What a beautiful drive. It reminds me of the Troodos Mountains here in Cyprus. Because Cyprus is such a small island in the winter you can go skiing in the morning and in the afternoon you can then go down for a swim in the sea Thankfully I don't ever get bored as I have lots of hobbies and this year I stared growing vegetables to go with the many fruit trees I have. Thank you for driving us.
That “dead end” is the beginning of a primitive campground that runs along the Rio Ruidoso then as it branches off to the north and south fork. It is on Mescalero Apache Reservation land. We have taken countless trips there. A flood some years back had it closed for I guess about 5 or so years. Then we got to go back for a few years. Then last year Covid forced its closure. Hoping it opens this year. I believe it runs from Memorial day to Labor day or slightly past. Thanks for the ride along!
Rusty, thanks for the tour of the upper canyon. My dad had a vacation home up there back in the 70's and 80's. Had good times up there. In the winter the upper canyon would get very cold !
Rusty, everyday I am watching your videos and others that makes me want to leave my job and travel. I am making plans so I will not have to work and I will have good money coming in.. Am paying off my two debts and in a year I will be taking off for sure.. I truly enjoy traveling with you virtual.. lol
Rusty....I know what you need. You need to drive to the northeast for the summer. Then ride the edge of the great lakes late summer into fall. Make sure you meet up with us in Buffalo/Niagara Falls NY.

We stayed at a creekside cabin on the lower canyon and watching a kid catch trout all of a sudden a bunch of splashing on us looked other direction and a German Shepard running up on us. Yes we squealed and jumped back at first thinking it was a bear! How's that for boring? Haha
Rusty I might have something you might be interested in Ruidoso. One bedroom cabin 106 Mimosa, not sure what your budget is, but might be something. I know it’s not at the edge of town but some mountain around.
Hi Rusty. Nice video. That is my kind of country where the pine forest is. Oregon has the ocean, mountains, fir and pine forests and high plains desert. Temperatures are mild year around.
Nice Drive, Beautiful Area! Nice to see the wild horses, seems like mule deer are all over in that area. The video and audio are excellent today. Sometime, for another place to go, please do a video drive up to Cloudcroft and Sunspot, have a look around!
There is a little fishing area there somewhere in uppercanyon. You have to pay to fish there..I Forget the name...check it out on your map if you get a chance. Another fun adventure.
Hey Rusty, we rented an AirBNB there at Upper Canyon last year and it was absolutely awesome! It had a beautiful deck, gas grill and 3 bedroom house on a hill in the forest and it was only about $1200 for a full 7 day stay…will defiantly go back! Really enjoyed your driving video and recognized many of the great views…Have a great time there in that beautiful state.

There is a cabin resort that my sister and brother-in-law stayed for their honeymoon at Noisy Water Lodge in the 1960s lol

Daughter is buying house in Albuquerque and they are in bidding war. Few homes have been built last 18 month’s.

Great Video Rusty. NM does have state income tax. You seem to enjoy being able to pull up and go. Owning a fixed homestead might limit that.
