They had worked on projects together in the past and had built good chemistry together. It really shows how much faith the show runners had in all those involved.
“How did he even survive the swim over here?” That is a great question I have yet to hear anyone think of. I missed it and the production certainly did too.
I thought of it too and in my head, I thought maybe he's in a waterproof bag, like a leather bag maybe. But then how would he breathe? I'm just imagining, Arlong and his crew would periodically stop and let Buggy breathe.
@@rovidelarosa Is there any proof he needs to breathe? In which case, if there is, I'm sure his body...where his lungs are located, is doing it just fine. Keep the bag waterproof and there shouldn't be any issues...including lack of oxygen, no?

So basically once they go look for the One Piece it’s not so easy to just return back and visit Zeff as the OP world is huge & complex geographically. Also in the anime during the departing scene instead of Zeff saying “you keep your feet dry” he says “don’t catch a cold” then Sanji bows down and shows his gratitude. The LA adaption did a good job because it still hits you in the feels overall. Really enjoyed y’all reaction
Honestly, I like the change to 'keep your feet dry' for the double meaning. People have pointed out before, Zeff used to have his boots soaked in the blood of his enemies, so he's not just asking Sanji to keep healthy physically but to stay a better pirate/man than he was.
OP world isn't huge at all, they sail so many islands in just a few days. It's the geography as you said that sucks, and the teeming danger at every turn...
@@tiagoeidam2634 as someone who will never watch the anime, the line they used was far more potent. "don't catch a cold" has no connection to the back story whatsoever in my eyes, so it was a smart move to change it for the live action. Your reaction and genuine connection opened up this episode to me way more than it has in the past. I'm sure you guys already filmed the next one, but it's gonna get even more emotional, prepare yourselves.
The actor who portrays Zeff is so amazing. I cried twice in this episode. The child actors for Sanji and Nami were the best. So talented ❤ and great singing at the start😊.
love you girls & your reactions especially because your reactions remind us how we reacted the same way when we started the one-piece Journey.... except we didn't throw up. 😂
I've seen it in the anime 5+ times, I've seen it in the live action 3 times now, but Sanji's departure scene still makes me cry so hard every time, he and Zeff have such a strong connection.
Sanji's farewell was the first time I really felt the connection to OP and knew I had to keep watching. Then Arlong happened, and yeah...safe to say, there was no turning back at that point.
If you recall Nami's explanation of the Grand Line, it's a separate sea divided from the rest of the world, and they need the map to even GET to it. Going back to visit is not easy. This is also presumably why Shanks stopped coming back to visit Luffy as well. They had been chilling in the East Blue for a while, then finally left to go to the Grand Line. Just want to add I LOVE your reactions. So real, so funny, and you catch so many little details it's amazing.
you guys seem to forget the Grand Line is also known as the pirates graveyard. it's a one-way trip for most so Sanji can't just come back to the Baratie as he pleases
That intro was cute though 😂 Hey man let your sister sing her Elvis Presley. Also, fish skin grafts actually a real medical technique to improve wound healing because of its anti-bacterial properties 👍 And that Sanji thirst is real 🤣 I'm a guy but shirtless Sanji made me look twice.
interesting note: the anime decided to tone down Sanji's backstory a bit by having Zeff get his leg stuck on rocks and an anchor while trying to rescue Sanji, so it's pretty cool OPLA is sticking more to the manga and able to keep more mature and serious bits in
Baratie was truly the first amazing arc of One Piece and it only gets better and better from here. The way it presented Zeff and Sanji's relationship at first to make you hate it or think it's a one-note trope only to do a one-eighty reveal of why they've been acting like that the entire time that gives both characters so many layers and make you sob in hindsight now given the context? Yeah, One Piece is so well known for that. Oda's writing is seriously phenomenal.
Yay been waiting all week for this one. 🙌 👒🍍🏴☠️⛵️ I love your reactions. You gals are actually genuine in your reactions and you don’t talk over the movie like alot of other reactors are prone to. I love you guys. I havent enjoyed watching any other reaction as much as yours. To see someone else go through the same emotions, is just.. amazing. Thank you, very much.
