@@OurFruitfulFamily I Like the suffolk and Dorphers. Im interested in a wool breed or mix of hair wool breed. Sheep is about the only thing I have never raised on the farm.

STX's DO make good mamas!. I am the farm manager for the University of the Virgin Islands on St. Croix (the ORIGINAL home of the STX's) and we run about 66 full blood STX and 25 STX Dorper crosses. Good mamas, parasite resilient just plain CUTE. Just finished lambing out 65 of the ewes (123 lambs) and talk about cuteness overload! 🙂 (BTW, some of them CAN carry the brown color gene.)

Wow! Thank you so much for watching our video! I may just have to get our information to you to rack your brain if I ever run into issues! I’m sure you’ve seen it all by now with this breed! I’ll bet 123 lambs running around is one sight to see! You should shoot me some images to our email! I would love to see that!

@@OurFruitfulFamily I would love to answer any questions that you might have. Before I managed the farm, I spent 28 years as the Extension Agent/Educator for the Cooperative Extension Service here at the University. Helping new farmers was (is) my job! Where are you located?

It might have been the mom. Sometimes they get aggressive when licking them off. I learned that from Sandi Brock!!!

New subscriber here. Long time wool breed sheep farmer. Watching your experience because I would like to transition to hair sheep and found a breeder of St.Croix near me in Western Washington state. Your new born lamb with the tail seemingly ripped off. Probably from the mother ewe overzealous in cleaning her lamb. We have had that happen a couple times over the years. Use some Triodine disenfectant spray on it, same stuff you should be dipping navels in. Good luck with your new growing flock !

Thank you so much for joining us! That is so interesting about the momma biting the tail. I wouldn’t have guessed that at all haha! We honestly love this breed. They have been everything as expected thus far!!! And boy are those babies cute haha!
