Lee, I wanted to tell you how much your videos were a gift to make things easier during a hard time for all of us. This one in particular is just so lovely and from time to time I'll rewatch it whole or at least watch and listen to you playing over the record. Gives me a peace I can't describe. Thanks for giving us so much.

My parents took me to a JT concert when I was a kid. I was fascinated by your playing and the way it went with James’ guitar bass lines - been a fan ever since - and I’m 50 this year. Cheers and thanks for doing these!!!

Thank you, Lee. Interesting and deeply heartening to see how many people are responding to your videos. I think many of us are searching for meaning, continuity, hope and fortitude in this time, and your tour through your life's work is really resonating right now. It really IS your time.... music is a heart healing thing. Best wishes :)

Album artwork! I used to love taking home a new LP, gingerly putting it on the turntable and studing the album jacket while listening. Thick As A Brick was the epitome! I'm still reading that one.

There was a second edition of Thick as a Brick with a different cover but akin somewhat. As you say,(Touche`) I started to read also that original cover in 1973 (??) and still love it inside and out.

Absolutely amazing that you play all the songs by heart, although played them last when you recorded them, like this one. A great musician with an incredible musical memory, especially when I think of your yesterday‘s words whereafter you only rehearsed 5 days for the TOTO-tour. 👍🏻👏🏻👍🏻👏🏻👍🏻👏🏻

Yes. Back in the day, unwrapping and savoring the LP experience was a thing. Many times I would soak up the artwork, especially for the fold-out albums, as well as the jacket info (where the credits were in many cases) before even carefully placing the vinyl on the turntable. Good times. Thanks for your efforts, Mr. Sklar!

Technology like TH-cam is helping to ruin the world. The exception is unbelievable content like this from fabulously talented people like Mr. Sklar who are producing content that if not for platforms like this, we would never of had the pleasure to experience. You don’t know how much this is appreciated Mr. Sklar. Thank you so much! The color you’re adding to my music memories is valued more than you might realize.

Thankyou Leland I totally enjoy your clips I've seen you play with musicians in concert. Sir may I say I only dream of being at your calibre in music. I've played drums for well over 40 years My parents were involved in music and I can remember when groups I worked with folded my mother always convinced me not to give up and I am forever thankful to her for that because If she didn't convince me not to throw the towel in I wouldn't be where I am today. But sadly like you all my musician brothers have fallen off their perch. I remember I only discovered one of my very close friends had passed away, he played in my very first group I played in , it must have been 1967 I must have been 15 years old. He went to Vietnam and returned a different person. I only found out he passed away accidentally on the internet ,his passing floored me. Thankyou Leland watching your clips is like talking to my musician friends I used to now.

I've realized lately how much I miss having it so it was a pain to bump to the next song on a tape/album. It kind of twisted your arm to listen to the whole thing (and you listened to the whole thing because you paid for it). There was nothing like sitting down to listen to a new one. I also really miss the album/cassette artwork and liner notes to read as you listen (that's how I first learned who Leland Sklar was on PC's No Jacket Required). Now, unless you know the members of a band you have no real clue who played what.
Please keep up with this. I love hearing your stories and listening to your magic.

I really feel like the era of Vinyl was an age of innocence like a teenager learning to express themselves and say what is important to them and actually have someone listen to what they had to say because it was important and meant something. Every record opened a new room full of ideas and experiences, all you had to do to return was to slide the record out, cue it up and sit in the comfy chair and you were back there in the 'room' that only that record could open. We were young and naive but it was so vibrant and hopeful, it was food for our spirits! I too miss those rooms, mp3's and digital is just not the same, like they somehow don't even exist.
I was lucky enough to make a couple of CD covers and a booklet for a couple friends bands and it was a great experience to be actually creating a room and taking part in arranging of the guys furniture, as in the songs being part of themselves and how valuable a thing those songs were.
You are now opening a new set of doors that are equally as precious :)

I heard my favorite Linda song on the way to work this morning “Your No Good “ and it made my day. Not sure if you played bass on that track. I wish I could get my comments in earlier but by the time I get off work this is pretty much a done deal. Man Willie Weeks and Jim Keltner. This reminds me of another great drummer Andy Newmark He was so great. I wonder if you ever got to jam with Andy. I feel for you and your insomnia. I too can’t sleep and it really takes a toll on your body. You just learn to live with it Great job as always.

Your videos are a joy to watch and I so appreciate that you are taking the time to produce them. Your involvement in the music that was the soundtrack to my younger life is deep. You played on tracks as well as toured with artists that made major impressions in my heart - Thanks for being the driving rhythm to so much that made me happy. We've actually met a couple of times back in the late 70's and early 80's when I was just a young teen and you were touring with James and Jackson. We talked once in the concession area at Pine Knob prior to a show when you were hanging out alone by the entrance. I got there early and stopped to say hello. You couldn't have been any nicer and you won me over from the start. We also talked a summer later after another Pine Knob show and I walked away knowing that I met not only a true musical artist but a gentleman as well. Thanks again for these videos and for sharing such beautiful stories. Be well.

People rarely remember data, trivia, junk-culture, etc, but they will always remember a good story, and for musicians my age (65) your stories are gold. They tie-together so much of what I've been listening to my whole life in the music world and in particular, what you and the other guys in The Section were doing and thinking about back then.
Lee, I love your entire catalog man but still my favorite work of yours is one of your earliest recorded pieces and that is The Section tune, "Sporadic Vacuums Of Thought" and if you're reading this, could you possibly entertain doing that cut in one of your videos. Those Section albums are pretty rare and not that many people know about them and that cut to this day has some of the very best bass-playing virtuosity that I've ever heard and there are so many nuggets in there (slides, punches, playful sections) along with the heavy business of keeping that whole song sorted...not an easy task to my ears. Thank you, and maybe writing a book isn't your thing but we'll take as many of these TH-cam sessions as you can manage. (BTW: I introduced my band-mates in my first club gig on Maui in 1975 to that Section cut, "Doing The Meatball", they loved it and we covered it at the gig that year...people (and the band), loved it!). Peace.

I love watching your videos. Very interesting and entertaining. As a side note, I’m watching an old Huell Howser episode of the 1997 Bassett Hound picnic, and there you were in the group with a dog. Dogs make people well-rounded.

I really enjoy your videos, Lee. So agree with your comments on albums and album covers. CDs were bad enough in how they eliminated the flow of album sides and miniaturized the artwork. At least you still had a physical item to hold, which is more than can be said for today's digital/streaming distribution. I feel a real sense of loss of the connection that used to exist between the music and the art of albums.
You mentioned the group photo of the musicians from "In The Pocket". I pulled my LP to take a good look, and got a chuckle from the way everyone is identified as Ms. or Mr. so-and-so.
Thanks for the memories! Keep 'em up.

I swear vinyl sounds significantly clearer than anything. I remember I listened to all of those with headphones on and I could hear the singers breathing. On of my favorite albums (In the Pocket)

Thanks for sharing your wonderful playing, Lee. If the Rod track had bagpipes, the reference was probably a Scottish song. It it was Irish, it would have been Uileann pipes - related but different. In terms of commercial tracks, Rod did use Bagpipes on the Rhythm of My Heart - a big hit for him. Thanks again - from Ireland.

Sitting here waiting for the launch to the space station and thought *ding, Lee just put up another one and I'm gonna watch it while I wait for blast-off. Great song, great story and masterful playing even though i couldn't catch all the changes. Caveat is I can go back and figure it out, haha. Peace brother and "finite"
is but a mortal term, you'll just flip onto the next stage when the maker takes his quarry.
