I'm a new subscriber and I like your taste in perfumes - French, vintage etc. I'm new to the perfume world and especially the TH-cam perfume world and I foolishly listened to the majority push for all these sickenly sweet modern day perfumes - and I'm already sorry I did. A few of them - I'd say one or two or three - are nice - but really, no one needs to indulge their nasal sweet tooth at this level! Anyway, I also appreciate for a lot of your reviews you do the comparison between EDTs and EDPs. I'm about to get myself a bottle of Songes - and you're helping in my decision making re: which one to get.

Thank you so much! I know I'm an acquired taste so it means a lot to me that you reached out. If you end up getting Songes you have to tell me what you think!!!

Nicest women's perfume i ever smelt. Grand Amour (also by Annick Goutal) is the second best. Really surprised that not many women know of them.

This sounds perfect to counter a miserable winter day! Those old Goutal bottles were so pretty.

Spot on review Wendy. I had a bottle that I swapped away to a perfume friend who loved it. I'm not hugely into jasmine but I agree that Songes was a lovely and very special perfume.

It is. There is nothing else like it. It just feels special and like care went into making it!

There's something about going to the counter isn't there? It's such a gorgeous scent & there is nothing like it.

Hi Wendi - the follow up as promised! Well, my bottle of Annick Goutal Songes (I ordered the Eau de Parfum) arrived today and I'm wearing my first few sprays of it. I'm so so surprised - but it's all good! If "Songes" means dreams in French, the EDP of this perfume, to me, is 'Indian Dream's (I'm American but Indian by origin so I actually do have these - especially the older I get🙂). It's been about an hour since I first sprayed and I'm really smelling the cumin, the black pepper, the cinnamon. I feel like it's decades ago and I am a little kid playing in the kitchen while my mom is cooking...Songes is a heavy, heady fragrance, you are right, and I'm really liking it. Thanks for reviewing this and inspiring me to grab a bottle! Perhaps as the scent dries down some more, I'll be able to smell the flower, vanilla and benzoin notes in it, but so far, I'm only smelling the spices...I'm curious now about the EDT and I believe you are right, the bottle you have is discontinued and is only available as a "vintage". But the EDT can also be found in new packaging - a bottle that looks just like the EDP - but the box is not white like the one you are holding up with the EDP - it is gold with black dots on it -

Thank you for writing out your impressions! It's so interesting that you are sensing the spices so predominantly. I'm really glad you like it though it's very special and it seems you find it as evocative as I do! I hope you can smell the flowers more as I think this is such a beautiful white floral. You write very nice reviews, consider posting on Fragrantica if you don't already!

@@wendisparadeofperfumes5034 Thank you, Wendi, what a nice thing to say. I've thought about Fragrantica but I think if I signed up, I'd do nothing but that all day! Anyway, evocative is the perfect word for Songes, and for me, evoking memories. It is interesting, you are right - and I think odd - that for the most part - with Songes - I'm only smelling the spices - and so strongly. I didn't really get into perfumes as a young person - or in my mid life - life was a struggle, often just too hard, and I was just too overwhelmed. But I've been on something of a later life perfume journey, especially for the past few months, and I'm fast coming to the conclusion that the olfactory senses are the senses most strongly tied to memory. I think the notes that your nose does pick up from a particular perfume are the ones your brain decides ahead of time are the most relevant to you and your life experiences. I hope though, as I keep using Songes, I do eventually smell the florals...that'd be really nice too! Thanks, Wendi, and have a good what's left of the evening...

The bottle you have is the the 2nd design I think, before Wendi’s one. The black with golden star dots is edp and the ivory with black star dots is edt. I have both but prefer edt more. Now I’m thinking to buy the moon bottle just because of the bottle itself 😅

I used to stop by Marshall Fields after school back in the early 90s and visit the Annick Goutal counter. I never could afford her scents but I would spritz a few on me. I was a starving college student lol

That was probably still a nice experience. All their bottles are so lovely to look at and no matter what you picked I'm sure you smelled great!
