I'm fairly new to the game. I'm still trying to find which area I want to focus and tanking is intriguing. Is it something viable for a player thats mostly dps'd in the game so far?
@@shakes268I'd just give it a try, it's nothing more than dpsing while everything is attacking you. Obviously there's tank rotation/cooldowns so I'd look into whatever tank you'd find interesting and look up videos/guides and just hop in a dungeon and give it a go. Just test your limits and don't do any major pulls you'll be aight. That's what your healer is for. I will say as a tank you have to be aware of your party/surroundings. Like don't pull if your healer is out of mana or away from the group. Don't accidentally run into another group while moving your pull around. You do need a lil bit of dungeon knowledge but you learn that as you keep doing the dungeons or someone puts out a guide
Yeah tanking is a totally different type of playstyle to dps so you will feel less worried a out yourself and you feel more like a group player. With planning and control. You start to think about how to control mobs with interrupts and los. I swapped from mage to prot warrior last week and dungeons is so much more fun@@shakes268
I'm a Druid main and really just picked up M+ tanking in the past few weeks. I love it, and look forward to the MoonBear build. The "easier" rotation helps me pay attention to mechanics better. Once I get the hang of the routes/bosses/pulls in TWW, I may dust off the ole' Warrior or Monk and jump back in. Thanks for all of your vids Quazii!
I started on Guardian Druid, decided to switch to Lightsmith/Templar Paladin because I was getting bored, played that for a few weeks and loved it, but began leveling up a Monk on the side. Finally got my Monk up to 80 last night and I am so excited for the amount of mobility it brings to the table- the one flaw the paladin has. Paladin heals and tanks so much more safely, but the constant strategic repositioning makes Brewmaster feel so much easier to use for me.
I am psyched to play Lightsmith. I always saw Prot Pal as a support style tank, and this hero spec reinforces that. With the pink tank being a bit squishier than previously, I won't be able to Word of Glory the party as much, so giving them a shield will be awesome.
I personally love having two mains: One for tryharding and pushing high keys and one for when I just want to chill so I'm gonna main Blood DK and Guardian Druid in TWW

One of the things I never see anyone talk about is how bear teaches you to use your cooldowns. A lot of tanks always have this ”but what if I need it later” mindset and will hold cooldowns a lot. Bear on the other hand has survival instincts as it’s only pure defensive cooldown. All the rest of them buff your damage in one way or another and feels really good to press.
For what it's worth, I find simpler rotations way more fun for the exact reasons you noted. I like bear because it lets me interact with the other aspects of the dungeon and communicate with my friends without screwing up!
Colossus Warrior should have talent allowing to ues 2h weapon with a shield, that should be very easy to balance. Maybe blizz will give that option later in TWW or Midnight if they will expand hero talents.
Hammer of Light does not compete with other spenders because the tree makes eye of Tyr generate the three holy power it consumes. It is a net neutral amount of holy power. All you "lose" is the GCD to cast it.

Something which needs to be pointed out, bears and in general shapeshifting druids CAN show their mogs by using various different methods of "race changing". So no point in deducting "fun" points for not being able to show your mog.
That's interesting so many seem to be mechanically focused. My definition of fun is mostly thematic and visual. Something that looks cool and has a cool theme will draw me in and keep me longer than specific class mechanics.
I'm really thinking on going deep into tanking for TWW and I've watched both this and your other video about tank "difficulty" and they are both a massive help in decision making of which one I want to try. Appreciate you lots!
I love brewmaster, I was infinitely sad to see Bonedust brew gone, there were better buttons to remove imo. Bonedust made threat a lot easier. Keep the quality content coming!
Warrior is by far both the most fun and also the best tank. Only warr and pala feels like a tank with a shield. If you dont have a shield are you even a tank?
Juuuuust now dipping into warrior. I have never played a warrior in any game bc I just thought the idea was boring but I am eating my words now. Fury is high impact go go go play and prot to me plays like a dps with mitigation so I’m really enjoying it. Surprise

