  • Mike Meyer is a sign painter from Minnesota who is widely recognized as one of the masters of the craft. Together with Spain-based sign painting expert Sam Roberts, Mike runs Better Letters, which promotes sign painting internationally through workshops and educational activities. With over 30 years in the trade there isn’t much that Mike Meyer hasn’t painted, or painted on, but he’s always open to new and exciting ventures in the sign game. Mike was profiled in the Sign Painters film and book, and his work has been recognized by the Type Directors Club. In his own words, “Nothing can replace the ‘power’ of what a brush in your hand can produce."

How did you know I needed some confidence with my painting abilities. Appreciate the gift of confidence and knowledge, thank you. 😊

Letter painting can be daunting - It does boil down to confidence to some extent... I like that Mike, "I remember what is was like etc - I can help you"
    That's a great teacher right there. ✊

dude is experienced. I know cuz his letters have the right proportions, the thicks and thins/up and downstrokes have the correct weights, and the spacing between each letter is consistent. also the letters are smooth and not painted janky when going super slow, and letters look almost identical.

I've had a sign painting book by Mike Meyer since last Christmas but was focusing on pinstriping. I'm very ecstatic to see this video now that I'm ready to continue my painting journey!!

Does no one use a string chalk line to snap lines any more? Back in '77 starting my apprenticeship we had to snap lines rather than use a ruler.

Your back is obscuring what you are doing & the camera is at an angle 00so the student is struggling to see what you are showing us !
