Thanks for this. I love the groaning drone of the Wessies. I was shocked to learn that modern speedway engines make up to 80bhp and rev to 11k! My old Wessy would maybe do 7k on a good day and make 65bhp. That was enough for me. I just can't imagine 80bhp....
They are very peaky though. Lots of top end but less low end torque. Apparently this makes them harder to control although I must admit I've not ridden either.
I saw him a few times at Mildenhall. Once in front, he had a knack of being right in the way to make it very difficult to pass. Tom was almost as good. Very frustrating but 100% fair.
Heat 6 re-run in the final, just one of my favourite races ever! Watched it as a kid 100s of times on an old VHS! Speedway at it's very finest!

Pendlebury should never have been excluded, didn't the ref have 2 dozen camera angles to look at lol!!!! Joe Owen, always sheer class.
Unlikely. They probably never had the TV camera, just their 1 view from the box. It is the best place in the stadium, but not perfect for everywhere.
