My favourite drummer in my all-time favourite band. I am a diehard fan from the age of 8 and, even though I got ridiculed for it through my teens in school, I never wavered in my love of all things Blondie. And now to see them being celebrated as one of the best bands with the hottest living drummer is so gratifying! ❤
I had no idea Mr Burke was the drummer on Thorn In My Side! I've always loved the drumming on that. I've also always loved the drumming on Blondie's Dreaming. It all makes sense now :D
The first time I saw Blondie and Clem walked onstage, sat at his kit and started playing "Dreaming", I started to cry. I've met Clem a couple of times and he is as calm and laid back as this documentary shows.
Right - when I first heard "Dreaming" in the studio version, I thought the drumming sounded cool, but no way was it a human, had to be a machine. Then I saw Clem playing the song live (on video) and realized "Yes, he's really doing it, he's really that great". And on top of that, Clem was/is such a showman spinning his drumsticks like Dino Danelli (who may have been an influence, given Clem's New Jersey roots).
I learned how to play the drums at 12 in 1976 with a Kiss Destroyer album, and a used red sparkle 3 piece Slingerland with Zildjian cymbals I got for my birthday. But it was playing to Blondie where I learned how to be a diversified drummer. Playing beside huge speakers, and a record player. I credit Clem Burke as being one of my biggest influences. He subscribed to the Keith Moon philosophy. Keep it mixed up stupid, lol. Thank you Clem.
Wow...Ive been a Blondie fan since 78 and I always thought Clems drumming was/is phenomenal. Ive never seen Blondie live but i plan on it next time they come to LA.
I was lucky enough to see Clem at Shepherds Bush Empire playing with Bootleg Blondie, I was in the front row and was just transfixed on Clems drumming...a master at his craft, he's right up there, one of the best
That was great! I’ve always loved this guy. Met him back in early 80s at CBs where my best bud was in the house band and he was a sweet guy. Love his playing, hist story and his attitude. Great doc!
Seen Clem with Blondie, seen Clem with The Split Squad, seeing Clem twice this year in Leeds at the Brudenell in Leeds. Awesome. He is the best drummer in the world.
Absolute LEGEND, Clem!!! "Dreaming," you've made impossible for the rest of us to catch up!! Whenever anyone asks me who my favorite drummer, before, within and after, I chant "CLEM! CLEM! CLEM!" AND O never knew that Clem is a lefty on a righty kit...as one myself, people disregard just how difficult it is. TRUST ME. Great video, thanks for posting!
This band, was an enormous part of my teenage years, they felt like family to me thru their music. Never got to see them live, a huge regret for me, saw Debs solo.
He's such a solid drummer, but he also puts fills and licks in that are extremely catchy, like the song wouldn't sound the same without them. Their live versions of songs don't disappoint; all those catchy notes are there. Speaking of live, if you're eyes aren't on Debbie, they are on Clem - the guy is a powerhouse and so fun to watch.
If you want to know what it’s like to have infinite passion because you are doing what you love, watch this video. Clem has the same level of intensity, energy, drive, and fun doing what he loves as when he started out. He’s a lucky man.
Clem has that flair that the late, great Dino Danelli had... deceptively complex but a real master craftsman. Essential to give a band that X Ingredient.
He's just....cool. Anytime I think of all the asshats in the industry that I have met, I then remind myself that I met Clem for just 60 seconds, and he could not have been a cooler dude. I'm not even a big Blondie fan, really. I just dig his style and his attitude. Plus he played with the Ramones, simply just because. How cool is that?
Love the guy. But this vid reminds me of an ad for an upcoming Netflix series! I don't think there's a clip or spoken quote longer than 3 seconds in the whole thing - it starts to feel like relentless promotion. :^/ Which is too bad, cuz he's interesting enough for some more in-depth, thoughtful content.
He’s a great drummer but I do hear a lot of Keith Moon in his drumming. And that is the highest possible compliment that I can pay him because to my mind Moon was the ultimate Rock and Roll drummer.
I can’t believe there was no mention of the Heartbreakers, I mean they mentioned all the trendy bands of the day. Not one reach around to the band that started it all. Clem is on record as saying that L.A.M.F is one of the greatest albums of all time and that Jerry Nolan is his idol.
Guy sitting up behind Clem on the Dreaming video with big blonde quiff looks like Brian Setzer, but i thin he'd of been in England getting the Stray Cats up and running. The Cars, Blondie, Tom Petty, R.E.M all American bands who we 'got' them, due in part to the youth groups in England, punks, skins, mods, teddy boys, rockabilly, new romantic, goth, post punk, all leant to the Brits getting certain bands before the U.S. Its like the Sones and other 'British Invasion" bands turned them onto their own blues music. They Remones 'may' of invented punk, but it was the UK bands sold it with the look and attitude for the same reason as above, and of course touring England was a lot easier coz its a smaller country, but pretty violent in those days, especially if you dressed different and looked different you could easily get in a scrap.
And here I was thinking the screens were pure rock and roll because Clem must have accidentally hit Debbie with a wayward drum stick during one of the shows.
“The cymbals get into everything.” Bullshit! Everybody knows that drummers must be kept in their kennel for their own safety, and everybody else’s too.
CBGBs IS A DUMP.. I had heard so much about it, I visted it in 2000, and was accepting of it, but after hearing what people said about max,s Kansas city.. I believed what people said about CBGB,s after Max's owner had to sell the joint to pay for his gambling debt.. The magic was gone when I arrived, but what I heard of the village in those days, this was not somewhere you wanted to live unless you were aware of what was going on there.. I survived in 2000 while in New york on $20k.. These guys were loving at a tim when the rent was nonexistent.. Maybe why people populate village at all is cause of the outcasts on this side of manhattan in the 70s.. They can tell you it was a great time to be an artist, but artists dont make much, and all that keepsyou going is will power and fear..
Thanks, Clem, for your style, drumming influence and overall attitude towards music, life and mentality. We appreciate you !❤
Much respect to Clem Burke. One of the most versatile, talented, hardworking drummers in rock! Incredible musician!
Multi multi talented and DAMN CUTE.
Absolutely my favourite drummer ever..
Yeah! This was excellent. Clem is among the top ten drummers in Rock!
Clem Burke is the most awesome drummer I've ever seen and heard!!! ❤
My favourite drummer in my all-time favourite band. I am a diehard fan from the age of 8 and, even though I got ridiculed for it through my teens in school, I never wavered in my love of all things Blondie.

