    3:02 This fooled me for a long time as well. As far as I understand, it's because our brains aren't designed to take into account all the different perspective changes; driving in a car alone creates a perspective shift beyond our intuitive comprehension, and having the plane move very quickly in the opposite direction against a featureless sky not only adds to the intuitive confusion, but it also means that there's not much of a reference to begin with. All this adds up to the illusion that the plane is frozen mid-air.

    • @ebreshea
      @ebreshea 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There is something to judge it against, though, which is the trees below it. It's just that it happens to line up such that the car, moving relatively slowly, closer to the trees, creates almost the same parallax as the plane moving very fast, but further from the trees, in the opposite direction.

    The reason why the "water vortex" is the fastest way to empty a bottle is because if you do it normally, water comes out, but then air needs to come back in to fill the "void", which pushes the water back. Which is why you see the bottle empty in "bursts" so to speak. This stops the momentum and slows the emptying.
    If you create the water vortex, it leave the middle for air to come in, and the sides for water to flow out unimpeded.
    The more you know. *insert logo here*

      @@Paul-zk2tn If you have a straw handy, possibly. But you need to get it, and then manually hold it in place, which is a lot of effort to empty a bottle, rather than give it a few twirls and you're done.

      There, inserted the logo for you 😉

    • @homelessrobot
      @homelessrobot 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Paul-zk2tn depends on the diameter of the straw. And to boot, whether or not the water vortex is faster depends on the size of the bottle's opening (its much faster to just turn a bucket of water over than to try to swirl it), and the size of the vortex at the opening. If the inner width of the vortex (the air part) is not identical to the outer width (the water) then there will still be negative pressure in the bottle that the water has to overcome to leave, and this will slow it down.

    1:43 I'm pretty sure that's a sobreiro (that's the name in Portuguese, I really don't know the translation). We have tons of those in Portugal. It happens that around the wood there's a material (again, Idk the translation) that you use to make corks and such. That material is pretty good to isolate fire because it's more of less fireproof. That goes to protect the tree as well. What might've happened here is that the tree had some of it's wood exposed beneath the cork-maker (Imma just use that term) and that caught fire. The tree burned inside but the cork-maker, being fireproof, didn't catch fire along with the wood.
    Also, the one about "slow motion water" was probably oil. Petroleum? Idk, you English speakers swapped all the words and it's a mess to translate it.

    8:30 I agree completely with Rev Chris. I'm not Christian, nor do I follow any religion, but I do believe in a higher power. I believe there are ways to open yourself up to more things, but without the proper understanding you open yourself up to things that you do not want to open yourself up to. You may feel like you have the most understanding of things, but at the end of the day we all know nothing. You may feel as though you understand it all, but you maybe only understand less than 5% max, if even that much. I believe in energies, dimensions, realms, whatever you want to call them, but by opening yourself up to them it would be the equivalence of traveling to a new country where you understand very little about the rules, the laws, the culture, the traditions.
    It's best to avoid them, as you will never understand it fully and opening yourself up to it will only lead to bad things happening.

    As an Indonesian, black magic is already a part of our culture and as someone that already experience exorcist and depression, i do believe it's exist. Depression and possessed in my experience are different. Depression make you feel empty, anxious, thrash hoarder, lazy (idk but i just didn't like to do anything) and crying and suicidal but possessed by evil spirit make you fear and blank, suicidal(idk but i did (always) imagine myself run through the road and die and happy with that though) and you do realize it unconsciously that something is wrong. Depression can be solved by socializing with your love one, going out or anti depressant but possessed can't. I can't even think about anything lol, i felt like an idiot because even i can't understand what were people said to me. I felt constant tired and i can't straightening my back like an old lady. The most terrifying from being possessed was i knew that snake crawl in my bed every night before it got in my back. After exorcist, i never felt more alive than ever lol.

    Just so you know the bouncing of the bubble "on the laser" is actually a fun fake video where they contacted the creator and he explained that they used this nylon string (if i recall correctly, a fishing line) and just kept the laser towards the string and also in tension the whole time. I want to say it came up in a CorridorCrew 'VFX Artists React" video at some point where they broke it down in detail. The water turning to ice when being poured in the bottle can be explained by the fact that the water is "supercooled". Basically, the water is below 0 degrees C but because the water is pure aka no dissolved substances in it, there are no nucleation sites for the ice to start forming, so it remains liquid. However, by introducing agitation such as by pouring it into another bottle, you form microscopic bubbles that act as nucleation sites, and therefore, the water turns to ice instantly.

    The brain truly is a freaky thing. I have a rare condition called Visual Snow. Essentially the brain is misinterpreting light coming through the fluid at the back of your eye. People have different forms of it - usually described as static like an old tv - but for me and some others I see millions of tiny black and white dots or fine hairs flying around or on white walls, especially when I am tired. Very freaky, I hate it. When I first go it I was on the phone and looked out the window - it was nighttime and in June - and exclaimed "Oh my God, it is snowing!!!" The person on the phone had no idea what I was talking about. It is hard when you can't trust your brain entirely.

    The aeroplane one is a perspective trick; the car and the plane are travelling in opposite directions (i.e. 'away' from each other,) and the plane is obviously going much faster than the car, but it's also way higher up in the sky than the car, so appears to be moving much slower, to the point where it looks like it's stopping alongside the car. And the car is travelling at just the right speed to maintain this illusion; if it were to go any slower, the plane would start to look like it's moving forwards again.

    9:09 that's more like cold water than a cold bottle. usually when water's temp gets lower than 0 degrees celsius it freezes, but if you do that with extra pure clean water and keep it very still, it can stay liquid under it's normal freezing point. Then when you pour it(give the extra cold water impact) it freezes instantly. Water's heat capacity is rather high so even if the bottle is super cold, it wouldn't do that.

    I live near the SF airport. I've seen what appears to be frozen planes.
    I am a pilot. I'm guessing there is a headwind (causing the plane to move more slowly over the ground while keeping up airspeed), the plane is a larger one and it is about 1/2 mile away. All this combined makes the movement across our visional field slower. Like when far away things seem slower, and the same thing going the same speed closer seems faster.
