Taylor has got the staff he knows can up the heat on the entire marching band scene. We are just in the beginning stages of some legendary art being unleashed.

I thought I’ve seen just about everything as far as band halftime shows, BUT THE “JIGGA TRAIN” COMING WAS THE ABSOLUTE BEST! Way to go featuring the band section by section giving all of those fantastic musicians some well deserved shine! Loved the entire fantastic show! “Ain’t Nobody” can do it better!
I really like the fact that they had so many different fieldshows this fall 🔥🔥💙💛 I know they gonna go off for Bayou Classic
I like how Dolls perform in the middle of the field. It gives the SU fans on the away side a view as well.
I was in the stands with front row seats and this may be in the top 3 All time halftime shows I have ever seen, and I been to about 100 Southern games. That Jigga Train was the Supreme knockout blow. Jackson wasn't ready, no contest.
Loved the halftime show. That precision drill at the beginning was amazing. It's funny but I think the rivalry between SU and JState is actually more formidable than the rivalry between SU and Grambling. You can feel the animosity.
I think southern and jackson genuinely have resentment towards one another. The pettiness is quite excessive to say the least...lol. Grambling and su on the other hand has turned into a family affair with the element of trash talking and bragging rights included. It used to be quite bitter though. It seems to have taken a respectful turn over the last 5yrs or so. At the end of the day, no matter how exciting the boombox classic is, we know the Bayou Classic has no competition. It's in the right place at the right time and involves two of the greatest universities, teams, bands, and fan bases in ALL of hbcu football. Hands down!!! 🖐🏽👇🏾
You cannot have a rivalry with a band that's an imitation of another band's art. For decades Jackson State has been transforming their band into that of a Human Jukebox imitation.
From the drills stolen from the Isaac Gregg's era drill book, to the writing for power style, to the uniform dress code.
Grambling on the other hand is a true rival. They have their own field band marching and drilling style, very nice uniforms, and they write their music to their own unique writing style.
They have always been a formidable but different challenger to the Jukebox and it has served both bands well.
They both have a very high presence and are well known for their own traditions. So when the two go head to head, you get two high quality bands with two totally different styles . Choose your favorite.
Same cannot be said for the Jukebox imitation band of Jackson Mississippi.
@@cinemuh if I could like this 1,000 times I would. No lies stated my brother. Straight facts. I remember when jsu was a band with a big, clean, full sound and very entertaining field shows. Somewhere in the late 90's, early 2,000's they, like most swac bands, fell for the "blowing is better" mentality. It changed the conference bandwise. Now almost every band is the same. Same attempt at sound, same fieldshows, same concepts recycled. Meanwhile, Grambling gets attacked and persecuted even when they are CLEARLY a very good band simply because they won't settle and comply. It's ridiculous man.

This is perfectly ok for High Schools, but these monkey see monkey do college band's are ridiculous.
It reeks of lazy band directors that would rather plagiarize another bands art than to put in the hard work of creating or even innovating for their members.
I don't blame the kids as they are not in charge. It's these band directors who probably marched against the Human Jukebox back in the day and was so in awe of what they witnessed until they have no other choice but to imitate to try to be the best.
Thank goodness for The Jukebox, Famu, Grambling, Tennessee State, NC A & T and a few others for not abandoning their traditional foundation for that of another band. All have different style art to display and they are all a force in their own rights.
@@KJinTX The band in the video below is a very good Jackson State band in the late 70's. They could have made the decision to build on and refine this drilling and marching style as well as uniforms. They chose to go the Jukebox imitation route. A decision they will have to live with under an imitation band asterisk.
It's totally sad because looking at this video, their current band looks more like the old school and new school Jukebox bands than they do their own 1970's band.
This cannot be said about Grambling, Famu, Tennessee or several others.
Marching band art is built through hard work, and it should not be ignored when a group of lazy people decide to take the shortcut by plagiarizing another's accomplished hard work. Not cool.

The "Human JukeBox" precision drill and sound was beyond on point! The Dolls gave the Jsettes a dance class on the field, that was full of entertainment and technical bliss. The Drum Major's routine was unique and something to see! The Human JukeBox always delivers! Well done band and staff, WELL DONE! Love loVE LOVE!🔥 🔥🔥🔥

@@armfrosting Well I don't know, because no one could see the Jsettes stands at all. I really don't know why the Jsettes always choose to sit on the sideline at SU. Every other band dance team sat in the stands below their band, including Alcorn GG's, and they have the largest team of them all. JSU band Director should've removed all those people that were in the stands filming below the band. That spot for the dance teams. There was plenty of room for the Jsettes to sit there, so they can't say there wasn't any room for them. 4 rows more than enough for the Jsettes. And for anyone who still say there wasn't enough room for the Jsettes can go back and look at the previous teams who sat in that same spot.

Not in the last 2-3 years; if so, that vote is definitely bias paid promo. They have made some improvement during this game, but not enough for this title. So many other HBCU dance squads hitting it on every cylinder. I have to know….What was the criteria, which schools were included, who were the judges? I’m gonna be honest…..the SU Dolls use to be entertaining, recently not so much. Hopefully, this is taken as constructive criticism for them to make the right improvements. I use to like watching them, but SU cymbals routine is much more entertaining to watch in the stand than the SU Dolls. Not sure if this a result of their new coordinator or not, because SU current Captain is everything & has always been. This feeback is what most are saying in the dance world & I have to agree. I know it maybe hard to digest but this is true. I look forward to their improvement.

Dang, the jukebox literally was partying on the field. They won that halftime easily......but glad JSU won the game. I have always loved this band...and I'm a JSU and sonic boom alum. Just saying.... if they had've won that game in would have worn a hoodie over my head for a week.

Great halftime show!!! One thing I really love about marching band is the drills, and the HBJ definitely didn't disappoint. However, I want to ask those who commented about other bands imitating SU, specifically on the power part. First, I want to know what band was the FIRST to actually "crank up". Secondly, the "playing for power" topic is a hot debate right now in the HBCU band world; who's to blame for that? There has been plenty, and I mean PLENTY, for comments post on SM by SU bandmembers doggin other bands sound not reaching across the field, or sounding soft, or not being loud. Spectators (bandheads) further egged this on. In the HBCU band world a lot of people seem to think that SWAC bands, in general, imitate SU, but I don't see it as that. Out of the 12 universities' marching bands, I can only name FOUR that really do go the power route. In the past I would've said six. UAPB, AlaAM, MSVU, GSU, recently AlaSt, and the new additions FAMU & BCU all have their own style pretty much. So this will make for a very unique and diverse conference of marching bands. If people want to see more diversity with our beloved bands, maybe we need to stop putting so much on power and aggression.

Personally, I am just not a fan of the jigga movement but I get that locally it's the jam so I can't hate on the kids and crowd grooving too what's popular now. I do like how Southern continues to mix the old and the new. I'm in the 40s club now so give me the old stuff. Dolls were on point.....all of them, so Kudos to them. JSU gave tribute to SU and I thought that was nice. I wish we played more during the game in the stands. This was my first game back in years and it just didn't have enough hype for when it counts......during the game. Our teams needs the Juke. Hype the team. Hype the crowd. Love yall always.
