When we moved to Brooklyn, we went a little past the top of our budget too in order to get the living space we wanted and I am so thankful we did! Home feels like home and a creative place instead of cramped and anxiety inducing. Best decision ever!

Don't worry too much about the cat allergy. I was allergic since I was a child but got over it due to repeated exposure. Recently met my partner's cat and had no reaction. Though you may want to avoid being around more than one because mine now tends to trigger when there is multiple cats. One however seems to be fine.

I live in Korea and I've been tempted to buy it for so long, but my Korean isn't quite at the level to be able to read novels fluently. Figured this would be a great way to build up my reading skills!

Also just bought a German translation of a book that’s referred to as Dollagoot Dream Department Store online but doesn’t have an official English translation yet I believe by Korean author Lee Mi Ye. Currently reading A Wizard‘s Guide to Defensive Baking & Zachary Ying and the Dragon Emperor 😊

A Spindle Splintered and Once and Future Witches are VERY different tonally, I think you'll like Once and Future much better! I also would suggest The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches- it's incredible and exactly what I wanted in a cozy witch book, I liked it much better than Payback's a Witch!

I also adore Robin Hobb, Piranesi, and Love in the Big City, so I am very excited that they are on your TBR! I just ordered I Want To Die But I Want Tteokbokki and I cannot wait to read it, hopefully in September if it arrives in time. And I am hoping to read The Once and Future Witches in October - it has been on my shelves for ages and I would really like to get around to it.
I recommend skipping Payback's a Witch - I DNF'd it at 50% because the three women MCs hadn't had one conversation that wasn't about the guy they'd all dated who had dumped them. Definitely didn't pass the Bechdel Test and I got annoyed. Also, for a supposed romance there really wasn't much of a romance plot happening by halfway through...
I agree. I did end up finishing the first book but DNFed the second, From Bad to Cursed. The setting/town she created was lovely but the characters are just kind of flat and there’s to much split between the plot and the romance and it just doesn’t mesh together nicely and it creates some pacing issues. I was more interested in the gauntlet that was going on and wanted more of it.
