  • Where do we learn our views about sex and relationships? For many it’s Disney and rom coms where the prince fights for his princess or the girls fight for the guy.
Lauren is joined on the sofa by Tega to talk about how movies and media has shaped their view of a ‘perfect’ relationship.
Comment on the films that shaped your thinking

I learned a lot from Bridgerton, I know, but like seriously, if guys you've not watched it - get it!
It's a 50/50 for men for women but there's something we can all learn from it.

Nice vid! Film and TV provide a wildly false expectation of real life.
Controversial comment (but in my view shouldn't be), but will you do a video on same-sex relationships and dating as an affirming/progressive Christian? One of the challenges I find as an affirming Christian (cis/bi in my case) is meeting people who also feel strongly about inclusivity - it's a deal breaker for me. Like, we're too Christian for secular people (because the immediate reaction to calling ourselves Christian is that we're bigots), but not Christian enough for Christians (who frequently see LGBT+ people as inherently sinful). It's a definite niche - I've met some great people through Salt who feel similarly to me and it's a breath of fresh air, but still feels like we're ruling out a huge chunk of the dating pool just by being inclusive!

We can understand the struggle. Personal convictions feel very important to people. We are really hoping to have open conversations about all areas of sex and dating on our channel so watch this space!

It's a bit misleading to label this "personal conviction"
Personal conviction can apply to "eat shrimp/not eat shrimp"
Biblical truths aren't hard to understand, they're hard to accept. They always have been they always will be, but there's mercy and there's grace for our failings