Im so excited to level with friends. This is the first time ever i'm not excited for M+. I'll do it for the power, but I have no interest in pushing keys for the first time.
Sadly, I like all of them. I really wish they would make the druid shapeshifting in M+ viable. If they did that, I'd definitely choose it for TWW. I can't choose between DK, BrM, and Prot Warrior.
I will play Druid as I mentioned in a previous Video, however, for some reason, Druid is for me harder to play than a Paladin, I can not hold aggro as easy as with the Paladin. It's so confusing, because everyone says that bear is easy, which he is, but the aggro thing, I don't know haha

Hate to break it to you but PC (Playable Character) Warriors lore-wise aren't just like ordinary Footmen / Grunts. In away PC Warriors are an incarnation of the Titan Aggramar (titan magic) because as sure as hell no ordinary warrior could dual wield 2h weapons, use Avatar, Storm Bolt and Thunderclap (except maybe Dwarves). Ravager? Shockwave?

How much did Brewmaster's self healing get nerfed? The 40% reduction to the Gift of the Ox healing orbs seemed pretty big. I really enjoyed the more self sustaining playstyle of Brew in Dragonflight and am hoping it mostly continues (despite it being nerfed) for TWW

More support specs for everyone! Shamans should get a support spec that focuses on totems, Monks get one where we can throw helpful brews at our allies. Priests with one that focuses on their power words and other buffs. Druids already have enough specs tho lol
Yeah, it’s my favorite tank but I really wish it were better at mob control in general. I feel like my Brewmaster is for my own personal enjoyment and Prot Pally is for helping out my group. I wish I could have the fun Brew playstyle with Prot Pally utility lol
All tanks got kinda nerfed, but Prot Warrior and Blood DK absolutely pump now. BDK is always going to give that scrub 3rd DPS a run for their money. The increased damage profile and weaker self healing profile of tanks will speed up keys.
All of the hero talents that make it feel klunky will most likely have some sort of tier bonus and smooth stuff out. OR there will be a patch that fixes that rather fast once the expansion actually launches.
Do tanks always play camera high up looking straight down, so it looks (a little) like an RTS, so they can see when mobs run off and tackle a squishie? Or are there addons to scream 'you lost some agrro!'? When I flirted with tanking in the past I was always losing a few mobs here or there and felt bad.. .. but then some tanks in low m+ just don't care, they run forward ahead of the group and DGAF if they have mob attention :P
I usually tank with a zoomed out camera, for the reason you mentioned. I am usually using the nameplates to tell if I lost aggro from a mob. It's also useful to watch the ground for stuff to get out off, or makes it easier to spot your team with a side eye while taking so you can position cleave targets away from teammate etc. Stuff like that. It gives me awareness of my surroundings. Also sometimes mobs will loose aggro, when this happens I usually expect the dps to try and get closer to me, I wont run accross the room to a mage playing max range, to aggro a mob, but you get used to pack handling.
@@stavrosargyrou4334 Thats interesting; I usually am runing back and forth like crazy to 'do my job' and get back aggro; do you just rely on DPS to watch aggro meters and not pull agrro or open up too early? I usually play 'over the shoulder' RPG style, just as with questing; but that means when things happen behind my back, I don't see it. But I've been playing WoW since vanilla over the shoudler .. its really hard for me to get used to birds eye view, but I'm thinking if I want to go back to tanking, thats really how it should be played. Almost like a different game mode :)
Nah, we only look from the top when we hug a wall because the camera likes to spasm out when youre zoomed out. The rest of the time we like to look so we can see everyone. Mostly zoomed all out. If someone is out of my screen and i cant fit him into my screen, it means or he's standing at a wrong location or he has been appointed to a task and is doing what he's supposed to do and i shouldnt be minding him (still keeping an eye on him once a while tho).
