Hi Jill, I Made your Red Lentil Flat bread today and it came out great. I did not have the Red Lentils so I used Yellow Lentils. I am amazed at how good they taste. It was very hard to let the first side get cooked well and I ruined a couple until I caught on. Sometimes waiting almost 5 minutes before turning.
Wow!! PTL I just found your channel this morning. I've already watched you make the regular lentil flatbread and now watched you make this one and when you sing the little song when you take a bite, that's exactly like something I do when I'm eating something. Very yummy! These lentils flatbread cakes are wonderful recipes!! How smart and creative. I've already got lentils soaking now. This looks like an excellent channel and I have subscribed and I do believe I'm going to do the $5 a month so that I can do the 28 day plant-based intro and I am really glad to have found you and that you're here. Thank you so much!.❤
Jill, I just received your new cook book!!! Love it!!💗💕💖 Today I made Creamy cauliflower soup with wild rice... delicious!! Also I make your red lentil flatbread all the time with peanut butter!! Yummy! Can’t wait to try this recipe!! Thanks for all your hard work to keep us healthy!!😊
I can’t wait to try this! I absolutely fell in love with the original flatbread recipe. I like to eat them with stewed berries, banana, nut butter, and date syrup for breakfast as “pancakes”.
Love this recipe I will be trying this with green lentils I have a ton of them. 😊 thank you for these videos. As a diabetic this will make a great bread substitute.
Have you seen her 1st video 'Vegan lentil flatbread', the comment especially on the top 2/3 plus following comments re using different lentil, beans and fermenting times, India being hotter than US &UK (me). SO HELPFUL 😊
Great idea using the griddle. I like to use mine as mini pizza crusts that I bake in my air fryer. I will have to try this flavor with my next burrito bowl 😋
Happy and Healthy New Year! 🥳 This recipe sounds delicious. Your Vegan crustless vegetable quiche is outrageously delicious. ❤️🤤I also made your mouthwatering vegan blondies. . ❤️🤤Thank you so much for sharing with us your knowledge and your love for The whole Food Plant Based diet . ❤️🙏❤️
I made your carrot cake recipe but instead of making the cake I made muffins. They came out delicious and so good. I also make the leek soup today. I love your recipes they tastes really good and always work work. Thank you 😊 💓
I made the frosting, but its in the fridge. I will use it if I feel like some frosting on the muffin. Its so nice to eat a muffin tasting so good and knowing its healthy as well and not feel guilty 😋
LOL😂🤣I liked the video before I watched it... The nacho flatbread looks soooo good😋 Thanks for sharing... Happy 2021 New Year to you and your family...
OK, made them today, 1-3-2021. My husband and I love them. I've taken some and cut them into wedges, have them dehydrating for 'Doritos' substitutes, as I can't, don't eat those things anymore. We'll see how they come out too. :) Thank you!
@@gayledickerson2487 They came out very well. Not quite as thin or as flavorful as I remember the commercial chips, but I'm thinking maybe using a bit more spices in them might be good. They do crisp up very nicely, are about twice as thick as the commercial corn chips, but I will be making more, I made a double batch of the 'tortilla' thickness of them today. We had them as tortillas, and I will be making ''saved-overs' into chips. They are worth doing for sure. Blessings! 1-4-2021
The chips are perfect for dipping, and hold up to stiff dips too. I am thinking I need to make some plant based cream cheese, because they would be perfect with that. :)
Happy New Year you guys! You've been an inspiration to me for going vegan and especially WFPB which I am working towards being 100% WFPB as much as I can this year! Suggestion: you guys should do blooper reels for your videos especially if something funny happens!
a question if I may, I've tried both recipes and find that they are still creamy on the inside. Are they suppose to be that way or is the batter to thick?
Some other people have had the same results and I'm not completely sure why. My best quess is that maybe the batter is overblended. Sometimes it is the bean itself. Store bought beans sometimes sit on the shelf or in storage before getting to the supermarket for long periods of time so it is difficult to tell how fresh they are. That makes a difference in the soaking part. If they are old, then they absorb less water.
Same here: the inside center is not cooked even if the outside is well cooked. I do not know what I am doing wrong. I am using the same griddle and the temperature is between 300-350 degres F. Help!!!!
Me too, but I am using the red lentils. I am making them now. I am trying to smash them down with the spatula once they have cooked some on both sides. Taste better, but still not right in the middle. (Also, they are not as pretty smashed down.) I will try adding less water next time. If anyone figures this out, please post.
i have crap pans and got same result as u with gooey centre, although i used red lentils. so anyway i decided to eliminate the centres and make straight stripes or snakes. worked well. i just pick em up to eat as snack. no fork.
I wonder how they would be if I used the green lentils, as those are more readily available here in Costa Rica. The red lentils are imported and really expensive.
It seems as if this recipe could also be easily made in a non-stick skillet, just the same as your original red lentil flatbread ( 👍 ) - - which is to say, one doesn't need to invest in an electric non-stick griddle.
Oh sure teach me to make epic flat bread now I have to order 40 pounds of spilt red lentils... As I will eat the flat bread daily for the rest of my life....
I don't eat nooch, will it make a big difference if I omit it? I'm kind of sceptical to this, haha!😁 I find beans and lentils to be so....dry and grainy. These can't be moist and fluffy?😄 (I still eat beans and lentils but I really don't like the consistency, I wish they would be creamier...)
What brand of nutritional yeast are you using? The last time I checked only two companies in the US (Trim Healthy Mama and Sari) produced both a non-genetically-modified and a non-vitamin-fortified nutritional yeast.
Please help me! I bought the griddle and I turn it up to 375°. I have followed this recipe many times! The bread never gets done in the middle! Someone please tell me what I can do to have it dry all the way through the middle.😢😢😢😢😢😢😮😮😮
@@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow Thanku soo much for answering!! Wow!! So fast!! Even my plain ones do the same! So I’m perplexed! Is 375 the correct temp for the griddle?Should I add more water?🌺🙏🌺🙏🌺
WAIT!!! You drained the liquid out of these???? the original recipe for red lentil flatbreads, you did not say to drain the liquid. Mine were so runny, they never set up at all.
When I made the plain lentil flatbread recipe, they were waaaaaayyy too earthy tasting. They were kind of gross honestly but I really wanted to like them because they are simple to make. Maybe flavoring them would be better?
for the plain lentil pancake recipe , I added a tsp of garlic powder in the original recipe. it did not taste like beans, i was very surprised too. Make sure you rinse the soaked lentils very well before blending it.
It's because red lentils cook through super fast in general (10min) and if you soak them AND puree them (make "wet" flour kind of) the heat of a pan or griddle is sufficient 🥰
@@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow sounds perfect Thank you! I do love salsa, but I don't always have it on hand and that's why I'm asking! Thank you thank thank you!! 🥰

