You do realize many of us who were born in California can't afford to leave right? We don't embrace the irony when it isn't. Most of use do not choose to live by a fault line, especially when they are in major cities were jobs are available. However, i will take a earthquake so big that it hits once in a blue moon then a place like Florida, Texas, ect due to tornadoes and hurricanes which have caused more deaths.

Many parts of the US have their natural events that could kill hundreds or millions over any length of time. Hurricanes, tornadoes and massive storms can all be deadly events, but they’re also predictable. Earthquakes are typically sudden and can be devastatingly violent … all that said, some people don’t have a choice in geographic residency and if they did move, they’d just be trading one areas nuisance for another.

there will be a big one the last one was in M7.9 1857 Fort Tejon Earthquake which was the trigger for the M7.7-8.3 1909 San Francisco quake
the most southern section has been locked up since the late 1600s (Salton Sea section) Most likely when it goes it will rip the whole entire falut line at once from the Salton Sea to Oregon .... most likely secondary faults will trigger as well at the same time

No, that is false. Tahoe only has faults, but not a volcano. The closest active volcanoes to the Lake are the Long Valley Caldera 135 miles south, and the Lassen peaks 135 miles north. These systems are not associated with each other at all.

No its not. Lake Tahoe is a normal lake created by glacier activity in the past and some volcanic debrie and normal quakes but is not a caldera it appears the volcanic debrie is from the various volcanos further north, Yellowstone and Long Valley. .
Mammoth Lake further south is part of the Long Valley Caldera Super Volcano however.

The greater risk is to Carson City. LakeTahoe is a very deep (1,644 feet) water-filled volcanic crater (36.15 cubic miles) - enough to erase the Carson Valley if the east wall should fail in a large quake. A 7.2 or above could do it. It only needs to fracture enough to allow the water an opening. Gravity and erosion would do the rest.

Tahoe's resources are understaffed for the size of the population and the roads circling Tahoe are narrow and likely to suffer significant damage if a large quake were to hit. Not to mention the thousands of homes and other properties that are literally at lake level. Still a beautiful area.