@@RidoDrago Feels like there should be (and likely is) that screams loud when you have aggro to something, and lose it while its not dead, so you can go grab it back. .. I'll have to try follower dungeon with way more zoomed out, see if I can track everyone there and see. Thanks!
I main brewmaster monk in M+ but I've always fallen back on guardian druid whenever I want to relax while still running M+. I absolutely love the simplicity of bear druid and I'm forever thankful it's not as bloated as BrM.
All these tank videos are fine but all of them only focus on people who know the game and don't necessarily mention how new players is gonna feel. Since WOW is pretty much required to have new players coming in and staying, having bear tank being mega easy is a huge+, since the class is very popular. I can't stress enough how overwhelming wow can feel for a new player. I hope this is an indication by blizzard that they plan to make wow accessable again.
One of his most recent videos is exactly about which tanking classes might be easier than others for a beginner. I agree with you that the new player experience in wow can be overwhelming. I'd go so far as to argue that wow positively _hates_ new players, the game is far too complicated, the players are awfully unwelcoming and impatient with real newbies, etc. That's a problem. Wow will die from it, it's predominantly old farts playing on their 50th alt. But that's wow, not Quazii. Quazii does more than any other content creator to share his knowledge, so that many of us can play better.
After playing for 17 years I can say for me that you might want to pick one class/spec/role and absolutely stick to it. Learn it, live in it and try all the content that you feel comfortable doing. The more the better. The "World" of Warcraft is quite diverse. Use videos like this by this absolute genius content creator to help you understand the game in more depth. Good Luck!
Well if you're new to the game just don't get into those type of video, just play whatever you like and learn by playing. Clearly those video are dedicated for at least medium pushing player who already know the tank intricacy. The entry barrier ain't that hard in wow if you plan to take the time to learn without going too fast. Lot of "new" player simply end up pushing higher key level while they don't focus on mastering the basic of the game ! There's no shame about doing +2 to learn, but you have to be ok of .. learning in the first place. Not blizzard jobs to do that for you imo
He mentions guardian Druid being easier to pick up, both in this video and his other videos. I think if you are new though, I would start with his beginner video and just pick a class that’s fantasy appeals to you, to start. Most of this stuff will not really be relatable until you’ve paid your dues with some play time and experience.
bear ive tryd in season 4 and the rotation is so booring it got me away from bear , so i hoped TWW is better but the rotation is same so ill pass on bear, buuuut i might do brewmaster or blood those look fun!
I don’t think VDH is the king of CC anymore. Silence sigil is the weakest it’s ever been and with the new changes of mobs recasting, sigil of misery, sigil of chains, and chaos nova aren’t really great. In pugs they arguably do more harm than good because you could mess up someone’s kick and then the mob will just start casting again.
If your entire pug group is all kicking at once you have bigger problems to worry about. And at super high M+ levels things should be coordinated, even in pugs.
It still has more than the other tanks, except maybe paladins with favorable procs but even then that can be a bit random. A VDH can take care of 3 casts in a row without using their actual kick. I think the new casting mechanic kind of affects everyone the same.
The most annoying thing about returning to retail as a tank is not the actual class, mechanics or rotations but crazy pve andies pulling whole dungeon for you and not knowing shit where to go.
Love playing prot pally. Love it's rotation, the utility, the animations, the sounds, that it's sword & board, it's xmog, so good
Paladin sound design underrated IMO. Make pressing the buttons so satisfying.
And divine toll as prot pally is probably one of the most satisfying action in the game.

