"Is your heart in it? Do you want to learn?" I look for this as well in later-stage designers as well. I think it's important in leadership to have a heart of a teacher. The only way to really embody this is to also know where you're great, where you need to improve, and make some efforts to learn ways to play to your strengths and learn and grow where you aren't naturally gifted.

The intern, contractor, Verses the FTE excuse for interviewing process is a little gaslighting. Contratcors will have more heat and FTE can be let go just as easy. It just socially looks bad when you let go of a FTE to the current employees.
