      Not would, but definitely could. Just restocked on wedges in October. That grind does look a lot like my 58 degree S23 X-grind that I love, just with a bit more welcoming surface area. Just like the one in your video, it hardly raises the leading edge when opened fully

    Just tried out a 50* CBX Fullface 2 today. On a full shot with a titleist AVX it went as straight as a dart landed past the pin and ripped back 15 feet, with wind behind. yowzer😮 As you saw too, half my ball was still stuck in the grooves 😬

      I'm thinking about a CBX in 50 and 54 and a bladed 58. Do you think the CBX has enough spin for a 54° wedge?

    Apart from the pitching wedge and gap wedge that came with my set I only use a Cleveland cbx full face 2 56 degree wedge. It is so easy to play a wide variety of shots with I don’t need a lob wedge. Having less wedges has improved my short game. Another great review 👍

    Great review. I’ve only owned and played one sand wedge in my life. It’s a Wilson Staff 56 degree with 10 degree of bounce. However, a few months ago I acquired a Cleveland 588 RS Recovery Sole 60 degree wedge. I only had a few weeks to practice with it before winter set in. My early impression of this wedge is very positive. It is very easy to play a flop shot with this wedge. It feels like 13:42 you can hit it up an elevator shaft. It stops, not on a dime, but very quickly.

    I’d never had a short game aside from my putting. I’d tried most things - Callaway, various Cleveland’s etc nothing felt any good or worked. Then last year, playing with my son and having another short game mare, he passed me one of his Vokey’s…oh blimey, suddenly I was landing on the dance floor and getting close. I could feel where the head was during the swing and my confidence grew. I think it might be their heavier swing weights, but whatever it is I got it. I’ve now a set of SM9’s. I’m sure these Cleveland’s are great if you have a decent short game, but for those of us that don’t, Vokey’s are hard to beat.

    If partial shots show bits of ball flaking on the grooves, I feel a fuller type shot could inflict some significant damage on your golf ball. The high spin grooves could also limit your ability on bump and runs or other shots requiring lower spin such as bump and runs which a well rounded 54 degree should be able to do. I applaud Cleveland for all the features of the 54 of my dreams but I have a hard time getting past the damage and limitation aspects of these grooves at this point.

    Always love Cleveland wedges started with the 588 in black.
    Right now,I game a set of TaylorMade ftx (2012). But thinking about getting a new set, as they're not conforming anymore.
    I also had blacked out 52* Willson at one point, that one was crazy spinny with boxed grooves back in the days.
    However, every time you say: Come here, look at these grooves, or this shape, or something like that, the image is either out of focus, or over saturated, so I really have no clue how the face looks up close. 😂
    Anyway, I'll definately look into these (hopefully they'll do a blacked out version of these).

    I bought the previous model RTX Zipcore full face 56 degree for $50 off. I play a set Pitching wedge and a 56 only. Takes the decisions out of play for the most part. I can't speak for the wedge yet, but it looks good to my eye, and forgiving.

    • @iLovettGolf
      @iLovettGolf 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      GAP wedge is my go-to short club, and far superior at pitching into the wind than a 56 yet far superior over a hazard/onto a downslope than a PW… highly recommend getting involved to lower score (and those shots are fun as well) ❤ if you get a different bounce to your SW it will add turf condition playability as well (one will be better in the rough & if it’s wet / one better on tight lies / hard ground) if you’re good with distance control with your current setup anyway (I assume you are) then an additional option will tighten your dispersion nicely and you will get up and down more often 🎉

  • @mattrichards3070
    @mattrichards3070 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I honestly think high toe wedges are a gimmick, how often is your ball getting anywhere near those grooves? Never like to be negative on TH-cam comments, and I love your honesty on the reviews, but every single new wedge spins fresh out the box, and will rip the skin off the ball… the real test is what they do after a few rounds, so maybe come back to this test 👀 Cleveland make great wedges though.

  • @iainmmorrison1
    @iainmmorrison1 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    As far as I am aware the grooves on any wedge play no part in the spin imparted on the ball during a bunker shot as there is a cushion of sand between the club face and the ball when it is struck. I was always under the impression that technique, lie, bounce, sand type and ball construction were the factors that influenced spin on a bunker shot. I often see TH-cam videos where it is suggested or implied that the groove technology has an effect on the bunker shot, though not implicitly in this video. Is this the case or am I missing something?

    Every pro in early 90's roumded out their bag with the Cleveland Tour Action 588 wedges. ERNIE was their main star. He still plays with their wedges then Callaway came along and other big brands like Titleist started to edge Cleveland out of the market. imho Taylormade make the best wedges and Woods and Ping and Callaway make the best irons. For some reason Ive never wanted to play with Titleist wedges although they are very good. I play Yamaha woods and irons now and will never give up my Taylormade Hi Toe 3's hamds down the best wedges ive ever had. But yeah, this was a great review and this wedge is awesome.