It really does allow you to "shot call" in a sense or just hype fixate on mechanics in general (like you were saying). Ton of fun for sure

The only problem I have with VDH is the hero talents, they are so boring in concept. It's the same question as always, Glaive or Demon.
Fun is subjective. My personal bias is blood dk. Prot pala and vdh.

Paladin should get a 4th spec for a support dps role.
They can call it "Inspiration" and possibly make use of the old blessings I.e might wisdom kings in a new/modern way

All tanks got kinda nerfed, but Prot Warrior and Blood DK absolutely pump now. BDK is always going to give that scrub 3rd DPS a run for their money. The increased damage profile and weaker self healing profile of tanks will speed up keys.

All of the hero talents that make it feel klunky will most likely have some sort of tier bonus and smooth stuff out.
OR there will be a patch that fixes that rather fast once the expansion actually launches.

Do tanks always play camera high up looking straight down, so it looks (a little) like an RTS, so they can see when mobs run off and tackle a squishie? Or are there addons to scream 'you lost some agrro!'? When I flirted with tanking in the past I was always losing a few mobs here or there and felt bad..
.. but then some tanks in low m+ just don't care, they run forward ahead of the group and DGAF if they have mob attention :P
I usually tank with a zoomed out camera, for the reason you mentioned. I am usually using the nameplates to tell if I lost aggro from a mob.
It's also useful to watch the ground for stuff to get out off, or makes it easier to spot your team with a side eye while taking so you can position cleave targets away from teammate etc. Stuff like that. It gives me awareness of my surroundings. Also sometimes mobs will loose aggro, when this happens I usually expect the dps to try and get closer to me, I wont run accross the room to a mage playing max range, to aggro a mob, but you get used to pack handling.
@@stavrosargyrou4334 Thats interesting; I usually am runing back and forth like crazy to 'do my job' and get back aggro; do you just rely on DPS to watch aggro meters and not pull agrro or open up too early?
I usually play 'over the shoulder' RPG style, just as with questing; but that means when things happen behind my back, I don't see it. But I've been playing WoW since vanilla over the shoudler .. its really hard for me to get used to birds eye view, but I'm thinking if I want to go back to tanking, thats really how it should be played.

Nah, we only look from the top when we hug a wall because the camera likes to spasm out when youre zoomed out. The rest of the time we like to look so we can see everyone. Mostly zoomed all out. If someone is out of my screen and i cant fit him into my screen, it means or he's standing at a wrong location or he has been appointed to a task and is doing what he's supposed to do and i shouldnt be minding him (still keeping an eye on him once a while tho).
@@RidoDrago Feels like there should be (and likely is) that screams loud when you have aggro to something, and lose it while its not dead, so you can go grab it back. .. I'll have to try follower dungeon with way more zoomed out, see if I can track everyone there and see. Thanks!
I main brewmaster monk in M+ but I've always fallen back on guardian druid whenever I want to relax while still running M+.
I absolutely love the simplicity of bear druid and I'm forever thankful it's not as bloated as BrM.

All these tank videos are fine but all of them only focus on people who know the game and don't necessarily mention how new players is gonna feel. Since WOW is pretty much required to have new players coming in and staying, having bear tank being mega easy is a huge+, since the class is very popular. I can't stress enough how overwhelming wow can feel for a new player. I hope this is an indication by blizzard that they plan to make wow accessable again.
One of his most recent videos is exactly about which tanking classes might be easier than others for a beginner. I agree with you that the new player experience in wow can be overwhelming. I'd go so far as to argue that wow positively _hates_ new players, the game is far too complicated, the players are awfully unwelcoming and impatient with real newbies, etc. That's a problem. Wow will die from it, it's predominantly old farts playing on their 50th alt. But that's wow, not Quazii. Quazii does more than any other content creator to share his knowledge, so that many of us can play better.
Even if you’re not new to world of wacraft, seeing the new changes is overwhelming.
After playing for 17 years I can say for me that you might want to pick one class/spec/role and absolutely stick to it. Learn it, live in it and try all the content that you feel comfortable doing. The more the better. The "World" of Warcraft is quite diverse. Use videos like this by this absolute genius content creator to help you understand the game in more depth. Good Luck!
Well if you're new to the game just don't get into those type of video, just play whatever you like and learn by playing. Clearly those video are dedicated for at least medium pushing player who already know the tank intricacy.
The entry barrier ain't that hard in wow if you plan to take the time to learn without going too fast. Lot of "new" player simply end up pushing higher key level while they don't focus on mastering the basic of the game ! There's no shame about doing +2 to learn, but you have to be ok of .. learning in the first place. Not blizzard jobs to do that for you imo
He mentions guardian Druid being easier to pick up, both in this video and his other videos. I think if you are new though, I would start with his beginner video and just pick a class that’s fantasy appeals to you, to start. Most of this stuff will not really be relatable until you’ve paid your dues with some play time and experience.

bear ive tryd in season 4 and the rotation is so booring it got me away from bear , so i hoped TWW is better but the rotation is same so ill pass on bear, buuuut i might do brewmaster or blood those look fun!
I don’t think VDH is the king of CC anymore. Silence sigil is the weakest it’s ever been and with the new changes of mobs recasting, sigil of misery, sigil of chains, and chaos nova aren’t really great. In pugs they arguably do more harm than good because you could mess up someone’s kick and then the mob will just start casting again.
If your entire pug group is all kicking at once you have bigger problems to worry about. And at super high M+ levels things should be coordinated, even in pugs.
It still has more than the other tanks, except maybe paladins with favorable procs but even then that can be a bit random. A VDH can take care of 3 casts in a row without using their actual kick.
I think the new casting mechanic kind of affects everyone the same.
