2008 BMW M3 E93 - Mountain Road Drive & Review

- I'm still pinching myself even over a week after I got to drive this fantastic BMW E93 M3, just to make sure I wasn't dreaming. What an amazing experience it was to drive an M3 with the S65 V8, in a car with no top and (by chance) one one of the best driving roads that I know. The car is almost completely stock, but with one important (and engine sound-enhancing) mod, an Eventuri full carbon fiber cold air intake.

As the owner of this same car, 2008, 6MT, single hump, white with red interior, I approve of this video, lol. Best review ever! Thanks
Thanks for watching!
TH-cam videos alone made me go out and hunt my perfect e93 and It doesnt get old one single day. Supposed to be a weekend car but near impossible to not take it to the office every day.
I'd drive it every days too :)
Like your friends I kept mine mod-lite other than an RPI exchaust but Ive been thinking about the Eventuri carbon plenum intake and your videos got me sold on jumping on one-nothing beats that induction sound and rev syncs@@OneTireFire
I got my E93 M3 as a weekend car as well. Have had it for 8 months I’ve already added 6k miles on it. It’s impossibly to not daily. The driving experience is addicting.
Nice review! Excellent balance of dialogue and pov driving.
Thanks for watching!
I'm currently debating buying one of these as a 2nd weekend fun car for spirited driving or a 2013-2015 Audi RS5 V8. Wanted to get your opinion between the two, which would you prefer?@@OneTireFire
@@passion4cars283 The Audi is only really fun in a straight line. The M3 is fun in a straight line and everywhere else too. I'd never buy an Audi if I wanted a fun car with good cornering capability. The M3 would be a no-brainer.
Amazing video Andrei ! Very nice and straight to the point … keep it up!👏
Thanks for watching, happy you liked it!
Great review! I have the 335i vert version in metallic black with a few mods and I love the car! They are so much fun to drive, and the sound of the engine and exhaust together makes the ride experience sensational!
Thank you for watching! The 335i is pure awesomeness. I'm in love with my modded 320d that I've owned for some six years now and I don't plan to ever sell it, just slowly add mods over time to keep it interesting 🤭
Great review. I have a 2011 E93 M3 and you enthusiastically point out everything that makes it great. The hard top definitely adds weight, but the car is by no means “slow” - being able to hear that glorious induction from the front and exhaust at the back is just addicting. My friends keep coming back for rides whenever I’m free 😂
Thank you for watching!
It's definitely not slow by any stretch of the imagination, but it just felt a little heavy. It doesn't detract from the experience. It was one of the best drives I've ever had 😁
How's the car going mate? I've been eyeing one for a while, and have seen a good priced one pop up recent (2012) - Had any issues?
So far no issues at all. I got my 2011 at 36k miles. Haven't done throttle or rod bearings but it'll be a long while till I decide to take that on. Otherwise it's been flawless. Just expect to pay $$$ for gas. That V8 loves to chug but its worth it every second!@@JonsVlogz
Who was waiting on him to turn off DTC
Thanks mate for such a video, such a car doeasn't get the respect she deserves, among e9x Mcars e93 had always been the ugliest son of the family on paper, however, as soon as you yry one, you immediately fall in love, I remember 4 years ago I was looking for a mk1 997 S, I tried and did'nt have the wow feeling, they also had the same white 2008 e93, I tested it and loved it!! Finaly purchase a 2012 grey one with palladium Silver seats... combined with DCT, HARMAN sound and EDC... This is just a dream car, when I see current cost for Z3 M roadster, E93 shld soon become a CLASSIC 😊😊
That sounds like a great spec for an E93 M3. I frankly think it's already a classic. The engine alone is enough to make it that, but when you factor in how good everything about it is, then it immediately becomes a classic in my book. Thank you for watching!
Very good video on the M3 e93
Good job ty👍
TY for watching!
Nice fun winding drive which highlights the fun of these cars. If you ever get to drive a finely tuned, track focused E9x M3 or even 335 you will get a whole different opinion of this car. Btw that was the plenum you touched. Also the E46 has an optional removable hardtop.. E46 cabrio owner here
Thanks for watching!
I'd love to drive an E92 M3 on a windy bit of road, preferably the same that I tried the cabrio on. I've driven a 335i and it was really impressive - it was almost stock and felt quicker than the cabrio V8 in a straight line.
Oh, the plenum, right 😅
The only E46 I ever drove was 320d LCI, which felt really impressive at the time (some 15 years ago).
What is the definition of plenum
Awesome car!
One of the very best.
Have the gearbox remapped to the GTS spec
Yeah, it would need it. Doesn’t it cause extra wear on the box, though?
Hey mate I wanted to know more about this car! I like your driving, I was wondering how is this car for twisty roads and handling can this keep up or be compared to a 'sports car' on the limit?
Hi, thanks for watching!
The car is an absolute blast. It’s not the sharpest thing I’ve ever driven on that road (a far cry from the modern M4, for instance). The steering is direct and there is a lot of grip. I found breaking the rear end loose more difficult than I would have thought before driving the car, but I was surprised how rigid it felt for a convertible. Overall, a very good driving experience on the limit. It feels like a big sports car and has a simply glorious engine!
This is a great car for top down fun but I wouldnt say it should be driven at the limit. it has a weight you can feel. For this reason my wife enjoys the E93 M3 for the top down cruising and power on demand, and I enjoy an upgraded E46 M3 for that nimble confidence inspiring car especially around the corners.
@@meetalpatel9185 My thoughts exactly!
Got to try one of those upgraded E46 M3s one day. I've never driven one and I'm really curious. I have driven E46s and I own an E90 myself, so I know how they are different, but I've never experienced the former in M form...
@@OneTireFire I should be getting my M3 back from the shop in the next month. I will have to do the break in period but if you plan to visit Virginia Beach you are welcome to do a video or test drive my M3. I am getting a 3.3l motor installed, upgraded Diff to a 3.91 diff, Carbon airbox with a tune, subframe reinforced and replaced all the bushings, and a rogue engineering short shifter kit. should feel better than when new and an updated version of how a small M car should feel today *cough* M2 *cough*
@@meetalpatel9185 Thank you very much for the offer. I'll keep it in mind if I ever do visit Virginia!
With those mods, the car will be really raw and characterful! It's roughly the same size and weight as an M2, but it's naturally aspirated so it's even better. And it has better steering:D
Hi guys which is the best exhaust setup for the bmw e92 m3 ac schnitzer exhaust or akrapovic exhaust ?
I'd stick to stock and get a carbon fiber intake plenum like the car in the video. The factory exhaust is already fairly loud, but if you make the induction noise louder, you will get more (and better) sound in the cabin.
@OneTireFire Factory exhaust is absolutely quiet, unless you have the optional MPE exhaust.
U went to Switzerland?
Ah, just bought from CH
Well, the lovely road I shot the video on could have been in Switzerland :)
Engine yellow light is on.
Nope, it's the stability control light. The car was in mint condition mechanically.
@@OneTireFire uffff. Thanks god.
