The clip at Coventry with Gollob and the yellow lights: Those lights were around the track for use by the stock cars that also raced at Coventry to signal caution periods, and I believe they were also used to signal the two minute warning for speedway heats (as opposed to just one light at the start line and one in the pits). I can only assume the referee left the two minute warning on when the race started.

Worked for penhall company in 2003 to 2013 as a flat saw operator on the freeway and iwas hit by a stolen car on the freeway iwas lucky idid not even see the car until it hit me i still think of that day rip coner 81 will never be forgotten God bless you and your family 🙏✨️

My first ever speedway meeting that I attended, what a baptism. Sadly we won’t see the likes of this again unfortunately.

Charlie Webster & Suzi Perry both new their stuff. I was at Wembley when Briggs lost a finger after an horrendous crash. Loram was a great rider but my two top English riders are still PC & KC.

How come the race wasn't stopped in heat 4, with Mauger still on the track? A bit careless from the referee, this could've been dangerous. I know Wembley was a wide circuit, but still Mauger could've been seriously hurt here.

Poor old DJ, had to be the most unluckiest rider ever. I was totally against the GP format when it was first introduced. But now I see it as a much fairer way of deciding a World Champion. One EF, or X on the night of the final would've robbed you of being World Champion as it proved in Dave's case. I think DJ would've won a World Final under the current GP format, had it been in place then.

That's Kenneth Williams in the yellow helmet and Felicity Kendall in the white during the filming of Give us a Clue. That's all i know.

just so many tracks in those days, and so many speedway riders. lot of of people sadly lost to the sport now, in so many ways.

Great to see footage of Woffy Snr. We only had him for a season or two at Middlesbrough in the 80s, but he was very popular and an entertainer on and off the track.

Sudden Sam was one of the greatest team riders of all time IMO … In saying that in this race they were going so bloody slow that Leigh Adams had every opportunity to just blitz the pair of them.
