That and panicking is what's likely going to get me rejected from Imperial and Cambridge. Its annoying that mistakes - something unrepresentative of your ability - can be so decisive in your future.
The best tip for silly mistake is leave 5 min at the end to go back and read over all your answer it helped me because then i had finished and i was less stressed
As a current student of A Level Maths & Further Maths, this is such good and concise video, Jake! Excelling at math is "simple": practice makes perfect.
Practice is definitely everything in maths. I used to lose marks for silly mistakes, but then i started doing 2 papers per day in the last few months bfore a level exams. And it was worth doing, i was able to get my A* with all 1s❤️amazing video as usual Jake! 👌😍
Yes you can surely do that. It depends on you actually. In my case i did 2 papers per day, because i wanted a distinction in it and wanted to be ranked in it in my country. But 2 hours revision every 2 to 3 days is absolutely fine! Good luck for your exams❤️
Idk about revision cards tbh. I think past paper questions are definitely my favourite method. You develope intuition which is always good for maths problems. I definitely need to look over what i did wrong rrather than get frustrated that i didnt get a question right. I think your right about the stupid mistakes. In a lot of end of topic tests in year 12 i made so many stupid mistakes. The problem is you need to realise you're wrong rather then just assuming you were right the first time.
study smart not hard ! review ur notes everyday ! only takes 1 -2 hrs . rewrite notes as well ! helps me soo much ! i sleep very well and only review for 1-2 hr before exams and i do well !
Great advice mate I made an advice video for gcse and a level maths on my channel back in September this year. Really good video. Just to add its practice practice practice.
honestly istg most of the time when i personally loose marks is just stupid mistakes which i think r solved from just practicing more and more past papers
Exactly the same for me. I actually never learnt how to properly study because I didn’t need to for my grades and now further maths is absolute hell 😭 Just got to have discipline which I’m working on currently, in the middle of my mocks at the moment and the first further maths paper was definitely a wake up call…..
Hi Jake 👋 loving the content…. I’m currently a GCSE student and wondering if I should take A level further maths as a fourth, is it useful? And does it take a lot more time than 3 A levels?
Hey i do both maths. I think if you are considering a career in STEM at top unis or just STEM in general its worth it. But it is a lot of worth ive been lucky enough to do it is a three alevel coursr so maybe that might be an option aldo
i don’t know whether this is relevant to the A levels you want to do but in the colleges that i have applied too, you can do A level further maths and in the 1st year you do your A level maths and in the second year you do A level further maths. So in this case, the A level further maths in the colleges i’ve applied too, you get two A levels for one. If you get what i mean, and if the colleges supply that course, of course. Sorry if i wasn’t too much help, but that is what the colleges near me do.
If I want to go into aerospace or aeronautical engineering, what a levels should I pick (I was thinking chemistry, physics, maths and further maths, but idk). Also, what r the best top unis for this, UK and abroad maybe?
@@ali.0121 chemistry sort of helps, economics too. I think maths further and physics u should do (further isn’t essential but makes life easier) and fourth id say econ coz it’s easier A*, because chem is vv hard. -.
@@JakeClarke Not really, because flashcards weren’t the only way you revised. I bet if you didn’t use them you still would’ve gotten an A* because they don’t do anything past papers don’t, there is no point using flashcards for maths as you should be getting all the “benefits” of flashcards through doing PPQ. You’re wasting time spent making them and using them, which could be spent elsewhere. Subjects like chemistry I understand the use of them, you cannot derive the colour of the transition metals in the exam that is something you just need to memorise, but maths a lot of the things you need to “commit to memory” can be derived in the exam ie Matrix transformations using a unit square. If someone can’t derive something in the exam, I doubt they understand it enough so it’s unlikely that person would even be getting the application correct in that question. And really come the end of two years in your exam you should be knowing the formula/method for so and so off by heart as you should’ve done enough questions it’s stuck.
Yeah s*x is great, but have you seen my cue cards 🥵 - jc-gcse-revision.company.site
My main reason of losing marks is stupid mistakes and it's actually letting me down big time

Forgot how to complete the square and lost 10 marks lol
From a b/a to a D 😜

How did you find so many papers
@@samstiles7053 i did from 2005 till mar 2021..i did all the variants per paper
Isn’t two paper per day excessive? If I was to do two hours of a level maths revision every 2-3 days do you think that would be alright?

I used to think making cue cards for maths was a stupid thing to do, however after watching this video it doesnt seem like a bad idea

Thank you Jack for this video. Needed this so badly
Imagine not dropping out of Further Maths after doing it for a year.
No reason why I was so specific.
I dropped out of it in 3 weeks
same and i didnt even get to do the AS exam even tho i did it for the whole of year 12 :,)
How comes?
@@damianxavier7343 how comes?
Could there be a better timing for this video? I doubt it 😉🤩
Great video man really helpful tips. Just wondering if the EDEXCEL snap revise cards would be the same spec as WJEC
Ur on a roll with these uploads
Love the tips bro 😍 Even tho im dying from mocks 😂
honestly istg most of the time when i personally loose marks is just stupid mistakes which i think r solved from just practicing more and more past papers
same i lose marks because i put a plus instsad of a minus etc and lose tons of marks in the process
This channel is underrated
Having Jake being 2 years ahead of is extremely helpful 😂
i love mechanics and pure but stats is literally the most boringest thing ever except for probability distributions that was pretty fun
Hey Jake, i just started my a levels this week when do you suggest to start doing past papers for maths?
should have started years ago mate
Agreed with the 3 reasons for losing marks 💯 2:10
everytime i see your videos, i dont think ... i click
A* in Maths, F. Maths, Chem, Bio, Physics gang
Loving these intros ❤️🔥
hey i do AQA a level maths, id love to buy the cue cards, will they still be mostly applicable?
bro great advice 🔥
But... procrastination... 😔
Usually i never needed to revise and i still would get an A and it's now coming back to bite me, uuuuuugghhh

I got about 6 moths left with failing first year grades u think I can still do it 😅
This was super helpful! Thank you 🙏

My exam board for my exams is OCR so will that mean the cue cards won’t be beneficial because they’re edexel
God bless you, Jake
should i make cue cards to use cue cards
what about time management
3 and 2 defo
That's what I did too! 5:05