Mihawk probably knows about the grandson thing because everybody in this world knows the name of the hero, Monkey D. Garp so the connection is pretty easy to make😂
In the anime this revelation takes place like 500 episodes later. So ether everyone in the anime is dense af or everybody keeps it to themself. Or maybe Monkey is a realy common name, who knows. Aniway i quite liked the marine B-plot in the live aktion, its a good addition to the original story
@@khvilseror, even more likely, everyone knows "Vice Admiral Garp, the Hero of the Marines" but much fewer people know that his full name is "Monkey D. Garp". Epithets and titles matter more than his family name to the masses.
@@khvilser in the anime everything is different, he has no interactions with mihawk and we don’t know how coby finds out, just the crew is surprised… But tbh robin should have known, also in the latest chapter you see she always read the newspaper and knew every warlord etc.

So in the manga he did indeed eat his own leg. They kinda censored it by changing it in the anime, in the anime Sanji goes down in a ship, Zeff jumps in to save him, his leg gets tangled around a chain and he's forced to chop it off to get free.
24:31 😂😂😂I'm dying.. the obvious forced reaction from Kiss and then Haylo picking up on that and laughing at it, then Kiss's "crying" transforming into laughter behind her hand. If you watch the anime, you would find out that the dog, that makes a cameo at the end of the 2nd episode Chouchou, had a sad back story as well. Loved the reaction. The actors on this show have all nailed their parts. If you loved this episode, I can't wait for the next episode reaction.

i don't know if this helps, but the one with the big lips is supposed to be a "kissing fish" or "kissing gourami" that's why his mouth is like that and why sometimes he seems to be sending kisses

I loved this! The emotional roller coaster you girls went on with this episode is the best explanation of what 1000+ episodes of the anime does every week ^^
yes this is what i like to see, people who have no idea what One Piece is about trying it with the live action. your reactions legitimize the quality of this adaptation and its fun to see you guys react to things i reacted to waaaaaaaaaaay back
28:09 Someone had pointed out before but I'll elaborate it a bit more. As Nami mentioned the World's seas are divided into 4, The redline is a mountain that split the ocean in two while the calm belt split it further. You could climb the mountain to cross to the other side but it is normally guarded by marines which makes it harder for Pirates to pass through. The same goes for the Calm Belt which is a windless sea which makes wind powered ship harder to pass through but it is also filled with Sea Monsters even bigger than the ones shown that had bitten off Shank's arm. So it's a tad bit difficult for Sanji to visit back Zeff and the Baratie unless they became marine themselves.
Funfact: The fishman who looks like he had a bad surgery job is called Chuu in Japanese which is the japanese sound for kissing, because he always looks like hes puckering his lips for a kiss. In Germany he‘s called Kiss, to keep the lips joke 👄 😂

Sounds like you two are getting closer to being ready for the 19 seasons of the anime! (19 dropped yesterday). It's a heck of a ride. While they had to condense the first 30 or so episodes into 8 for the live action. The anime has all the nuance that really lets you get to know the characters. They make friends everywhere they go, not just enemies. Then reference back to them more than 10 years later. An offhand one liner becomes a major plot point down the line. Its definitely worth the watch.
love watching people who weren't an OP fan get to discover this wonderful world created by Oda, love your reaction feels organic and true, please keep up the good work!!!
Man, this episode is my favorite episode of the show, such a collection of memorable and meaningful moments all combined I'm still baffled at how this project not only came to life, but is the greatest manga adaptation to pierce the bubble and achieve one of the best results a show like that can ever do, bring people to enjoy the anime and manga, people who would never even attempt to give One Piece a chance now do, and I'm so grateful!
When "I don't know whether to cry or throw up right now 😭" is someone's reaction to your backstory you know you need a therapist lmao. No spoilers for the main series but I really want to see the live action for the rest of Sanji's backstory, though that's like 800 episodes deep so idk if it's possible lol
Arlong is a Sawshark Fishman and his two subordinates are named Kuroobi (the guy with the giant elbows) and Chew (the one with the huge lips) who are both Manta Ray and Smelt-Whiting Fishmen respectively, also that guy who greets others at the entrance of Baratie is a Seahorse Fishman. The Fishmen are a race of humanoid beings with the attributes and traits of fish, it’s not from any kind of Devil Fruit. They’re basically humans but unlike humans proper they can breathe on both land and water, can swim incredibly fast, and some have monstrous strength. Unfortunately Arlong’s hatred of humans isn’t entirely unjustified as the Fishmen do face discrimination and prejudice. They don’t have basic human rights and are treated not like people but like fish from most humans solely based on how they look. But Arlong isn’t acting any better by discriminating the ones that discriminate his people, it’s just an endless cycle of hatred on both sides that feels all too real because racism is still a serious existing problem in our world.
