In answer to your question about similar stories of other immigrant groups, one comes to mind: Cambodian immigrants dominate the market for donuts, at least in southern California (I'm not sure how widespread their reach is), where they own hundreds of donut shops. There is a good documentary film called "The Donut King" about that story of immigrant success.

I dont know much but my Indian wife talks around d the house with her friends. Heard lot of betrayals from the business owners from hotels and motels.