Split peas and split chick peas also work well.

Have you tried adding an ingredient that will minimize sticking?
a question if I may, I've tried both recipes and find that they are still creamy on the inside. Are they suppose to be that way or is the batter to thick?

Hi Jill. Is the plant based cooking book available to order in singapore? If not , is there an online version I can print out?
Mine have a liquid pasty center even if I cook then until they are almost black. Is this because I used yellow lentils?
Same here: the inside center is not cooked even if the outside is well cooked. I do not know what I am doing wrong. I am using the same griddle and the temperature is between 300-350 degres F. Help!!!!
Use red lentils. I was using yellow. I was cooking the yellow lentil bread for 25 minutes on the griddle till almost burned with liquid centers still.
Me too, but I am using the red lentils. I am making them now. I am trying to smash them down with the spatula once they have cooked some on both sides. Pace Picante Mild

Where does the nacho taste come from?
Do these have a pancake consistency? Anybody?
what brand of nutritional yeast do you use?
Anthony’s
👌😊😊😊
I wonder if I can use these like a tortilla for tacos.
I'm finding it difficult to find the red lentil, can you also use the green lentil.
Pretty sure you can, as long as you soak them overnight
Can you use a T fal nonstick pan?
Not sure, I don’t have one, sorry
Would this work on parchment paper in the oven? I don’t have anything that will work otherwise
If you have a skillet (or other large pan) that can be put in the oven, you could turn it upside down and bake on the flat bottom.
I think it would work great 👍
@@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow thanks I have a cookie sheet that I’d put parchment paper on
I wonder if these could work if they were bigger and thinner to be used as a wrap?
Absolutely 👍
What about making these on a nonstick fry pan just like in an original recipe?
Yes
Mine stuck also on my non stick pan...didn’t care for the taste, maybe will try with half lentils and half oat flour
If one doesn't care for nutritional yeast is there a sub for that or just leave it out? If leaving it out, would you reduce the liquid?
Just leave it out. Maybe less 1/4 cup water. You can always add the water back if it is too thick.
Oh sure teach me to make epic flat bread now I have to order 40 pounds of spilt red lentils... As I will eat the flat bread daily for the rest of my life....