And I thought I could somehow control myself from crying for the 23rd time. Boy, I was wrong! Shatters me every time. I even muttered myself to not cry this time. Lol.
i have watched the entire 1000+ episodes of this anime and i cannot tell u the amount of times ive cried and laughed watching the anime. You think yo're over but no, the story telling is just too good. it is criminal how good the writer Echiiro Oda is, the emotional scenes we've seen in this season is nothing compared to what we deal with in the future seasons and the different topics we deal with as well ( trauma, loss, loneliness and so much more) it is handled brilliantly in the anime and manga, excited to see how they do it in live action

That made talks of giant waves out of no where in clear weather with otherwise calm seas sound like crazy talk, especially when you had this one guy saying he his friend's cousins grandpa was the sole sruvivor of one and no one else had seen anything like it.
Of course in this case, his friends cousin's grandpa really WAS the sole survivor, but it still sounded crazy.
EDIT: Also, they never form near shore where someone one land can see them. It literally took satellites to prove they exist.
Doesn't matter how many times I watch Sanji and Zeff's parting, either live action, anime or manga, I still cry like a baby 😭😭😭
I’m a massive One Piece fan and I love how the live action is getting people who wouldn’t normally be exposed to it to see how great it is. Your reactions are fantastic too. Welcome aboard :)
What’s really cool about that actors that portray Zeff and Sanji is that Taz, who plays Sanji, is the one who recommended Craig, who plays Zeff, for this part. They had worked on projects together in the past and had built good chemistry together. It really shows how much faith the show runners had in all those involved.
“How did he even survive the swim over here?”
That is a great question I have yet to hear anyone think of. I missed it and the production certainly did too.
I thought of it too and in my head, I thought maybe he's in a waterproof bag, like a leather bag maybe. But then how would he breathe? I'm just imagining, Arlong and his crew would periodically stop and let Buggy breathe.
Classic fridge
@@rovidelarosa Is there any proof he needs to breathe? In which case, if there is, I'm sure his body...where his lungs are located, is doing it just fine. Keep the bag waterproof and there shouldn't be any issues...including lack of oxygen, no?
I gotchu fam ... The fish guy holding the Buggy-bag has like one arm out of the water holding the bag as he swims.
And he can do it! Cuz he's a fish guy 🐟
@@rovidelarosa My guess is because his body is back at Arlong Park he's breathing the entire time to his brains wishes, no matter the condition of his head.
Yea not sure why they changed that one phrase. "Don't catch a cold" would of hit harder in my opinion
I caught the double meaning on first watch, but I'm glad other people caught it, too. far more impactful when you do.
@@sgerardpandiannot really the travel time between islands took several days or weeks
3:43 If u guys noticed in the last episode when Garp call Mihawk he only said the name Luffy he didn't talk about the last name but before Zoro and Mihawk fight Mihawk called Luffy as Money D Luffy not just Luffy.
Even earlier, the night before at the bar when Mihawk first met Usopp, Nami, and Zoro, he said Luffy's full name.
@@thestarkster9940 aaa yeah that's right
Mihawk is associated with uh...that one rat guy...so maybe because of him he knows the full name?
@@kiilee5963 I think there is another reason that make him knows but it would be spoil so it's better to not say anything till they're finished they the whole series.
@@xanakonesyphanthong_01 I would've hoped you knew who I was referring to.
the "you can always go visit right?" killed me LMAO
I've watched this episode probably a dozen times with a dozen different reaction channels. This is legit the first time I ever came to tears. Your reaction and genuine connection opened up this episode to me way more than it has in the past. I'm sure you guys already filmed the next one, but it's gonna get even more emotional, prepare yourselves.
"I hope is not as heavy as that last one"
...Famous last words
Right! Like girl, you just jinxed it 😂😅
They are not ready, but nobody is lmfaoo
You poor sweet summer child, how long till they have to jump to Anime Adaptation.
