    Doctrinal note: Re: "I repented of my sin and won the victory" - I understand repentance, in context of the song, to be a result of salvation, resulting in a change of mind/behavior. The entire context of the chorus is "in Jesus" - recognizing that victory (i.e. living a victorious Christian life) is only possible through being saved. "I repented of my sin" is still subjected to salvation through Christ, and its not the act of repentance that saves, its the finished work of Christ which is evidenced by repentance. This sums it up: "To repent, in relation to salvation, is to change your mind regarding sin and Jesus Christ. In Peter’s sermon on the day of Pentecost (Acts chapter 2), he concludes with a call for the people to repent (Acts 2:38). Repent from what? Peter is calling the people who rejected Jesus (Acts 2:36) to change their minds about that sin and to change their minds about Christ Himself, recognizing that He is indeed “Lord and Christ” (Acts 2:36). Peter is calling the people to change their minds, to abhor their past rejection of Christ, and to embrace faith in Him as both Messiah and Savior.
    Repentance involves recognizing that you have thought wrongly in the past and determining to think aright in the future. The repentant person has “second thoughts” about the mindset he formally embraced. There is a change of disposition and a new way of thinking about God, about sin, about holiness, and about doing God’s will. True repentance is prompted by “godly sorrow,” and it “leads to salvation” (2 Corinthians 7:10).
    Repentance and faith can be understood as two sides of the same coin. It is impossible to place your faith in Jesus Christ as the Savior without first changing your mind about your sin and about who Jesus is and what He has done. Whether it is repentance from willful rejection or repentance from ignorance or disinterest, it is a change of mind. Biblical repentance, in relation to salvation, is changing your mind from rejection of Christ to faith in Christ.
    Repentance is not a work we do to earn salvation. No one can repent and come to God unless God pulls that person to Himself (John 6:44). Repentance is something God gives-it is only possible because of His grace (Acts 5:31; 11:18). No one can repent unless God grants repentance. All of salvation, including repentance and faith, is a result of God drawing us, opening our eyes, and changing our hearts. God’s longsuffering leads us to repentance (2 Peter 3:9), as does His kindness (Romans 2:4).
    While repentance is not a work that earns salvation, repentance unto salvation does result in works. It is impossible to truly change your mind without that causing a change in action. In the Bible, repentance results in a change in behavior. That is why John the Baptist called people to “produce fruit in keeping with repentance” (Matthew 3:8). A person who has truly repented of his sin and exercised faith in Christ will give evidence of a changed life (2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 5:19-23; James 2:14-26)." (www.gotquestio...)

    Your songs are beautiful. I have downloaded all of them and we play them on a CD player before church starts for a good 30 mins (while people are walking in). A lot of members love your voice and the harmony is beautiful. - From a church in Bangalore, India. (We found your channel after listening to David Wesley)

      Thanks - I appreciate your kind words. Have you by chance purchased any of the albums? I would kindly request you to do that instead of downloading them for free. That helps me out a ton. If you've downloaded all of the videos, just visit michaellining.bandcamp.com and on any of the albums, use the "buy full discography" option. Thanks for your help with this. Creating these videos takes 4-6 hours a piece, and I don't typically make them freely available. I'm glad that your church likes them.

    Thank you Michael for reminding us of the victory we have in Jesus.

    This was one of my Dad's favorite songs. Unfortunately, my Dad struggled with some mental health issues for most of his life. So this song holds a great deal of meaning for me now that I'm older and can understand some of my Dad's challenges better.

    Beautiful voice and great song to pick, Michael! But it amazes me how many "Naaman's" (2 Kings 5:1-14) there are the world to who refuse to take God at His Word and allow false teachers to guide them away from the Truth. In Acts 2:38 Peter did just say repent, did he?!? NO! He repeated what Jesus said before! See for yourselves:
    John 3:3-5,22;
    Matthew 28:19-20;
    Mark 16:15-16
    Don't let false teachers explain away God's CLEAR truth!
    "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
    ~ 2 Timothy 2:15
    "Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so."
    - Acts 17:11
    "I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers, that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another."
    ~ 1 Corinthians 4:6
    "Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen."
    - 1 Peter 4:11
    "knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit."
    ~ 2 Peter 1:20-21 (see Ephesians 2:20; 3:1:6)
    "Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth."
    - John 17:17
    "So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
    ~ John 8:31-32
    "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work."
    - 2 Timothy 3:16-17
