Ritchie Blackmore criminally underrated in the U.S but one of the most important guitarists in the history of Rock & Metal. Gillan was also incredible in the 70's. This version of Deep Purple was epic.

Saying music created on a computer isn't hard work is just insane. It's just as hard on a computer, 1 producer has to understand how to play 5+ instruments. If you think it's easy, then like that other guy said, you don't know how it works.

When I first listened to Gov't Mule's "The Deepest End" live CD, a ways into disc 2, Warren introduces Our new friend Roger Glover!! And I was like, wait- excuse me, what?!?! He killed it, too. ALL of them did- there were a bunch of bassists that came to jam with them that night. (they were still looking for a replacement for Allen Woody then) Even more remarkable, each player only got a very short time to rehearse with the band, and some were only able to make it after the show began.

Fun Fact : Bruce Dickinson initially was interested in Drums . Maiden i discovered thanks to a II grade cousin (if it's correct) older than me (i have circa 5 years more than Sir Jon) . Ian Paice very active and jouthfull nowadayZ is a friend of Nicko drummer Maiden . 12'52"-12'53" 😛🤙 . Ian Gillan is singing the Baby . I was hoping for this song . This is seminal

The third gig at the Budokan in Tokyo on the 17th August went well with no significant problems, other than the acoustics of the hall could have been better. Possible because of this the subject of the monitors came up again and Ian Gillan asked over the mic before Strange Kind of Woman: “Yeah everything up here please. A bit more monitor if you’ve got it.” Then Ritchie asks “Can I have everything louder than everything else?” which Ian Gillan repeats “Yeah, can he have everything louder than everything else.” This remained on the final master."

As a teenager in the 70’s I’m going to give you a little insight. This song was about the Vietnam war. It was a war nobody understood and nobody wanted to go. None of us talked about it. We all seen it and knew all the guys were taken as soon as they were 18 and out of school. Many friends, boyfriends, cousins, brothers, and sons lost. Deep purple summed it up. A young guy being thrown into the middle of a war and on foreign soil, different language, and just wanting to go home. They just wanted to stay alive with bullets flying all around them. Everyone dreaded the “letter” but when they went nobody said a thing. It was avoided and life went on. I lost an uncle and cousin but both died after the war but caused by the war. They couldn’t just come home and forget it so they drank hard, drove fast, with what seemed like a death wish. As Ian Gillian speaks at the end, he tried to fit back in, he tried to talk about it but nobody wanted to talk about it, so he blew his mind out! This was the bad part we all lived through in the 70’s. We grew up fast and experienced the best music there ever was. They all had meaning and helped comfort our hearts because there was no answers as to why they were taking all these boys. My husband (boyfriend then) missed the draft by 2 months! A lot of lives, our children and grandchildren would never have been born if he was 2 months older. Sobering thought of all the families that never had a chance to start.. That being said, the first time I head deep purple on record I rushed to the store and bought it! keep in mind we knew we had awesome music and no expense was spared for the best Pioneer or JVC stereo systems! Muscle cars and the best stereos! The walls in the whole house shook when we played our music. Enjoy our memories;)

YOU GUYS ARE SO COOL! i AM HOOKED ON YOUR REACTIONS!!! My first three concerts were the fall of 1971 - Grand Funk Railroad , Black Sabbath and Deep Purple - not a bad year for a 14 year old. Actually, the GFR show was 11 days before my 14th birthday. These 3 bands are still on my go to playlists when I an having a bad day.

    The unholy trinity is,
    Deep purple
    Black sabbath
    Led zeppelin
All were majorly influenced by American blues. This song is one of the first truly heavy metal songs ever.

Who dosed the damn audience with tons of valium? are they vegetated? I would be screaming my ass off if I was there listening to the Greatest male rock vocalist ever. Live happy and long Ian you will always be Jesus Christ Superstar. R.I.P. Master John Lord King of the Hammonds. Also, THAT guitar player is Grand Master Richie Blackmore, if not the best probably in the top 3 guitar players of all time. In fact, the whole Mark II lineup of Deep Purple as you see them here
Ian Gillan - lead vocals, harmonica, percussion
    Ritchie Blackmore - guitar
    Roger Glover - bass
Jon Lord - keyboards, backing vocals
    Ian Paice - drums, percussion
Are all the best in their respective place, That Mark II lineup is the best, it's the best that was and is in the Rock music scene, all of them masters of their craft. :) Stay healthy and Safe hugs from Greece.

Golden Earing, AC/DC, etc. The Legends of rock. So thanks for bringing it on for the younger generations. It is the basis for so much modern music.
