    Your content continues to be fantastic, and now including a comedy partner with that wooly jumper! You deserve a lot more subs, there’s such a variety on this channel.

    Another good vid' Alistair. Someone said to me once, "if you don't want any mechanical problems then don't have any machinery". I'm still trying to work that one out. Nice to see an already nice place, operation, improving all the time.

    Good price for those lambs but would love to see prices closer to $160-180 but $147 is better than last year - have you ever looked into hair sheep? - is it worth doing hair sheep? Would the market pay the price or see them as lesser product and pay less - not paying shearing fees, not having to dag, not having fly strike problems is a plus though - you see the guys in the UK that pay big money for rams but they go in as a group and share the $$ load - I do like the look of the Aussie White (they call it the Wagyu of sheep the way the meat marbles) - can NZ bring in fertilized eggs from Aussie? So you put them into your ewes here?

    • @Connor6569

      I don't think the feet would hold up in the Aussie White.

      @@Connor6569 nice looking sheep - big and muscled for a hair sheep - specifically crossbreed in Aussie for meat - we might have to cross it with the Romney to get the sheep we are wanting - a wee kiwi tweak - 5 generations and you get a new breed and hair sheep make this easy as they cycle every 8 months when it's 12 months for a wool sheep

    • @kiwifarmernz

      We have thought about hair or shedding sheep but aren't ready to change yet. If the carcass yield and growth rates stayed up then they could be an option.
      I think you can bring in eggs or embryos but it's a long process to get them through customs.

    Hey Mate you got rid of the Ned Kelly look. Prefer the full beard instead of the mo look. What does the boss / Genna think? Hey extra $$$$$ for the lambs = new tractor 🚜 😊. Am I missing something or did a few of those lambs go AWOL when you were docking. Hope those new rams haven’t got high jump genetics . I sensed your frustration but it came over quite hilarious when that lamb jumped straight back over. Might have to add another top rail if it keeps occurring. Thanks for the video old Mate 👍

    • @kiwifarmernz

      We left the best lambs untailed as they were destined to go in the first draft, so no risk of fly strike and no tailing growth rate check

    I have just watched a TH-cam video from Ewetube in Ireland selling lambs there. 40kg live weight sold at an auction for $280 NZ, and 30kg for $232. $7.70 per kg while we get not much more than that for prime lambs. Why is there such a huge difference?

    • @kiwifarmernz

      That is well above my pay grade. We NZ Farmers are being taken advantage of.

    • @mra6308

      Supply and demand probably. We have the same population as ireland but we have nearly 7 times the amount of sheep compared to them. Not only that but they can probably sell to the UK without having to pay tarrifs or major import tax on them either so an easy market for them to sell off to.

    • @S_Eglington

      The Irish prices are high because the factories can't import live sheep from the UK due to the bluetongue restrictions.

    • @chrisbird6609

      @@S_Eglington but the same prices are paid in the UK as well

    • @S_Eglington

      @@chrisbird6609 Yes to be honest the Irish are usually complaining that their prices are behind ours. UK prices are high due to lack of supply and continued demand particularly export demand from Europe and the middle east. NZ lamb is usually sold as a cheaper frozen alternative here but it's still hard to understand why your prices are much lower when you're selling into similar markets.
