Who could want anything more than a lovely woman and a river full of fish out the back door? Mister you got yourself a gold mine right there. Thanks for the tips.
Awesome video! I think I have had sucker before years ago . My dad started taking me to some of the beautiful spring-fed ozark streams here in Missouri when I was about 5. Dad still talks about how I ate a giant plate of fried Large Mouth Bass and goggle eye (very tasty) I am 30 now and still fish these streams and ponds for bass but I just throw them back to get bigger. I have seen some giant suckers in them crystal clear streams.
Thank you for that kinda video,I’m sitting here on a tributary of the Kanawha River here in Central West Virginia…Watching my poles as I write this from my Rv Window and imma try some suckers…been catching some really nice ones, was watching videos to see how to clean and such and the scoring that you did really made sense and imma def do it like you showed us and I’m really excited….I’ve subscribed to your channel and will def let y’all know how it goes…lol…Thanks again Buddy,Much Appreciated!!!
When I was a little shaver, my favorite fish to eat was the white sucker. They were very hard to catch in the trout streams on the eastern slope of the Appalachians in Pennsylvania. Delicious.
I tried it with a redhorse a couple years ago, but I skinned it and scored both sides at opposite angles. Still had bones, i guess the best part of not getting it right is trying again! Delicious fish though, thanks for taking us along!!!
Man, it’s been a long time since I’ve done this. Suckers out of cold water early in the spring are the best. I’ve never used a hook like yours before, I use a regular treble hook the same size as yours and put a large weight about two ft from the hook, then a second person chases the fish over the hook (or with a little patience they will eventually swim over the hook).
Looks great! Cook small carp the same way too. Cook down all the Y- bones. Probably could do it with pike as well. Never tried that. First time seeing your videos, Thank you!
Thanks. Great video. Our northeast culture considers these types of fish as trash fish. Some idiots even toss them on the bank to die. Ive always had fun catching them, good to see that they are good to eat as well.
I had sucker before came Little Vermillion .Were sweet tasting but the bones like you said .Next time I catch some, will try your way to cook.good luck.
Oh yeah! Down here in NW Florida we bait suckers up starting in October and they are a blast to catch and great table fair! Then from January to about mid April we have a gigging season. When suckers run up small creeks to spawn. But my friend....I hope you didn't throw those back bones away! No gashing\scoring to do.....just cut into about your size....fry em up and eat right off the bone and just leaves you a Flintstones hair comb...lol
Love to grind up Red Sucker or any Sucker ground up or minced with Beaten Egg, Onion, Corn Meal Salt and Pepper to make Fish Cakes for breakfast...Bones won't get in Your way at all in this cooking. ...Served up with Tomato Gravy, Sorghum Syrup, Scrambled Eggs and Grits with Scrambled Eggs for Breakfast is served Bank Side up and down The Choctawhatchee River in South Alabama !
Sir is that a red horse sucker? Sir I'm new to your channel and I'm loving all that your doing keep it up. Till the next's one GodBless and Tight Lines
Yes friend, that was a red horse sucker…the white honey suckers are chrome-silver white with pink fillets…and very good eating-and a little less bones, too….👍👍👍👍👍👍
Suckers around here don't have scales like that....that looks more like a carp( to me) with those big scales....maybe it's different up here...I fish northern Lake Superior and it's tributaries, and alot of species of fish look different here then other parts of Canada\U.S because of the really cold water and the fatty\greasy smelts that are a big part of their diet.
You are the racist because anyone could pick cotton and a cotton picker is also a pain in the ass machine used to pick it and they are notorious for being a PITA, PITA.

Never fried them before. Going to have to try it. Up here in northern Minnesota we mostly smoke and pickle them.
My home town is Van Buren Mo and sucker fishing is number 1 fishing there, snagging, gigging or just worm fishing 👍😋
Thank you for posting this video I'm going to give this a try

Suckers in my opinion taste better than any other fish. I am in southeast Missouri, great video
watching fishing videos with my 3 year old and stumbled here. Couldnt help but subscribe.
Wondering how you could eat suckers. Always pressured cook mine for fish patties. Great to see another way to cook them. Looks good 👍

Great video, thanks 👍
You left the best part on the fish, ribs !!!!!!!
I did not know you could eat those. The way you made them was genius. I like our teaching style.
My cousin would presure cook them and can them. Then the bones would turn to soft mush. Like salmon in the can.

That sounds tasty.
Spearing them with bullfrog gigs is fun too….. we used to hike the river at night with lanterns and a backpack full of beer and spear them all night.

Harvest and Freeze Wild Muscadine Grapes during Summer and use 'em for Bait When The Suckers go to runnin' in The Spring. Works !

Grind them up and make fish cakes that’s how the old timers eat them

Definitely a sucker. Had it been a carp...now that's a different story.
@ G N P Look different here THAN other parts
That's a CARP.
I love red mushrooms and I love sucker, redhorse, hogmolly too. Just the way you do it. Also fix my carp and Buffalo that way. Great video
Is it right? You are snagging them?
اتمنى صداقتك انا صياد سمك مثلك
That method would cost you big bucks in fines in Michigan.
WHATS YOUR BREADING?
I use Zaterans. I pick it up at Sam's club by the gallon it's like $7 well worth it.
that's illegal in michigan.
This not called fishing
Those fish are awful to eat!!!!
That's a Trump fish, same mouth.
That is a carp
Racist! bro said got mad that he lost the first one and said cotton picker under his breath
You are the racist because anyone could pick cotton and a cotton picker is also a pain in the ass machine used to pick it and they are notorious for being a PITA, PITA.
Everything's RAYCYST!!😂😂
My dad was a cotton picker and proud of it. Not racist.