Clem Burke is my very favourite drummer on the whole planet.
He's electrifying!!!

I'M also a drum head and l have ALWAYS admired Clem..for being a dynamic drum playing artist! A shining example to us ALL! 💪👍
Loved this! Thank you Clem! 🥁 😎
A drummer's drummer! A truly gifted and talented musician!
I have admired this man for years, thank you for this great documentary.
Couple of years ago Clem played a tiny venue in York, a pub with a 6 inch stage, rock and roll hey.
I learned how to play the drums at 12 in 1976 with a Kiss Destroyer album, and a used red sparkle 3 piece Slingerland with Zildjian cymbals I got for my birthday. Thank YOU!
Been in love with Clems drumming for 45 years, Union city still my absolute favourite song ever.
Huge fan of his playing..
Seen Clem with Blondie, seen Clem with The Split Squad, seeing Clem twice this year in Leeds at the Brudenell in Leeds. Awesome. He is the best drummer in the world.
Definitely one of my biggest influences ❤

2024: Been lovin' this man's sound for something like forty-four(??!!) years now and honestly can't wait for a new Blondie album!
..... what can you say? .. Clem Burke on drums and Debbie Harry up front on vocals.😮😍. Thank you God , thank you so much 🙏
This band, was an enormous part of my teenage years, they felt like family to me thru their music. Never got to see them live, a huge regret for me, saw Debs solo.

I'm pretty sure I've seen this before, but Imma watch it again.
The very first time I saw clem playing drums back in 1977 or 78. Right there and then I knew I had to play drums. ❤
Huge respect for this man.
Two me the two best Drummer's is Clem and the Late Neal Peart!!
If you want to know what it’s like to have infinite passion because you are doing what you love, watch this video. Clem has the same level of intensity, energy, drive, and fun doing what he loves as when he started out. He’s a lucky man.
Blondie has a front person and a back person, Debbie and Clem. Rock on!
Love ya Clem you’re our Magician thank you
A great drummer and top bloke too
What a wonderful documentary on a founding member of punk rock/new wave. Long overdue for a great New Yorker.
Clem has that flair that the late, great Dino Danelli had... deceptively complex but a real master craftsman. Essential to give a band that X Ingredient.
One of the best! And Premier to boot!
He's just....cool.

Plus he played with the Ramones, simply just because. How cool is that?
The BEST!

He is the best
Met him at Bowery Electric super good guy

If you took a bit of every great drummer. And put it all together in one. You would have Clem Burke.

He's up there with Neil Peart 'Rush' both amazing

Great Drummer, but he knows that
He's a Mod. :0)

"Michelle"
Brilliant drummer. Terrible video. How many times can you move to a comment from someone else in 20 seconds. Appalling editing.
Would have liked for him to have done something charitable with underprivileged kids.
47 minutes of self praise.... I liked him more before I saw this video.... it got nauseating.
I agree. This video reminds me of why I seldom want to learn anything about rock musicians other than their music.
The coolest person...eva.
Clem!