The story Nami was reading about Nolan the Liar is VERY important for future episodes. Great reaction, Sanji's child actor is very talented.
I’m giving Season 3 for that
The actor who portrays Zeff is so amazing.
It's so heart breaking because you know how lost Sanji was after he runs away from Germa
You two are the best to watch this. Bubbly silly and heartfelt is your personalities and so is this show. Its something so dang special
I love how you started crying like all of us.
you guys seem to forget the Grand Line is also known as the pirates graveyard. it's a one-way trip for most so Sanji can't just come back to the Baratie as he pleases
👒🍍🏴☠️⛵️
I love your reactions. You gals are actually genuine in your reactions and you don’t talk over the movie like alot of other reactors are prone to. Also y’all are very perceptive and catch all the little things.
Subscribed for the Chernobyl reactions, stayed for the One Piece 😄
Genuinely the best reaction to this show I've seen. Can't wait for the final two episodes. You'll both love it.
I’ve watched way too many hours of reactions videos. Let me tell you…this is the only one that made me cry and laugh and cry with laughter with you two every step of the way.
I literally waited 2 weeks for you guys to upload this. i knew it would be special for you guys
One Piece is unbelievable. One moment your crying then seconds later your laughing. A rollercoaster of emotions
And surprisingly, Oda is still able to keep that happening amazingly after over 25 years!
i love how invested you two are, and how often you are able to connect the dots!!
"But you can always go visit..😢" hahahahaah..suddenly all the emotion was gone 😂 love it how Haylo been crying and change to laugh after that 😂😂😂
I love you guys. I havent enjoyed watching any other reaction as much as yours. To see someone else go through the same emotions, is just.. amazing.
Thank you, very much.
7:19 "He's such a brave little kid!"
Me, knowing what happened to him before being on the Orbit: Uh, yeah....
@@khvilser in the anime everything is different, he has no interactions with mihawk and we don’t know how coby finds out, just the crew is surprised…
But tbh robin should have known, also in the latest chapter you see she always read the newspaper and knew every warlord etc.
@@JoshTheValiant an argument could be made that they were hiding the D. Like they did with Roger. But in Marinford Sengok like told the whole world how their family relationship works so it makes me think they wouldn’t hide the name of the greatest marine hero, the worst criminal in the world and they always printed luffys full name on the wanted posters anyway. So basically this is a small plothole which was done so we readers could have some wtf surprise moments
Think he also knows about....who Luffy's father is? No names, so it's not spoiled for the newcomers (they can't not tell us that bit in this show).
Thank you for these wholesome reactions. It’s very much appreciated. I’m at work crying with y’all. I’m sure my coworkers are like wtf is wrong with him. 😂
Backstorys of characters in one piece just get exponentially sadder and sadder, currently at chapter 1100 they reached a new height with stuff that is so cruel you can’t even imagine it😂 eating limbs, death friends and family is like a walk in the park.
Not to mention, the underlying history in One Piece that's literally.... Lost
Watching your reactions are so fun. You sisters are so wholesome.
Also, this is the best episode for me. The backstory is just so well done. The ending never fails to bring a tear to my eye.
So in the manga he did indeed eat his own leg. They kinda censored it by changing it in the anime, in the anime Sanji goes down in a ship, Zeff jumps in to save him, his leg gets tangled around a chain and he's forced to chop it off to get free.
"you can always go visit" 🤣 I said the same thing when I watched this episode LOL 🤣🤣🤣
24:31 😂😂😂I'm dying.. the obvious forced reaction from Kiss and then Haylo picking up on that and laughing at it, then Kiss's "crying" transforming into laughter behind her hand. I watched it so many times and laughed every time. Or just in general in other videos whenever Kiss is making a frown and looking at her sister, then Haylo sometimes laughs at that frown.. just hilarious.
If you watch the anime, you would find out that the dog, that makes a cameo at the end of the 2nd episode Chouchou, had a sad back story as well. Loved the reaction. The actors on this show have all nailed their parts. If you loved this episode, I can't wait for the next episode reaction.
Ah yes! The sweet, sweet tears of a new One Piece fan being born. I sure hope this encourages you to try the anime one day.
y'all have the best reactions on this series by far.
