I love this one too. So catchy, so boppy, but so dark, but so hopeful. Unbelievably poetic. Sample from a song that's deeply meaningful to Ren (if you haven't seen the video of Ren with The Big Push doing Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble So Hard, it's a helluva performance). Produced by Ren (which is always a cool thing, it's ridiculous that he's so good at THAT too). Might be an interesting thing for Renegades to see you react to that one close on the heels of having reacted to & liked this one?
Released in conjunction with ME Awareness Week, the slogan for which is #MillionsMissing, or just #Missing for short; "posters up, manhunt, Ren went missing" is in part a reference to that. Ren never had ME, but he was misdiagnosed with it for half a decade and was involved with the online community, promising to reach back and help if he ever got "out." So here he is, all these years later, and he's got a platform, and he's doing what he can to raise awareness and increase empathy for folks who too often are dismissed as "making it up" or being "lazy/just don't want to work or go to school" and BS like that and left to rot in bed.
Ren filmed this is Canada. For the area he's in this isn't really a lot of snow. It's fresh though when it's all clean and fluffy and pretty. I really want to send Ren boots though. Every time I see him in the snow in runners my feet feel cold.
