!! 👍🏽
Thank you so much, Mathias! It genuinely means a lot! 😊
This is a great idea. I might do this so I can filter out the palettes I don't care for.
I would like to see the Aurora Struck palette as a video. I love the shades in that palette.
Hi Susi! The Aurora Struck palette is gorgeous. It is one of those palettes that lives on the wish list that I have yet to purchase!
AMAZING video!! Beautiful, thorough information. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. ❤🎉