Ive never seen reactors go through the literal range of every single emotion loool, it was so good! This was so entertaining! Im guessing on your Patreon at least ONE person must have suggested "Jujutsu Kaisen" by now. With the amount of handsome characters in that show, honestly would love to see your reactions to that lmao. Can't wait for the next one!
i don't know if this helps, but the one with the big lips is supposed to be a "kissing fish" or "kissing gourami" that's why his mouth is like that and why sometimes he seems to be sending kisses
Watching reactions to One Piece is the closest we can get to reading or watching it the first time again
The joy I got from the laughing every time the lips and eyebrows fish guy was on screen is the best part of my day so far 😂
“Why is this episode so emotional?!”
“I do not know why I am crying?”
Ah, welcome to One Piece experience
28:54 Sadly they cut Island of Rare Animals from the show
"I hope the next episode isn't as heavy as this episode"
Famous last words from poor sweet summer child.
11:38 hahaha this is a very sad moment but that was too funny
Beautiful song ngl.. Everyone has that friend that randomly starts singing when it's time to watch something 😅
I loved this! The emotional roller coaster you girls went on with this episode is the best explanation of what 1000+ episodes of the anime does every week ^^
Your sister is so emotional, which makes it fun to watch your responses.
Zeff in the middle of his emotional speech
Kiss: 🤢🤢🤢
Hahahaha
yes this is what i like to see, people who have no idea what One Piece is about trying it with the live action. your reactions legitimize the quality of this adaptation and its fun to see you guys react to things i reacted to waaaaaaaaaaay back
Genuinely love the emotional reactions. Glad ya’ll are enjoying the show.
I loved all the emotions this episode brought out of you. Can't wait for the next ones!!
9:30 "This is traumatic." I mean, that's just a One Piece character backstory.
29:50 "I hope [Nami's backstory] isn't as heavy as [Sanji's]." Oh boy...
18:49 lol Haylo’s face. Ready to throw hands for zeff
"I don't whether to cry or throw up right now!" ... that's like reaction Shakespeare
I love your reactions to this series so much, it makes me feel so invested even though I've already seen it so many times! I'm already mourning its end in a few episodes LOL but I can't wait to see you eventually watch season 2 as well, whenever it'll be out
Sobbing the saddest tears and then laughing through the tears, is the EPITOME of One Piece. Love your guys’s reactions
If you thought this was emotional, wait until you see Nami's story!
Wait until Sanji tells his backstory
@@wikansaktianto9215 he already did in this episode
@@gamermike24 there's another layer of Sanji's backstory.. hehe. and its as emotional as the one with Zef and if ever the live action gets there, Im sure it'll heart wrenching scenes also.
@@Dear_9000I mean I doubt the live action will ever get to that point, but sanjis life is just fucked up
Sounds like you two are getting closer to being ready for the 19 seasons of the anime!
Yeah it is. Just read the newest chapter.. And Oda doesn't disappoint.. Crazy how he keeps this up.
i love how you cry for this serie...if you see the anime, you will cry every episode, this is one piece
it's sooo fun seeing you guys gag, cry, and laugh this entire episode 🤣
Wow, loved your reactions! so wholesome. Looking forward to the next one!
love watching people who weren't an OP fan get to discover this wonderful world created by Oda, love your reaction feels organic and true, please keep up the good work!!!
Man, this episode is my favorite episode of the show, such a collection of memorable and meaningful moments all combined
I'm still baffled at how this project not only came to life, but is the greatest manga adaptation to pierce the bubble and achieve one of the best results a show like that can ever do, bring people to enjoy the anime and manga, people who would never even attempt to give One Piece a chance now do, and I'm so grateful!
love how yall get so invested. makes my heart feel full
Couldn't have said it better
Yep, & there’s a later arc in the series that hammers this home: Fishman Island.
You guys had me crying right along with you. Loveee your reactions, keep them coming!
And I thought I could somehow control myself from crying for the 23rd time. Boy, I was wrong! Shatters me every time. I even muttered myself to not cry this time. Lol.
“I hope [Nami’s episode] is not as heavy as this one.” -famous last words

i have watched the entire 1000+ episodes of this anime and i cannot tell u the amount of times ive cried and laughed watching the anime.
