If the goal is to get all the souls out of the Maw and keep them from suffering any more than they have to, then that would be accomplished a lot quicker if there wasn't just *one person* doing it. If it's only Sylvanas down there then having her work alone is fine if you want her to suffer for a longer time, but making countless innocent nelf souls keep suffering because Tyrande wants Sylvanas to really suffer is losing sight of what's really important, isn't it? So yeah, the kyrians ought to be pitching in as well.

But that whole shtick of only her doing it? With countless souls in there now, all of which shouldn't be because of the broken arbiter beforehand? That's just going to take way longer than needed.

The logistics seems impossible for sylvanas:
-Do they have a head count?
-Do each person sent to the maw has an unique ID, cause and date of death?
-How is she going to know who she sent and who she did not sent?
-how is she making souls in the maw follow her?
-Is she going to carry every single soul there to another place, pile them up, them have them judged one by one, and then sent them to whatever afterlife they deserve? Cause she needs to empty the maw before returning anyone or she won't know who was already judged.
-What about people that died on the maw killed by the player or have their souls put on the player's conduit?

Will this have implications, in game, for Sylvanas and her Forsaken? I've always been a Forsaken fan and their grim, bitter-sweet backstories, and how they don't quite fit into the rest of the world, especially after Arthas left all the dead behind in his destructive wake in/after WC3.

The end of the expansion. Sylvanas will go to the Maw, and save only a few souls from oblivion, while her main focus will be to find Nathanos. Then she will come back to Azeroth, even though most of the souls faded to oblivion. They should have turned Sylvanas's soul to soul ash.
The smart way was to send Sylvanas to oblivion and tell the freaking covenants to do their jobs and grab every soul from the Maw.

Only for a while? For such monumental crimes, punished in the land of dead to deliver souls to justice... this sounds like it should be eternal job. Becoming the Charon of Shadowlands. It's supposed to be punishment in the land of ethernals, not a community service...
And if she was killed, the beauty of the Shadowlands is that it would actually not be a mercy, she could be punished forever even after that.

Sylvanas got ruined so hard in the past years. i am so incredibly sad, mad and triggered. I still like her - and probably will always like her - she did not deserve to be destroyed so hard since WC days.... She was who initially brought me to show interest and playing World of Warcraft. I can't stand the shitshow of story developments, plotholes, hypocrisy here and there, people being judged, others getting away scott free.... I really don't know what these past years meant to accomplish. All i know is that one of the most iconic characters - still enjoyed by a considerable amount of players - is being benched indefinite just like with illidan before and so will the game become less interesting. The horde is a mess, the forsaken will never really accept a new leader forced and shoved into their faces - at least lots of the playerbase, Sylvanas traces from the Forsaken NPCs seems to be getting deleted or minimalized as we progress now - which is utterly disgusting in itself, The Alliance is completely boring to me, they always get the moral highground, Tyrande is a raging b*tich, Jaina is annoying, the faction pride of the horde has been attacked again and agian... This whole game has become SUCH A FKN MESS.

  • @brynphillips9957
    @brynphillips9957 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

It disappoints me that they have had to resort to books again for their story to make any sense but it is what it is. I have always felt that if they can turn WoW around I would give it another go. That said, it is still a long way off from being appealing enough for me to try again, particularly with the other options for games to play currently.
I get the feeling sometimes that Alliance players envy the horde's 'drama'. I feel though it kind of is a 'grass is greener' viewpoint. I have always felt that all players have a faction bias, even if they play and like both sides. There is always one faction's viewpoint they feel more in line with. For me as one for who that was the Horde, the 'drama' has basically been watching my faction's identity get screwed over and characters I liked feel ruined since pretty much Cata when, in Metzen's words, they decided to 'give the horde back it's fangs'. As Horde player they made me feel contempt for my own faction and forced me to support actions that were jarringly out of sync with the 'hero' image they kept trying to put on my character. Hell, we basically went though everything in MoP only to repeat the same damn mistakes two expansions later, destroying any really value to the original 'redemption' arc the horde had rushed for them in MoP, and this time the rebellion only really was successful because Sylvanas said mean things about the horde. That isn't the kind of 'drama' I think Alliance players really want.
Sadly, the fact that the horde feels so ruined to me at this point is probably yet another thing putting me off WoW. Frankly I suspect the most likely kind of content to spark my interest would be one where the factions pretty much sat out events.

I have my own headcanon for the metaphysics of what we learned in Shadowlands, I’ll basically just replace what Blizzard did with my own. It fits well enough that it shouldn’t contradict any story going forward. I also have my own preferred concept for the motivation of the Jailer and Sylvanas, and it’s consistent with where we ended up. It was a very, very bumpy road, but patching up those things I think we’re in a decent position to move forward onto interesting stories that feel like Warcraft. I hope they scale back from “epic moment fixation” and try to just develop some of what we already have.

  • @JC-ok4yx

They've just dropped the ball on the narrative all the way around. They could have added a dialogue between Uther and anyone else saying, "Just as we all grow stronger and change through difficult times, what would our younger selves think about who we are now? Would it change anything we've done, would it bring anyone peace?"
See, it would have a triple and quadruple meaning for him because of everything that happened while he was living, but then also that he threw Arthas' soul into the maw. It would also clarify that sylvanas' split soul wasn't that a part of her was taken away, or good/evil sides of her. It wasn't that part of her soul was taken, but her innocence and hope. What changed her was that she was defeated, traumatized, and forced into serving the Lich King. When she was "freed" from his control she was then being controlled by her trauma. It would actually be a good story...if they told it that way. Instead they didn't.
It's so easy that I still can't believe they missed it.
