I've bought my Domie back in 1996..i was 20 years old, I still ride it and now I'm 47!! 27 years and still going! SO MANY memories! My next moto is gonna be the Africa twin 750.. But i will NEVER sell my Dominator.. I just love it.
I have a 1988 model, made for the U.S., so it's not called Dominator, just NX650. Excellent motorcycle, it's completely stock and still runs great! Bought it in 2004 and use it almost entirely as a street bike.
very great info. the best i've found so far. I've been looking for old school dual sport as my first bike and the choices were suzuki dr650 or honda nx650. my heart tells me to go for dominator. p.s. great presentation and explanation.
I like the old Hondas as an Alternative to the new expensive ones. There are even more Dominator NX650 vs 690 Enduro Transalp XL600V vs Tenere 700 Transalp has nearly same specs and weight as Tenere if you want / need a two cylinder bike. Honda = so reliable
I like the look of these and would seriously consider one. I had a 1980 XR250 and 1986 XR600 and loved them. But here in NZ there seem to be rare, and when one does come up used it's got 80000 km on it (a good sign!) but the owner wants as much as I paid for a brand new CRF250L Rally (a good deal on the previous year's model). The dominator is more powerful, of course. A lot. Most of the other spec are just about identical ... weight, suspension. Even range -- the Domi has a bigger tank, but it also uses 50% more fuel (carb vs injection). Also I think the Domi has a 3000 km service interval vs 12000 for the Rally (despite the smaller, harder working engine!) thanks to water cooling. Add in mod-cons such as ABS and LED lights... Still, the bikes I'm keeping a lookout for deals on are the Domi, the original XR500, and the KDX200. But the owners of them all ask big money...
As a gentleman to gentleman I can tell you, that I had quite controversial experiences with this bike. I've had one for more then 3 years and it never worked properly, it stalled on idle, had huge oil consumption, easily overheated. I've tried to fix it multiple times with close to zero success. BUT. It was one of the most fun bikes I ever had. And I don't regret not a single cent I spent on this bike.

how much miles it got? Seems like these can go well over 100k

Hondas are great. When I first learned to ride, my motorcycle training course used Honda enduro bikes.
Hi there.
Nice review.
Can you share what fenders you fitted both in the front and in the rear?
Cheers
I love my xr600, I am putting a NX fifth and second gear in it which is a common mod. Your bike looks nice I really like the air cooled Honda engine

Nice looking bike mate. I like the front fender mod and decent off road tyres.

BUT.

sounds like the previous owner sold dying bike to you
@@laius6047 Could be true. Anyways, as simple as this bike looks it can bring up a few surprises. :)
Where are you located?
Where did you buy the front fender?
Great review 👊

Thank you! Bye Bye! Great bike.
Thank you!
where did you buy the "dominator" decals
Hello. That is how the bike came in. Nothing has been added.
Good bike but I prefer the xf650 freewind suzuki
It was around the same time. Also the SLR650 KLR650 and KLX650 and the bmw funduro. Lots of thumpers around back then.
Yes I agree they both have great air-cooled motors. Very reliable bike's.
no comprendo
Great bike!👍🏻
