  • Is messaging multiple people on a dating app wrong? How about going on first dates with multiple people? How do we navigate the online dating world while staying true to our faith?
Lauren is joined on the sofa by Nneka to talk about the unprinted rulebook of dating online as a Christian.
Comment on whether you would date multiple people at a time
    0:00 - intro
2:13 - what’s in the Christian dating app rulebook?
3:44 - can you date multiple people?
9:29 - when should you commit to one person?
10:20 - how can we navigate all this as Christians?
13:10 - comment whether you would date multiple people at a time
Nneka talks about being open to going on dates with multiple people until she knows whether they have a connection. She challenges Lauren about consulting the Holy Spirit with every swipe.

I think you can date multiple people for like the first 2/3 dates then you have to make a decision as to who you want to take things more seriously with. If you date too many ppl at the same time for a prolonged time multiple ppl are gonna get hurt

I think SALT is designed to be tented to date several people simultaneously.
There should be a feature to put someone on a favorite list to contact later, without liking that person immediately.

I have found and I don't know if it's just me but on another well known but paid Christian dating app if you press the like button the person you liked, never responds!

You don’t need to tell people you are dating others. It depends how along dates you are in. I think if it is first dates it is ok to date a couple of people but I think in interest of keeping focus on that person it is preferred to go one at a time if you can

    I'm with Lauren on this.
    Be prudent and be honest.
And there is one rule we should all know on this matter... "Treat others as you would like to be treated".
Even if you're just meeting for coffee, be conscious that the other person is giving you their time (regardless of who pays etc).
Don't take people's time for granted because someone seeking self gratification can never build a meaningful relationship for two.

It made me chuckle when it was said to 'stop swiping after five matches' and 'swipe swipe swipe and there's like 50 people'. I don't think women appreciate how easy it is for them to get matches. For myself, and lots of other average looking guys, just getting five matches would take at least two months if we are lucky, and even then, it would be off women who don't take any pride in their appearance or ones who just doesn't even bother to reply. If an average looking woman swiped on 50 men, you can bet your bottom dollar that at least 45 of those men would match with her, whereas if an average looking/height man swiped on 50 women, he'd be lucky if 2 of those women matched with him. In my opinion dating apps/social media has destroyed dating and made it really toxic and complicated. Dating these days is so complicated it is like a science.

    • @mrcartoon621

@@be_salt In your opinion, why do you think when women are asked what they look for in a man they only ever list personality traits, when it is clear looks are way more important? Also, a lot of young women these days feel a sense of entitlement for an extremely handsome man, why do you think this is?

    • @mrcartoon621
      @mrcartoon621 2 ปีที่แล้ว

On dating apps, women are looking for the best looking guy. I’ve been on salt myself as an average looking guy who takes pride in my appearance, yet no matches. A friend of mine has had the exact same experience. I decided to test the waters by putting up an experiment profile of a 6ft 5 man with a face like a Disney prince…and guess what, within just two days it had over 70 matches with 30 odd likes still in the like box, along with a list of messages from the women asking him out. Dating apps only work for top tier men. Also, men swipe like on most average looking women, but most women do not swipe like on average looking men, the proof is in the pudding

Yes great video and yes we definitely need to include in every decision and circumstance Holy Spirit after all He is closer than a brother and the One who knows each and every one of us intimately!
After all the Father brought Eve down the aisle to give away to Adam. So He knows best.
Adam was known as Ish in the original language and Eve was Ishah.
Basically meaning "she is just like me, my equal "!

Tricky one! If you haven't met IRL, definitely explore that option first before writing it off. Sexual attraction is really important but can build as you get to know someone. But to find a good heart is so important

I think the hardest part for dating for me, aside from finding someone that clicks, is finding someone who’s saved themselves for the purpose of marriage. That is something I feel extremely uneasy with. Like you’ll be compared or experiences that God wanted you to experience together for the first time with one person for life was sort of tainted beforehand. Giving away what belongs to your future spouse that nobody else has a right to have a part of. I’ve met people I seem to get along with really well and then they say that and it kind of takes away most of my desire to continue towards anything romantic. Probably not a super popular opinion to want that sort of thing though.
